READY SHE IS is my choice. Is hard not to consider based on speed figures which have been decent - 72 avg - of late. Giddings makes a blinkers change (going on today), looking for better results. Will most likely come out sharp - I have liked the way this filly has moved sharply to the lead recently. RUN FOR COVER - She looks competitive in this spot and I expect will be on the front end or close at the halfway point. Recorded a reliable Equibase Speed Fig in the latest race. Can run another good one in this race.

Dropping a significant amount in class rating this time out puts her in a solid position in this field. When Maragh and Shivmangal join forces on horses the return on investment has been great at +505. This filly is rounding her way back into shape. Should race well today. This filly is tops in earnings per race entered. Check out this horse in the paddock.

BASTET - There's speed, zip, and more speed in this event. Doesn't look good for this horse. Don't feel this mount will make an impact in today's race. That last speed rating was disappointing when compared with today's class rating. LONDON GOLD - In the last event this less than sharp equine finished sixth. Doesn't look good for her chances this time. This filly garnered a speed rating in her last event which probably isn't good enough in today's race. ICE COLD GOLD - If today's affair shapes up right, all the early speed horses will force a severe speed duel early. Too bad this equine is one of those front runners.

CHOPPER - All systems look good for this gelding. Last workout, 2nd fastest of the day, shows he's fit and ready. The jockey and handler combination have a profitable return on investment when they work together. RISKY BOY - Winless in his last three starts, this gelding's last win came on December 30th at the same level and distance of today's race. I think this gelding is ready to run a good one. He's had enough efforts since the vacation and should be fit. Lets try to beat the favorites with this gelding. Just missed last out, but ran a respectable race. DEVIL'S RULE - This gelding has higher odds on the morning line than the other entrant from the stable of Cook. Better watch out for this angle. This gelding was sharp enough to post a 'top two' workout recently. I think he's ready for today's event. This horse could be a possible overlay in this field at M/L odds of 20/1. Finished sixth in last race at Hawthorne but was close at the wire. Have to like the way Cook has raced this gelding back into shape off the layoff. Animal is well spotted in this sprint and I think he'll run well today.

EASTER MUSIC - Today's event is 6 furlongs. Hasn't finished in the money in a short distance race in the last couple of months. Not the best of signs. I usually try to beat these types of morning-line favorites off the long layoff. TAKE ME UP BRADY - Today's event is 6 furlongs. Hasn't hit the board in a sprint race in the last couple of months. Not the greatest of indicators. Difficult to put your dough on the win end of any horse that finishes second and third as often as this horse does. D'ARCHER - Notched a pedestrian fig last time out in a $5,000 Claiming race on March 5th. Unlikely to see an improved performance off of that fig.

GUEST COMMENTARY: The Brain - CHOPPER - Racing pattern would suggest this entrant is fit and ready for today's race. I'd calculate a good performance.

Thursday TimeformUS Highlight Horse: Treasure Trove can rebound in return to Aqueduct

This 9-furlong optional claimer may have only attracted 6 runners, but it’s one of the most intriguing races of the day. Todd Pletcher has entered a pair of colts coming off lengthy layoffs. Commandperformnance (#2) was one of the top 2-year-olds of 2021, finishing second in the Grade 1 Champagne. Yet he just never panned out as an holder horse, and needs to improve significantly in this comeback performance.

Kuchar (#5) is a little more appealing as he returns from a similar layoff. He was heading in the right direction for Rodolphe Brisset last year prior to being purchase by his current connections for $500k last July. Yet it’s a little strange that he was given a layoff following that purchase. Furthermore, for all of Todd Pletcher’s success off layoffs, he is just 1 for 8 ($0.45 ROI) off layoffs of at least 180 days in dirt races at 9 furlongs or farther over 5 years.

The other horses who could take money are Tonal Impact (#1) and Celestial Moon (#4). The former is proven at this distance and just seems fairly logical. However, I didn’t think he had major excuses to lose either of his last two starts, hanging in the late stages on both occasions. I wonder if he’s just hit a plateau. Celestial Moon may have more upside after just beating a strong field at the N1X allowance level. He has some things to prove stretching out around two turns on dirt, but I like the way he’s progressing.

My top pick is TREASURE TROVE (#6). By far the most experienced member of this field, and the only one offered for the $62,500 tag, he doesn’t possess the upside of his rivals. Yet he ran a race that would make him awfully tough for this field to beat when he was last seen at Aqueduct in February, rallying to victory going this distance, earning a career-best 118 TimeformUS Speed Figure. He’s failed to hit the board in three starts since then, but he’s been compromised by some slow paces in those subsequent starts. That was particularly true last time at Laurel when he was ridden too conservatively. Trainer Lynn Cash tends to get the best out of his horses when they come to the NYRA circuit and I like the rider switch to Trevor McCarthy.

#4 Anotherdaygoneby was fifth at this level last time out when moving back to the synthetic surface. She should improve in his second straight start over the surface. #5 Bullock goes for two in a row today after winning against weaker horses last time out over this surface.

Race 7: Allowance Optional Claiming

#5 Peachy Weachy was a close second at this level last time out over this track. Cutting back to 7 furlongs might be perfect for her. #3 Rosie’s Halo won against Florida breds two starts back before running third against open company at this level last time out.

Race 8: Maiden Claiming

#2 Rough and Rowdy was a solid fourth on debut last time out, losing by less than 2-lengths at this level. He should improve today off of that effort. #4 Gentleman Gerry was third last time out at this level, which was his second start over the turf. He should improve in this start today.

5th race [NY, Alw 72000 N1X, 1 1/8 mi] – (7) Mason Mania (C) ran one of the best races of his career when he was bet down from 12-1 to 8-1 and rallied from a stalking position to finish second by a nose but was well ahead of the rest of the field. (6) Spirit of St. Louis was an open length winner of his debut back in February for Chad Brown on a sloppy track. (5) Golden Code was third in the Gotham (G3) last year and has two improving starts this year after a long layoff. (4) Olympic Dreams broke her maiden last time.

6th race [Clm 12500, 1 1/8 mi] – (3) Vintage Hollywood (C) was bet down from 6-1 to 4-1, had the early lead, battled down the stretch, missed by a nose after getting bumped near the wire, and got claimed for $8,000. (4) Hammerin Aamer won for a $16,000 tag three races back and was claimed. The last two races he was in too tough and now drops down. (1A) Caribbean drops down in class significantly and gets a big rider upgrade to Jose Ortiz. (5) Truculent was claimed out of a front-end victory for $10,000 going the nine-furlongs.

7th race [OC 62k/N2X, 1 1/8 mi] – (5) Kuchar returns from a long layoff and moves to the Todd Pletcher barn. Last year he was second in two stakes at Churchill Downs and Oaklawn Park. (2) Commandperformance has also been off since last summer for Pletcher and was second in the Champagne (G1) as a 2-year-old and a maiden. (4) Celestial Moon returned from a layoff to win an allowance at Aqueduct last month. (1) Tonal Impact finished in the top three in his last nine starts with five wins in high price claimers, starter allowance, and a first-level allowance.

8th race [NY, Md Sp Wt, 6F] – (1) Dream On Cara was second last time out while adding Lasix for the first. She was fourth twice in NY-bred stakes races. (7) Midnite Confession will make her racing debut and is a half-sister to the multiple stakes winner Betsy Blue. (5) Danseur d’Oro was second following an eight-month layoff. (8) Splashy was fourth in her debut for the Clement barn in November at 5-1. She gets Lasix for her second start.
