AUNT BECCA - Hernandez and DeVaux perform well when they combine forces. It's hard to beat a +798 return on investment for a jock and conditioner. A solid handicapping angle is first-time Lasix. DeVaux gives it to this one for this event. MISS J D - I always like to see a filly getting Lasix for the 2nd time. This one fits the bill. JENNY LIND - Faced tougher last out at Churchill Downs. Based on Equibase class figures, this is a weaker bunch, so I will put this horse on my list of strong contenders. In the last race on Nov 18th was a good tune-up for today. Got pretty good betting action in that one, but finished fourth. Should do better in this race. Ranks uppermost in EPS (earnings per start). A dominant effort in this event can add to the lifetime bankroll. Asmussen, the trainer, shows intent by adding Lasix today. A positive sign. MISCHIEVOUS DOLL - Atop this thoroughbred on January 11th and Ramos is yet again in the irons this time. This filly likes to be near the lead. Today's race is a shorter distance and should help her winning probability. When Ramos and Lobo work together on horses the return on investment has been fabulous at +23. Was in a Maiden Special race at Turfway Park last out. That affair had a class number of 82 and she is moving down in this event. A certain solid contender.

MELANCHOLY BLUES - This mare is rounding her way back into shape. Should run well today. Was in an $8,000 Claiming race at Tampa Bay Downs last time around the track. That affair had a class number of 82 and she is moving down today. A certain serious competitor. The 64 last race speed rating looks strong in black and white. Don't discount that last race. The animal fired out with good zip, only to drop back and then hold ground to the finish.

Vulnerable Contenders: #7 LEA ME ALONE (ML=4/1), #3 LYRICAL (ML=4/1), #2 WORKING OVERTIME (ML=9/2),

LEA ME ALONE - I find it hard to play this runner this time around. Make her show you something in a sprint race before you wager on her in a race of 7 furlongs. This mare hasn't been showing me anything positive in the last couple of outings. When checking today's class figure, she will have to register a much better rating than last time out to vie in this dirt sprint. WORKING OVERTIME - Difficult to put any dough on this mare on the win end. Likes to hit the board though. When looking at today's Equibase class figure, she will have to record a much better speed figure than last time out to be competitive in this dirt sprint.

1st race – (3) Spirit of Power (A) was bumped early and then rallied wide when finishing second. Works out a winning trip here. (4) Pillbox might improve on turf. (6) Five Prizes should be more competitive in a claimer. (9) Royal Blush gets some class relief here. Betting strategy: 3 to win, place. Exacta box: 3-4-5-9.

3rd race – (3) Drinks On Me (C) dropped from 7-2 to 5-2 and posted a sharp win. Can make it two in a row here. (5) Khozzy Valintine returns to Tapeta, where won two starts ago. (4) Mercury Head drops in class and fits well here. (2) Island Magic can be a factor in this group. Betting strategy: 3 to win, place. Exacta box: 3-5. Exactas: 3-5 over 2-4 and 2-4 over 3-5.

5th race – (7) Angelas Party Girl was hurt by a wide trip after being bumped. Deserves a second chance here. (2) Artifact comes off a solid maiden win and looks like the main rival. (10) Crimson Princess should be closing quickly in the stretch. (1) Psychedelic could be tough to catch from the rail. Betting strategy: 7 to win, place. Exacta box: 1-2-7-10.

7th race – (3) Expect More won by a nose last time but was disqualified. Can make amends here and post a maiden win. (7) Carsown debuts for Joseph and could be a main threat. (2) Tshiebwe was second last time and moves to Pletcher’s barn for this try. (1) Game Change will benefit from a ground-saving trip. Betting strategy: 3 to win, place. Exacta box: 1-2-3-7.

9th race – (2) Big and Classy was given a layoff and returns as a gelding. Looks best in this spot. (4) Villegas Swing looks like the one to fear off the Klesaris claim. (5) Lunar Rocket posted a strong maiden win and will be a contender against winners. (3) Naval Officer has some speed and could last for a share here. Betting strategy: 2 to win, place.
