Gulfstream Park Race 1: 1 Mile. (Turf) S.Mdn 53k

#5 Heathguard (6/1) – He made an eye catching middle move in his debut. He circled the field behind a slow pace and flattened out in the final 1/16. This morning line looks high, but we might get 4/1 running for a small barn. The Ductor sees him he’s the most likely winner.

#1 Quick Quick Whit (8/1) – This colt has shown competence on dirt and now switches to turf for the first time. He’s bred for both surfaces and this is what trainer Michael Trombetta does best. Moving 130 runners to turf for the first time, he’s 20% with a +$1.56 ROI.

#4 Ensign Skip (12/1) – He’s another 1st time time turfer that can inject value into this race. He’s bred for the lawn and has strangely only run on synthetic and dirt thus far. He’s working well and should improve making his first start as a 3-year-old. Trainer Laura Cazares is 3/14 with a +$1.96 ROI with 1st time grass runners. How could the Ductor not include Skip?

*Gullet Shot of the Day #7 Great Navigator (4/1) – This colt is working well off the layoff and gets a nice outside draw. His stakes race at Saratoga last summer got he Ductor’s attention. He was blocked on the rail and ate kickback before he angled out and re-rallied for 2nd. He showed the grit he Ductor likes to see, he knows a great pilot when he sees one.

Gulfstream Park Race 9 1 Mile. (Turf) F.Mdn 84k

#1 Make the Boys Wink (9/2) – This filly got a nice rail trip in her debut on turf, but she still showed a nice late kick behind a slow pace. She’s worked well since her last dirt effort and now getting back to turf here, she’s the one to beat.

1st race – (5) Heathguard missed by a neck in his debut at Tampa and should graduate today. (8) Victoria’s Chief was second last time and looks like the main rival. (7) Aaron hasn’t raced since July but is working nicely for his return. (3) Fortheloveofart adds blinkers and may improve. Betting strategy: 5 to win, place. Exacta box: 3-5-7-8. Doubles: 3-5-7-8 with 1-2-3-5.

2nd race – (3) Adios Asher (C) dropped from 2-1 to 8-5 and finished a game third while racing wide. Make amends for that loss here. 7th race – (4) Snow Princess debuts for Mott who has enjoyed good success with his firsters of late. (7) Accede makes her first start for Brown and seems ready for a big effort. Picks Notes
#1 Dial Toni She's going to have to work out a trip from the fence, but she has the right style to track the pace from relatively close range, and the cutback around one turn should work in her favor. Something like the debut run would keep her in the picture.
#4 The Princess Says She didn't have the easiest trip in the debut run, but it came in a pretty decent race for the level, and she's tough here if she can move forward with that race under her belt.
#5 Peacock Alley She might be ready to go at first asking for a team that has been going well lately, and getting Geroux in the saddle is always a good thing. Capable -- get a look at her on the tote and track.
Race Summary Dial Toni has made a couple modest middle moves so far, and I wonder if she'll be able to sustain that a bit better while turning back around one bend. Interesting as maybe the second or third choice.

Fair Grounds - Race #8

#5 Therideofalifetime He has faced a couple better groups in those recent starts, and he should be in line for a perfect spying trip with this bunch. Baseline recent effort makes him tough.
#2 Minnesota Ready He has some appeal at this turf sprint trip, as he woke up nicely to score when cutting back last time out, and I think he might like rallying at this trip on the grass -- mom liked the local dash.
#1 Sky and Sand He wasn't embarrassed in a couple stakes tries last year, and he'll return fresh after ending the 3-year-old campaign with a couple mild finishing efforts. Might tuck in and work out a nice trip.
Race Summary Therideofalifetime is pretty reliable and may have some upside while making this second start of the year, and he was last seen running second behind a sprinter who is super sharp on his best day.

Fair Grounds - Race #9
Picks Notes
#6 Peripheral Vision She has gone evenly in a couple starts for twice this price, and I think she has a right to be tough here if she has another step forward in her in this third lifetime start. Like the Colby signs on.
#8 Run Away Samari The Delta special weight form fits pretty well with these, but I'm always at least a little bit wary when they drop like this off flat efforts. Maybe.
#2 Continental Red Think there are enough pace and chasing players in here to make the front end challenging, but I like that she stuck around better last time out, and maybe she has a mild chance to speed pop this group.
Race Summary No strong lean in the finale, but Peripheral Vision has form that might work well with this kind of group, and she may still have some upside at this point in her short career. #1 Love Creed makes sense on debut from the fence, too.
