This is not the same Barcelona team that we remember when Messi was there. Sure, they are still winning games, and they sit atop La Liga by five points, but it’s not by scoring 4-5 goals per game, at least not anymore. Barcelona played out a 0-0 draw in their first match of the season but then went on a tear, winning five straight La Liga games scoring at least three goals in each match.

However, since then, Barcelona has scored more than two goals twice and more than one goal four times. They scored exactly one goal a ridiculous eight times in their last 12 games, six of those resulting in a 1-0 win, which speaks to their defense. No team in any of the Big 5 Leagues has allowed fewer goals than Barcelona’s six, as they have kept 14 clean sheets in 18 matches. As such, they have stayed Under the total in six of their last seven La Liga matches:

Betis is a tough defensive team, having kept seven clean sheets in 18 La Liga matches while allowing more than one goal three times this season. They also don’t have a high-powered offense, as they have been held off the scoresheet in six matches this season, including three of their last five. Because of that, they are on a 2-5 Over-Under run.

This is an important match for both teams as Barcelona can really step on Real Madrid’s neck as they try to increase their five-point lead in the title race, while Betis currently occupy the last European qualification but sit just three points back of a Champions League spot for next year.
