Churchill Downs - Race #4

#9 Heckled	I really liked her last time out, but she didn't get the easiest of runs that day and might still have some room to come forward in this third lifetime start. Willing to give her another chance here.
#8 Gloria's Princess	She probably hits hard with these if she's even able to hold the form from a really good Gulfstream debut, but I think the price is going to reflect that. Guessing she's in line for another good trip near the top.
#3 Wardeya	She moves to turf for the second trip to post, and that debut run at Gulfstream was solid enough to think she stacks up here on talent. Obvious player on the surface switch.
Race Summary	Think the logical players make a lot of sense in here, but the hope is Heckled will offer something mildly playable if the other listed pair take some cash. She probably isn't too far off what it might take to land this one.

Churchill Downs - Race #9

#5 Danse Macabre	She landed a Grade III win in what might not have been the best renewal of that one in Florida, but she has a little sprint back class that makes her interesting while turning back. Feels like there might be a bit of purpose here at a price.
#8 Shootoutthelights	Nothing wrong with the fast Gulfstream debut, but she'll meet some tougher customers today and will have to prove herself at what figures to be a short kind of price. Obvious threat for a team that's dangerous with these flashy fast types.
#9 My Sweet Affair	She finished nicely from deeper off the pace than she was in her debut in that stakes try, and she has already shown a little bit of talent through two starts. Versatile type can adapt and close.
Race Summary	Danse Macabre cuts back for this one rather than trying another route stakes spot, and she has shown enough pace in the past to suggest she can hang early. #1 Anna's Arabesque would be a surprise on top for me as the field's only winless runner, but I wonder if the plan is to just save ground and relax early before seeing if they can pick anything up with a late rally. Sneaky underneath?

Churchill Downs - Race #10

#4 Forever Cool	He has been away a touch slowly in both lifetime starts, but he debuted in a good spot at Fair Grounds and comes out of what feels like a good special weight at Keeneland. Barn is 31% with these types locally the last few years. Guessing he'll wake up on the drop.
#12 Moonovermontgomery	Debuter goes first out in what feels like a reasonable enough spot, and I like the draw to give his rider a couple options out of the gate depending on where this guy's natural pace places him early.
#9 Air Kenney	He flashed only brief speed in the Del Mar debut last summer, but he's back as a gelding with Lasix and blinkers in a spot without a ton of super serious early burn. Wouldn't be totally shocked to see him pop this group from the gate.
Race Summary	Forever Cool has been in decent spots before fading in both career starts, but he's in with maiden claimers for the first time for a team that does really good work with these types of one-turn runners in similar spots.

HENRY'S WORLD - Was in a non-classified race race at Tampa Bay Downs last time out. That affair had a class rating of 97 and he is moving down in this event. A certain strong challenger. This horse is number one in earnings per start. He looks sharp in today's contest. BLAME BISHOP - The April 19th race at Tampa Bay Downs was at a class level of (87). Dropping down in class ranks considerably, so he should be in a good position. Rounding his way back into form. Each of his finish positions is getting better in his recent starts.

Vulnerable Contenders: #5 TEN MILES HIGH (ML=7/2), #1 LUSCIOUS (ML=9/2), #4 ADIOS BOBBY (ML=5/1),

TEN MILES HIGH - The addition of bandages last out is usually a sign of waning form. LUSCIOUS - You always think this equine has a shot to win, but she comes up short most every time. The finish of third in the last race shows me that this animal may be losing physical conditioning. ADIOS BOBBY - No picnic to play any thoroughbred in a short distance event at 5/1 when he hasn't shown any successful endeavors in sprints in the last two months. The long breather since October 25th is somewhat discouraging.

GUEST COMMENTARY: The Brain - BLAME BISHOP - A tried and true angle. Take a sprinter in the third and fourth start after a layoff. That's the time when they peak.

I think OKIE CODE is a competitive choice. She has been running solidly and the Equibase Speed Figures are among the best in this field. Will most likely be one of the leaders of the bunch going into the midpoint of the contest. Ran a very strong last race. EURA NORTHERN SKY - This filly is a definite contender based on her earnings per start in dirt sprint races. Always good to invest in a trainer with this kind of strong win percentage - 18 percent - at this distance & surface. CAT TALE BREEZE - Has been running admirably lately and should be up on the front end early on. Corderman is serious with this one, wheeling her right back.

THE DRAKE is the top wager in this contest and is a very good value bet given the line at 8/1. The average class rating alone makes this horse a key contender. Has been travelling well and has among the most competitive speed in the race for today's distance. Could go off at a solid price and has some positives going for him. KEYED ON TOP - Will almost certainly go to the lead and could never look back. Had one of the best Speed Figures of this group of horses in his last contest. COLONEL MIKE - Ran a very solid last race. Overall the Equibase Speed Figs of this pony look respectable in this contest.

TDZ CORRIENDA STAR - Have to give this filly a chance. Ran a strong race last out within the last 30 days. This horse could be tough this time, especially since Barrera rode in the last race and now should be acquainted with this one. This filly garnered a strong figure of 38 in her last race. That speed fig should be strong enough to win this time out. MALLORY UNBRIDLED - The April 15th race at Evangeline Downs was at a class level of (61). Dropping down the class scale considerably, so she should be in a good spot to take this race. Look for this filly to show better right here. Last race at Evangeline Downs finishing sixth on a track listed as good is no indication of her true talent. Lasix can take some getting used to, especially for a filly. They usually hit stride the 2nd time using it, like we have with this horse.

Vulnerable Contenders: #1 STARSNMOTION (ML=2/1), #4 RUN AWAY SAMARI (ML=7/2), #8 PAYTON'S INDIAN (ML=6/1),

STARSNMOTION - Most of the time I need a sprinter to have some recent success in short distance contests in order to play her. RUN AWAY SAMARI - 7/2 is not pegged at the proper price for any horse in a sprint of 5 furlongs that hasn't finished in the money in a short distance event recently. PAYTON'S INDIAN - Finished third in her most recent race with a mediocre fig. When I look at today's class figure, it would take an improved performance to score after that in this group.
