    RACE 1: Post: 12:30 PT Grade: B+
Main ticket: (in order of preference): 9-Hot Tea
    Backups/savers: none.

Forecast: Hot Tea was well-backed (9/2) in a live race in October of 2021 in her only outing to date and didn’t quite run to her potential when sixth of eight behind three fillies who proceeded to become stakes performers. Now four, the daughter of Nyquist returns for trainer Richard Mandella with a series of breezing workouts that stamp her as a potential standout in this turf dash for maiden fillies and mares. She’ll have to tote 126 lbs. while given away considerable weight to her younger rivals, but it may not matter based on what she’s done in the morning while preparing for her comeback. The barn has superior stats with layoff runners, so with Frankie taking the call let’s make her a strong win play and rolling exotic single.

    RACE 2: Post: 1:00 PT Grade: B-
Main ticket: (in order of preference): 4-Papale; 5-Settecento
    Backups/savers: none.

Forecast: We’ll double the second race, a restricted (nw-3) $20,000 claimer for older horses at a mile on the main track. Papale, claimed in his last pair, was below his best form when pressing the pace before wilting under pressure last time out but his clever win two races back charts well with these, so let’s give him a chance to regain his winning form, especially with the switch to Frankie. He’s probably most effective as the controlling speed, so we’re expecting to see that strategy employed. Settecento exits the same race as our top pick, and after dueling with that one to quarter pole paid the price when fading to fifth in the late stages. The Congrats gelding certainly can improve, as he projects to inherit a comfortable pace stalking position outside and then have every chance from the quarter pole home. We’ll give Papale a very slight edge on top but will use both equally in our rolling exotic play.

    __________________________________________________ ____________________________

    RACE 3: Post: 1:29 PT Grade: A-
Main ticket (in order of preference): 9-Boss
    Sully

    Backups/savers: none.

Forecast: Boss Sully exits an infinitely tougher open maiden turf sprint and under the circumstances didn’t do badly at all after breaking slowly, becoming rank, and then racing wide before staying on well to be fourth while earning a speed figure that should be more than good enough to beat this California-bred field. The son of Street Boss is comfortably drawn outside and can pop and go or stalk and pounce depending upon the race flow. The barn has outstanding stats with the second time starter angle, making this promising colt a standout in the win pool and in the various rolling exotics.

    RACE 4: Post: 1:59 PT Grade: B+
Main ticket (in order of preference): 4-Youteyourhonor
    Backups/Savers: none

Forecast: Youteyourhonor stretches out again after an even effort against a stronger sprint field for the level than this one, and since she’s won two-turning in the past we don’t believe the added distance will be a hindrance. The pace scenario in this five runner main track miler looks soft, so it wouldn’t be out of the question to see this daughter of Danzing Candy inherit the role as the controlling speed. “Win rider” Juan Hernandez stays aboard, so let’s take a stand on this Vladimir Cerin trained mare with five wins from 14 career starts as a straight play and rolling exotic single.

    __________________________________________________ ___________________________
    __________________________________________________ ____________________________

    RACE 5: Post: 2:29 PT Grade: B
Main ticket (in order of preference): 6-Harper’s Gallop; 4-Feathers
    Backups/savers: none

Forecast: Harper’s Gallop has really gotten good of late, most recently taking her field gate to wire in a similar starter’s allowance turf event for $25,000 fillies and mares while doing so like a mare who can score right back. Though she was able to establish a very slow pace in that race before proving impossible to catch, the Leonard Powell-trained 7-year-old mare can win from a stalking position just as well, so Frankie can assess the situation during the early stages and then choose his strategy. Feathers was dull when off the board as the favorite in her most recent outing in November at Del Mar and was subsequently given a breather by new trainer Jeff Mullins, who brings her back protected in a sign of confidence in a race she’s capable of winning with anything close to her best effort. The Irish-bred mare retains Juan Hernandez and seems certain to receive the patient ride that brings out her best. Her recent series of workouts aren’t flashy but should have her fit enough. We’ll prefer Harper’s Gallop on top but use both in rolling exotic play.

    __________________________________________________ ____________________________
    __________________________________________________ ____________________________

    RACE 6: Post: 3:01 PT Grade: B
Main ticket (in order of preference): 5-Beverly Vista; 2-Dillinger
    Backups/savers: 3-Mystification

Forecast: Beverly Vista has done some very good work in the morning leading up to his racing debut, and although bred to run long the son of Arrogate appears to have sufficient quality to be a very live item sprinting in his racing debut. The Phil D’Amato barn hits at a low percentage with first time starters, but this colt could prove to be the exception to the rule. In a competitive maiden special weight sprint for sophomores, he’s worth a play in the win pool but we’ll protect with others in the various rolling exotics. Dillinger finished a willing third in a hot maiden dash at Del Mar last summer in his debut before being stopped on and returns with a work tab that certainly should have him cranked up and ready. The Bob Baffert-trained colt recently breezed six furlongs in 1:11 1/5 from the gate while slightly best over a stable mate to indicate he’s returning as well as he left or perhaps better. The son of Into Mischief is the likely choice and one to beat. Also worth tossing in on a ticket or two as a saver is Mystification, a $250,000 two-year-old in training purchase at the April OBS sale last year. The son of Good Magic may not be a quick type but can turn it on late, and with some help up front might make his presence felt in the closing stages.

    __________________________________________________ ____________________________
    __________________________________________________ ____________________________

    RACE 7: Post: 3:31 PT Grade: B
Main ticket (in order of preference): 5-Tea N Conversation; 3-The Wild Geezer; 6-Princess Bettina
    Backups/savers: none.
Forecast: This year’s edition of the China Doll Stakes is a competitive affair with several possibilities. Listed at 5-1 on the morning line, the improving Tea N Conversation offers some wagering value under the expectation that her development will continue in this one mile grass event for sophomore fillies. The daughter of Candy Ride wants to settle and produce one late kick and if given that type of ride from new jockey John Velasquez she could pull off a mild surprise. In her most recent start, the Michael McCarthy-trained filly rallied against moderate fractions and was going as well as anything in the race in the final stages when winding up fourth, beaten less than two lengths, before galloping out strongly in front past the wire. The Wild Geezer and Princess Bettina, two-three finishers in the China Doll, should fire big shots again and won’t need to improve much to win it. We’ll include them on our ticket but the main punch goes to Tea N Conversation.

    __________________________________________________ __________________________________________________ __________________________________________________ ____________________

    RACE 8: Post: 4:01 PT Grade: B+
Main ticket (in order of preference): 1-Trusty Rusty
    Backups/savers: none

Forecast: Trusty Rusty stretches out for the first time, is a strong fit on speed figures, drops to the bottom level (maiden $30,000) and projects to be on or near the lead throughout in this modest affair for sophomores. All of the stars are aligned for a major effort, one that should be good enough for the son of Tapiture to earn his diploma. Top rider Juan Hernandez stays aboard, so as the second at 5/2 on the morning line the Doug O’Neill-trained ridgeling rates the call in the win pool and is a rolling exotic single.

    __________________________________________________ ____________________________
    __________________________________________________ ____________________________

    RACE 9: Post: 4:31 PT Grade: B
Main ticket (in order of preference): 3-Awesomer Taylor
    Backups/savers: 2-She’s Got a Way; 9-Paleo’s Princess

Forecast: Awesome Taylor looks like an interesting gamble at 8-1 on the morning line in this starter optional abbreviated turf sprint for fillies and mares. She earned a career top speed figure when a better-than-looked fourth over a mile in her first outing since November and should step forward with that tightener under her belt while being re-equipped with blinkers. Her new trainer won three races last week, so perhaps this daughter of Classic Empire can add to the hot streak. She’ll be doing her best work late. She’s Got a Way and Paleo’s Princess finished two-three at this level in an extended sprint last time out; both should be run as well today despite having a furlong less to work with. All three deserve inclusion on your rolling exotic ticket with Awesome Gambler getting the bulk of the play.

    __________________________________________________ __________________________________________________ __________________________________________________ ____________________

    RACE 10: Post: 5:01 PT Grade: A-
Main ticket (in order of preference): 7-Ruby Nell
    Backups/savers: none
Forecast: Ruby Nell ran a whole lot better than the line will show when finishing strongly but too late in a troubled but smart runner-up performance on grass in her debut earlier this meeting. There’s no reason she won’t be able to transfer that type of effort to the main track, especially from her cozy outside draw that will allow her to settle early and accelerate late when given her cue. This a very talented filly, one with stakes potential, and we’re expecting to see her best stuff in this extended dash for maiden sophomore fillies. She’s listed as the solid favorite at 8/5 on the morning line and that seems about right.

    __________________________________________________ ____________________________
    __________________________________________________ ____________________________

    RACE 11: Post: 5:031 PT Grade: A-
Main ticket (in order of preference): 3-Leyas Candy
    Backups/savers: none
Forecast: The finale is a first level allowance slalom affair for California-bred older horses. Leyas Candy was no match for The Chosen Vron in the Tiznow Stakes (no disgrace there) but earned a career top speed figure in doing so and today shortens up, tries turf for the first time, and projects to enjoy an ideal second flight, stalking, ground-saving trip. The Mark Glatt-trained gelding absolutely can win this race if he can transfer his main track form to this tricky downhill course and based on pedigree there’s no reason he shouldn’t be able to do. At 5/2 on the morning line he’s a win play and rolling exotic single.

Al Cimaglia: Meadowlands Late Pick 4 Analysis

      March 18, 2023 | By Al Cimaglia
Tonight, the Meadowlands has a 14-race card in place with a 6:20 EST first post. The 0.50 Late Pick 4 starts in Race 10. The sequence has a $50,000 guaranteed pool with a 15% takeout, and it will be my focus.

Comments and selections below are based on a fast track.

      Race 10

4-Livinthebeachlife (3-1)-Comes in with very sharp form, knows how to win and wired the last field from post 9. Steps-up but fits and draws well. Dunn should be leaving hard and could make every call a winning one.
6-Southwind Gendry (2-1)-Finished 3rd in a needed start after a 3-month hiatus. Burke 6-year-old comes back in sequence and drops in search of an overdue win. Should be a main player versus this kind and could be bet hard.

      Race 11

1-JK Will Power (5-1)-Has been struggling versus better and now drops to a more competitive level. Does good work at M1 (59-10-8-5) and gets a new set of hands in Bartlett. Drawing the rail could help and should offer a solid price.
5-Raptors Flight N (3-1)-Has been in the hunt in the last 3 starts and lost by a half length to 4 from this crew last time. Versatile veteran draws better and should be in the mix at the wire again.

      Race 12

3-High Baller (7/2)-Beaten odds on chalk was badly compromised by a breaker last time. Comes right back at the same class and will look for a big rebound tonight.
4-Love Your Work A (3-1)-This is the 4th US start, was 1st time Lasix last week and raced better. Now drops, draws well, TMac picks over #1, and looks like a major player.
8-De Los Cielos Deo (8-1)-Drops to a more comfortable level and could be in the hunt with a trip. Gingras on #6 could leave but outside of that not much gate speed in this affair. Joe B could blast out and hope to race near the top of the stack.

      Race 13

4-Southwind Bronn (2-1)-Come off a very sharp win and was driven confidently by Dunn to draw off by over 7 lengths. This is the one to beat.
6-Always A Panther (5/2)-Had a 2-race win streak snapped and will excuse that start from the 11-hole. Was used early in the mile to get on the point and faded down the lane. Likes to get on the engine, this time it could happen without burning much gas and the price should be better.

      0.50 Late Pick 4

      4,6/1,5/3,4,8/4,6

Laurel Late Pick 4 Analysis: Saturday, March 18

        March 18, 2023 | By Frank Carulli
It’s Laurel Park’s version of March Madness. The action will be fast and furious with five consecutive stakes on the Saturday card. The $100,000 Harrison Johnson Memorial, Beyond the Wire and Private Terms lead off the 50-cent Late Pick 4. Here’s a closer look at the action with a $32 suggested ticket to follow:

LRL 7th race (3:31 EST) -- NIMITZ CLASS, seeking his third consecutive six-figure stakes victory in the Harrison Johnson Memorial, posted a career-best 101 Beyer and overpowered money burner OURNATIONONPARADE to win the Campbell Handicap at Laurel. Both are major players but neither has a one-mile victory on their resume. The remaining six entrants are a combined 11-for-31 at the distance. Play ‘ALL’ in the opening leg of the Pick 4.

LRL 8th race (4:02 EST) -- PHAROAHS BABY GYAL got Lasix, ran long for the first time and ‘eagerly opened up’ her stretch lead to win an entry-level allowance by 10 lengths. She fired a couple bullet workouts since then for a 28-percent barn with two-month layoff types. LADY LOWERY showed no speed in her 6-1/2F debut on Turfway Park’s synthetic track but closed with a wide rush to finish second. She chased a faster pace than a same-day allowance for older fillies and mares in her second start and edged clear to victory. Her damsire, Revolutionary, won the Grade III Pimlico Special in 2014.

LRL 9th race (4:33 EST) -- REGISTER seized the moment in his maiden-breaking victory at Aqueduct after the other two race favorites encountered trouble. But the son of Kentucky Derby winner Super Saver was resilient, nonetheless, winning a head-and-head stretch battle in his first route attempt. The longer FEELING WOOZY runs, the better he performs. He set a clear pace and finished third in his first stakes attempt last out, now tries two turns for the first time in the Private Terms.

LRL 9th race (5:05 EST) -- RAISE YOUR GAME rallied 4-wide to finish third in a 6F race two starts back that produced three next-out winners. She was no factor in a 7F follow-up try but merits a second look at a good price with ample pace flow to run at. QUEEN OF CLASS rallied into photo-finish view in her last four starts, catching the favorite to win by a neck despite drifting in her most recent start.

        Suggested 50-cent Ticket

        LRL 7th race: ALL
        LRL 8th race: 1, 3
        LRL 9th race: 2, 5
        LRL 10th race: 3, 6

        COST: $32

Jeremy Plonk: Charles Town Mandatory Pick 6 | Saturday, March 18

          March 17, 2023 | By Jeremy Plonk
Saturday’s Pick 6 at Charles Town features a mandatory payout and a carryover expected to top $150,000 if the sequence is not hit by a single ticket Friday. It’s a $1 minimum base play. First post is 7 pm ET with the Pick 6 starting in Race 4 at approximately 8:25 pm ET.

          Charles Town | Race 4 | claiming

Last-out maiden breaker #6 Awesome Moon goes for a hot trainer and jockey over the past month and is a candidate to win right back. Class-dropping #1 I Shallbe Released shortens the trip from 6-1/2 furlongs to 4-1/2 furlongs and that’s not always met with success, especially if she doesn’t break sharp from the rail. But in these 2, you get easily the 2-best statistical jockeys at Charles Town’s dash distance in Marshall Mendez and Arnaldo Bocachica. Seven straight superfecta finishes for career 1-for-32 nibbler / class dropper #5 Real Appeal makes him a contender, but adding 33% cost to the ticket including him with that lifetime ledger is a tough pill to swallow. The gutsy move here may be to single #6 Awesome Moon.

          Charles Town | Race 5 | allowance

The 1-1/16 miles distance is a total X-factor in this race. None of the contenders has won at the trip and 7 of the 8 entrants has between 0 and 2 lifetime attempts this far. Maryland raider #6 Rock Rose exits a Laurel sprint win and should be winging on the lead. Pedigree-wise, he should be able to extend his speed against this class of competition. #8 Elianagrace was a solid third of 8 at 45-1 odds at this class and distance in January. That effort might be good enough here if Rock Rose backs up. 14-time winner #7 Dat Dares Gold fits with these and comes off a solid local win from a tough post. Distance will be the question for the 9-year-old by sprinter Bustin Stones. #1 Likely Choice made a solid-enough first impression locally since coming to the barn of Ronney Brown. The filly who beat her last time came right back to win another allowance. You can make a single-or-spread option here because beyond #6 Rock Rose, the rest need a net to be covered.

          Charles Town | Race 6 | allowance

In a 6-1/2 furlong race absolutely loaded with early speed and several 4-1/2 furlong dash types, #7 Penguin Parade should get a fantastic set-up to try and finish the deal late. From the always-reputed combination of jockey Arnaldo Bocachica and trainer Jeff Runco, this one has had a couple of runner-up finishes at tonight’s non-winners of 4 lifetime condition. Among the front-runners, most interesting is #3 Remys Showtime for a hot recent barn and fresh off the claim, as well as #8 Spanglish, who has some pace versatility and would be best to sit and wait here. #2 One Night Mike is well-drawn and best at this distance.

          Charles Town | Race 7 | allowance

The jockey-trainer combo of Gustavo Larrosa and Kristy Petty are 5-for-12 over the past 15 months and #5 Neverpopthecork looks interesting here after running 3 straight times ahead of his conditions. He drops in vs. likewise non-winners of 2 lifetime foes after needlessly battling non-winners of 3 lifetime in December, January and February. Last-out winners #2 Grumpy’s Buddy and #7 Hazednconfused look best of the rest, but neither jumps off the page. #1 Marched could utilize rail speed. A single would not be inappropriate.

          Charles Town | Race 8 | allowance

Absolutely looks like a two-horse affair with #7 Barber’s Point exiting a fantastic debut win by 8 lengths in a strong time and #5 Nearest N Dearest being a shrewd claim off her Santa Anita maiden breaker in late January. Anything beyond these would be a big surprise. A strong opinion on one or the other cuts the price of the ticket in half and is almost always the best way to approach.

          Charles Town | Race 9 | claiming

#2 Mae Sai Princess fits the conditions of this race strongly with a victory August 13 and butting up closest to the September 18 victory cut-off to be eligible. Disregard her last when becoming unglued in the starting gate (should have been scratched). She has a longshot look in here, but the one to beat obviously will be #5 Tequila Fog for the 33% jockey-trainer combo of Arnaldo Bocachica and Anthony Farrior. But off since May, it’s a massive class drop from $25,000 to $5,000 as one red flag and a gap in the workout tab off the entire month of February as a second. If the wheels come off the favorite, anything goes and it’s a price bonanza.

          The Ticket:

The boldest approach – and one that matches my opinions best with a chance at a big payoff – would be …

          Pick 6: 6 with 6,8,7,1 with 7,3,8,2 with 5 with 7 with ALL = $160 for $1

The more conservative approach and cheaper would be …

          Pick 6: 6,1 with 6 with 7,3,8,2 with 5,2,7,1 with 7 with 2,5 = $64

            #6
            Brian W. Spencer's Daily Picks

            Turfway Park - Race #2
#9 Narrows Bridge She posted a 40/1 upset with similar last out when cutting back on the class drop, and I'm willing to take a mid-range price here to find out if she can run back to that one while staying around one turn here.
#7 Nana's Gray Dropper was competitive with similar a couple starts back, and she has room to rebound while getting back into an easier spot. Worry she's overbet.
#4 Helen Mae's Song Pace has run okay here in the past and might be quick enough to have a go on the engine. Wouldn't be surprised to see her stick around for a piece of this.
Race Summary Narrows Bridge won't offer that 40/1 price this time around, but I think she'll still be playable, and she really woke up when getting back to this kind of level last out.
            Turfway Park - Race #5
#10 Trashtalkinyankee He might have a little upside in this second start of the year, and I think his better stuff would keep him in the mix with these at a price. Enough to like.
#4 Pyron He'll make his local debut after only moving mildly with stakes company last out on the Fair Grounds turf, and he has generally faced a lot better than he's going to find here. Wouldn't surprise to see him wake up.
#3 Samurai Prince Forward player can lead or press, and he has historically done really good work over the local footing. He can be a handful again if he can hold that form off the sharp comeback effort.
Race Summary Trashtalkinyankee will likely get a bit overlooked in this one, but he has some back efforts that might make him competitive with this bunch for a barn that has landed a few winners this meet from minimal starters.
            Turfway Park - Race #7
#9 Literary Like the way she stepped up so nicely for the new team last out when rising to this level and landing a share, and she may still offer a nice price for a team that has struggled this meet.
#4 Bella Morning Not much to write home about here on form, but she's back off the bench with a little room to come forward in just her second start with claiming company, and this isn't like the groups she has faced so far. Not out of the question at a price.
#3 Party Next Door Wouldn't argue with anyone landing here off the reliable finishing form around one turn, and she seems like the type who might be capable of sustaining that run going long -- something that isn't always the case for stretchout finishers.
Race Summary Willing to stand against #7 Olive's Candy who drops hard off the special weight dud for the Cox barn, but she's an obvious player against cheaper for this team. Literary and Bella Morning had the most potential price appeal for me in here.

#4 SIR SAMUEL (4-1) Had dead aim on victory at sixteenth pole two back, settled for second.
#8 GOOD SOLDIER (7-2) Ran into early traffic trouble as beaten fave in repeat try, enters new barn.
#7 WARP SPEED BABY (8-1) Can make better use of his speed on the return to turf, use in gimmicks.
Race Summary SIR SAMUEL rallied for third from post 12 at this level and is reunited with Jose Ortiz, who coaxed a runner-up finish from the 4-year-old the only time he rode him. Bet to win and place and play a 4-7-8 exacta box.
              Gulfstream Park - Race #6
#2 STRONG EMBRACE (2-1) Trapped until stretch, unwound too late in longer route race.
#1 ROYAL JUBILEE (10-1) Got the jump on 4-to-5 fave and won in maiden race dominated by closers.
#5 TRUE BLUE PEARL (5-2) Got first run on top one, couldn’t sustain it, tries blinkers.
Race Summary STRONG EMBRACE, unhurried tracking a slow pace, swung widest in early stretch and found her best footing too late. She meets several of the same contenders and will be an underlay, but believe she’s good enough to beat these. Bet to win and place.
              Gulfstream Park - Race #10
#2 ASTROTURF (6-1) Second to fave under these conditions two starts back, lures Gaffalione.
#5 MOPED DENNIS (3-1) Edged clear off freshening at 7F, could return quick claim dividend.
#4 ROYAL KITTEN (9-2) Bounced back well from two dismal efforts, adds blinkers.
Race Summary ASTROTURF switched to the conventional dirt two starts back and finished second on the class drop to this level. He benefited from a lively pace but followed the 3-wide move of the 6-to-5 winner at this distance. Bet to win and place.

                    Race 5 - SA - 8.0f on the Turf. Purse: $40000 Class Rating: 95

FOR FILLIES AND MARES FOUR YEARS OLD AND UPWARD WHICH HAVE STARTED FOR A CLAIMING PRICE OF $25,000 OR LESS IN 2021 - 2023. WEIGHT, 124 LBS. NON-WINNERS OF A RACE SINCE DECEMBER 18 ALLOWED 2 LBS.

                    RECOMMENDED CHOICES
                    # 2 LADY JAE 3/1
                    # 8 LA VIKINA 8/1
                    # 7 ALOHA KITTEN 5/1
My choice in this race is LADY JAE. Her 86 average has this mare with among the most competitive speed figures in this event. Has been moving admirably and has among the strongest speed in the race for today's distance. LA VIKINA - This animal must be wagered on at the expected high odds. Has to be given consideration in this event if only for the quite good speed rating put up in the last contest. ALOHA KITTEN - Risk takers ought to take a good look at this one as this mare has one of the best win percentages at this distance in this field. This mare is a key contender based on her earnings per start in turf route contests.

The jock and handler combination have a lucrative return on investment when they team up. This horse is number one in earnings per race. He looks strong in today's event. OUSTER - I like to bet on this angle, a horse coming back off a nice contest within the last 30 days. The last figure of 103 is the highest last race speed fig in the group. Look at this pattern of improvement. 86/94/103 are the last three speed ratings. HUSH OF A STORM - Morey has this gelding placed in the right contest. WHITTINGTON PARK - Have to make this colt a serious competitor; he comes off a solid race on February 19th. This jock and trainer have a positive ROI when they combine forces.

Vulnerable Contenders: #1 FULL MOON FEVER (ML=1/1), #2 SUNDAESWITHSANDY (ML=6/1),

FULL MOON FEVER - Hasn't raced or had any drills since February 20th. Not much value on this morning-line favorite. Unlikely that the fig he registered on February 20th will hold up in this event. SUNDAESWITHSANDY - Most unsatisfactory speed figure in the last race at Aqueduct at 1 mile. Don't believe this vulnerable equine will improve too much today.

STRAIGHT WAGERS: Go with #3 LISTENTOYOURHEART on top if we're getting at least 9/2 odds

                        #6 HARPERSGONEFISHING (ML=9/2)

HARPERSGONEFISHING - Looking at today's class figure, this horse is up against an easier bunch than last time around the track at Charles Town. My friends and I have made bucks playing horses with this type of speed. Follow my advice and do the same. Getting a weight break of 6 pounds from last race at Charles Town on Jan 4th. Could be helpful right here. Entered a Maiden Special race at Charles Town last race out and raced on a track listed as good finishing fourth. Should do much better in this event.

                        Vulnerable Contenders: #3 GOLDEN ARROW (ML=8/5), #2 HE'S CLEVER (ML=2/1), #1 DON'TCALLTOOEARLY (ML=5/1),

GOLDEN ARROW - Difficult to bet on any vulnerable equine in a short distance contest if he hasn't finished in the money in a sprint in the last sixty days. Finished fourth in his most recent effort with a quite unimpressive speed figure. When I look at today's Equibase class figure, it would take an improved performance to prove victorious after that in this field. HE'S CLEVER - Looked good on Feb 15th, finishing third, but no morning blow outs since is a bit troublesome. DON'TCALLTOOEARLY - If you keep betting these kind of 'hanger' types, you're going to be disillusioned frequently. This questionable contender has no victories at Charles Town. When looking at today's class figure, he will have to garner a better speed rating than last race out to battle in this dirt sprint.

                          # 8 FEELTHEBEAT 9/2
My pick in here is DISCREET TUNE. Is hard not to look at based on Equibase Speed Figs which have been very good - 94 avg - of late. Don't let this horse slip past you. Could prove victorious at a juicy mutuel. Trainers don't bring horses back this soon for no reason. NIC'S BRO - With a very strong 93 speed rating last time out, will unquestionably be a factor in this competition. Has performed strongly lately in sprint races, posting a nifty 93 avg speed figure. FEELTHEBEAT - Has a strong record at the distance and surface, which makes me lean toward this gelding.
