Handicapper: Wayne Root League: NCAAB Competition: Georgia Tech vs Florida State Time: Tuesday, March 7, 02:00 pm ET Bet Type: Point Spread Pick: Georgia Tech -2 (-110) (DraftKings) Rotation #: 607 Analysis: Pinnacle on Georgia Tech Georgia Tech is 8-0 against the spread in their last eight games overall. Last Saturday, Georgia Tech faced off against Boston College, and they were able to secure the 73-65. Two games ago against Syracuse, Georgia Tech also won 96-76. The Yellow Jackets have had a bad season, but maybe they are getting hot at the right time. On the other side of this matchup is Florida State who sits with a 9-22 record overall and they have gone 12-19 against the spread. In the last game against Virginia Tech, Florida State only scored 60 points and they ended up losing by 22 points. Two games ago against North Carolina, they were defeated 77-66. Florida State is averaging 69.6 points while their defense is giving up 76.7 points per game. Georgia Tech has gotten hot at the right time, and they are going to continue the success in this game. Two games ago Georgia Tech scored 96 points and they are going to continue the offensive success in this game. Florida State’s defense is giving up 76.7 points and they will struggle again here. Georgia Tech closed the season with a three-game winning streak and have won five of six overall. That stretch includes victories over three teams ranked higher than them in the conference standings. The problem for Florida State starts at the defensive end. They’ve allowed at least 75 points in 11 straight games, yielding 80 or more in four of their past six. They rank last in the conference in points against, while no team in the ACC is worse at defending the three. The Seminoles have just four wins since beating Georgia Tech on January 7th. They’ve dropped six of seven overall, and nine of their past 11. It’s not just that they’re losing, it’s how they’ve been losing. Five of their past nine defeats have been by double-figures. They have a minus-33 point differential over their past two games, losing most recently to Virginia Tech by 22, a team the Yellow jackets just beat.

Georgia Tech -2.5 over Florida State
This afternoon’s game between FSU and Georgia Tech is interesting because neither team won a neutral site game this season. Florida State has always been a team with length and excellent rebounding ability, but that is different this year, as they are terrible on the glass. Georgia Tech was always a guard-heavy team in past seasons, and groups like the Seminoles would play bully ball against them, but that is not the case anymore, as the Yellow Jackets can match their size. FSU won the earlier meeting on their home court this year, but so much has changed. GTech is the hotter team winner of three straight, and should keep the positive momentum going today. FSU has been in a tailspin for weeks. Take Georgia Tech.
