Mahoning Valley - Race #3

#4 Cue the Band	Tactical type came up short at 4/5 with statebred company last time out, but she might be a slightly better price this time around with open company while landing another great trip tracking the pace.
#1 Maureenlovesfrank	She has been knocking on the door in Chicago and has pretty reliable form, but I'm worried she's going to be overbet in a race where some others have a high enough ceiling to keep her honest.
#5 First Kitten	She's another one bringing Hawthorne form with her, and she steps up in class for this one off the claim. First-over trip might be in the cards.
Race Summary	Cue the Band steps into open company with some form that fits well here, and she has a little versatility that gives her rider some options for placing her in close range early on.

Mahoning Valley - Race #6

#4 Sammy's Smile	He's a pretty reliable finishing type and has some pretty decent stakes running lines on his page. One of his better tries puts him in the mix with these.
#6 Dark Vader	His form isn't heading in the right direction, but he has some efforts earlier this year that would make him tough if he were able to bounce back with something better.
#2 Uptown	His form can be a bit inconsistent, but he turned in a sharp effort last time out that would be competitive with this group. Wouldn't want too short a price here.
Race Summary	Sammy's Smile has some appeal in here off the score last time out, and I like that his overall recent form has been more consistent than most in here. Guessing he'll show up.

Mahoning Valley - Race #8

#1 Broken Jewel	She flashed some pace before stopping badly in the debut run, but she now returns with Lasix for this second start. I like that she has some speed from the inside with a right to stay better today.
#3 Kerri's Miracle	I liked that route run last time out when second after showing the way, and her previous sprint form probably leaves her in line for a good spying trip today. Logical.
#7 Danza Magic	She actually makes a lot of sense in here based on the recent form, but she is making her 20th career start in this one and will get bet again. Principled stand against.
Race Summary	Broken Jewel got involved early and then tailed off at first asking, but she might be the controlling pace from the inside while racing with some upside with the addition of Lasix.

Should know the horse even better today. Everybody's got their favorite tracks, but if you ask this thoroughbred, I think her answer would be Mahoning Valley Race Course.

Jock hops right back aboard after getting to know the horse by riding last out. That's always a good tip. The race may set up nicely for this gelding's powerful rally.

Horses who have been prepared to race at this distance and surface by Rosales have shown strong results as of late. FOREMAN - Is a contender - given the 66 speed fig from his most recent race. The average class figure of 64 makes this horse tough to beat.

Albury Racing Club will host an eight-race program this Tuesday, as the lone race meeting in New South Wales. The track is currently rated a Good 4 and with very warm weather on the forecast for the North East of Victoria, we expect to be on a firm track come race day. The rail will be in the +4m position between the 1300m mark and the winning post, and in the True position for the remainder of the course.
Best Bet at Albury – Commands Success

Our best bet of the day will come up in the first leg of the quaddie, where we will be siding with the Dwayne Reid-trained Commands Success. This three-year-old gelding is coming off an eighth of nine at Moonee Valley last start on Christmas Eve, after he went to town following his impressive debut win at Wangaratta on December 1. This son of Squamosa has raced over 1000m at both of his careers starts, and now he looks ready to make the step up to 1175m back in country grade. Jamie Gibbons will continue his association with this gelding, making the trip to Albury to ride him for the third time at his third start, and from barrier four Gibbons should be able to settle him in a prominent position just behind the leaders. With even luck in the final 300m, this galloper should put in a much better performance than last start.

Next Best at Albury – Graphite Miss

The second leg of the quaddie will see Graphite Mist make her debut for the Ben Brisbourne yard, after being transferred from Jack Bruce in Queensland after her last start on November 11. This four-year-old mare has been in great form of late, recording a win and two thirds at her last three starts and after an eight-week freshen, this girl looks ready to win another race on Tuesday. This daughter of Capitalist broke her maiden over 1100m at Gatton on September 29, where she showed a nice turn of foot to run down the leader after sitting in the box seat. At all three of her runs in Queensland, this mare started as the favourite or second favourite in her races, which bodes well for her showing that she has clear ability. Hannah Le Blanc will have her first ride on this mare, but with the aid of her 2kg claim and barrier four, we should see her settle in the one-one and pounce on the leaders in the final 200m.

In the third race of the day Miss Athena looks to have a very good chance to break her maiden after finishing second at Wagga over 1400m on December 23. This four-year-old mare was flying home late in the final 200m at her most recent start, going down by half-a-length to Dancing In The Sky, however, she seemed to be left a little flat footed as the field rounded the home turn, which indicates to us that she is looking for further, which she will get over 1600m on Tuesday. This daughter of Not A Single Doubt will get back from barrier nine and look to run on as she has done at all of her starts to date. Corey Parish should be looking to get her going at the 600m mark, to make sure that she is hitting top gear at the top of the home straight and with even luck, this girl will go very close once again.

On Tuesday the NCAAB Comp play is on Belmont at AT 7 Easters, Belmont has covered 5 of the last 6 overall and 3 of 4 on the road vs a team with a winning home record. Valparaiso falls into a negative system of ours that plays against Conference home dogs in this range that lost the first meeting this season. Valpo lost by 12 at Belmont in December and remain one of the worst teams in the nation on both sides of the ball. They have failed to cover 7 of 8 vs a winning team and 7 of 8 playing off a loss.
