Horseshoe Indianapolis - Race #5

#2 Anchor Manne	He didn't miss by a whole lot at 44/1 at Keeneland last time out and has really seemed to turn a bit of a corner in recent starts since trying two turns for the first time. Anything like his recent tries against open company should be more than enough to land this.
#5 Zipsy Rose Lee	She has had 13 chances, but her best stuff puts her in the top tier in this bunch, and she's a pretty reliable finisher. Let's see if she's ready off the bench, but she makes sense if the chalk doesn't bring her best. Filly fits with the boys.
#12 Prince Shim	He has playable pace from the outside and isn't a bad fit with the local special weight crews. He is another who has already had plenty of chances, but he seems likely to hang for a share.
Race Summary	Have to imagine Anchor Manne is going to take some cash after a trio of really good efforts this year in Kentucky, and his baseline effort should do the trick. Wouldn't be shocked to see something a bit better from #11 Gray Mike here today at a big price, too.

Horseshoe Indianapolis - Race #6

#9 Screaming Virginia	Think there are a handful of interesting firsters on paper, so get a look at them on the track and tote, but I think this one might be live at a decent enough price right out of the box. There are a couple barns in here who generally do good work but have burned a lot of money in these types of races over the last couple years. Overlooked just a bit?
#8 Heavenly Dream	She seems like she might be ready enough to land this at first asking for a team that has won a couple similar races in recent years. Both from this barn make sense here, but I don't think the prices are going to be all that appealing.
#7 Anoria	She has an experience edge on most of these but only chased briefly in the Keeneland debut run. Wouldn't be surprised to see her take a step forward with that race under her belt. Logical.
Race Summary	Screaming Virginia has the most appeal to me on paper ahead of this one, as I'm not sold on a couple first-timers who seem likely to take some cash, leaving this one hopefully at a mid-range price. #6 Designated is another debuter I want to take a look at.

Horseshoe Indianapolis - Race #7

#11 Habuiah	She really found her home on the turf here last season, and she brings a steady enough series of works to think she might be ready to fire off the layoff. Think the price might stay playable enough, and there's nothing wrong with getting Morales up. He has been the best turf route rider for your betting dollar here over the last few years -- and it's not even close.
#4 Selenaia	She tries winners for the first time off the bench after moving forward nicely in her second career start. She was adding Lasix and trying a much softer circuit in that spot, but I like that she overcame a touch of adversity that day and think she's one of the obvious ones today.
#3 Landslid	Finisher gets a class hike for this, and she hasn't been embarrassed when facing similar allowance company in the past. Can easily see her advancing into contention on the turn and getting home.
Race Summary	Lots to like with Habuiah coming off the layoff, as she should find a great tactical spot if she's ready to roll off today. Selenaia and Landslid both have some appeal in a race where I think you can make a case for about half of them.

Race Summary	DEE JAY chased Dr. Steve (5-12, $166k), a repeat wire-to-wire winner, after a slow start. He advanced on the final turn but settled for second best in his bid for three wins in a row. He can maximize his speed in this spot but must carry it farther. Bet to win and place.

Penn National - Race #2

#3 EDWARD MADDEN (5-1)	Resilient in class-dropping victory, can return quick claim dividend.
#4 KEEPING IT COUNTRY (6-1)	Tracked dueling leaders, awaited room in lane, out-kicked by top pair.
#5 SPOOKY ONE (5-2)	Exits fast heat, ran third in 3 of 4 starts against better prior to that.
Race Summary	EDWARD MADDEN lost the lead between calls in the stretch but battled back and held off the fast-closing favorite to prevail. He can repeat for his new connections with second-time Lasix. Bet to win and place and play a 3,4/3,4,5/ALL trifecta.

#3 ZILLION (3-1)	Bid 3-wide to challenge winner, seldom runs a bad one, though often as the favorite.

Aviles has a win percentage of 15 over the last month. DANZING CHICK - Has been running strongly lately and should be up near the front end early on. Looks like a sound contender for the exotics. ALWAYS MISCHIEVOUS - Ought to be carefully examined based on the quite good speed figure earned in the last contest.

TUFF MANDATE - I really like sprinters that make a fast turnaround. Have to give this gelding a fair chance. Ran a nice effort last out within the last 30 days. I like this gelding. Has the highest earnings per race entered in here today.

SPEND AGAIN - You should normally bet against morning-line choices that haven't raced or show no activity in the morning over the last three weeks. LITTLE MAD MAX - Don't feel this mount will make a winning move in today's race. That last speed rating was quite unimpressive when compared with today's class figure. May bounce off of that last extreme effort. GOSPEL BONANZA - In the last event this vulnerable equine finished eighth. Doesn't look good for his chances in today's event. Finished eighth in his most recent race with a run-of-the-mill speed figure. When I look at today's class rating, it would take an improved performance to triumph after that in this group.

MARYLAND MAGIC has a decent shot to take this race. Is a strong contender based on figures earned lately under today's conditions. Is difficult not to consider based on speed figs which have been very strong - 86 avg - of late. Had one of the best speed figures of this group in his last affair. BODHI - Will most likely come out strong - I have liked the way this gelding has moved speedily to the lead recently. With a very good 81 speed rating last time out, will definitely be a factor in this race. ZOXTOBEYOU - With a sound 87 average speed rating at the distance, seems well suited for today's race. Had one of the top speed figs of this group in his last outing.

BOURBON DAY - Looking at the information on all of these horses, this is the only one to stalk. Worth a serious look at this horse. I expect a lot from this horse. His speed ratings under similar conditions are tops in this bunch. The Apr 7th race at Evangeline Downs was at a class level of (76). Dropping to a lower class rank considerably, so he should be in a good spot. UP N GONE - A thoroughbred coming back this soon after a nice contest is a good signal. He finished in the place spot Apr 28th, but was well ahead of the show horse. Should do well right here. Weight shift of -10 from Apr 28th race at Evangeline Downs.

Vulnerable Contenders: #2 CREEKSIDE (ML=5/2), #4 STEP ON IT (ML=9/2), #3 BOLT FROM ABOVE (ML=5/1),

CREEKSIDE - Hasn't been on the Evangeline Downs oval in the last 3 weeks. Cause for some concern. STEP ON IT - Mediocre fig last out at Evangeline Downs at 7 1/2 furlongs. Don't feel this runner will improve too much in today's event. BOLT FROM ABOVE - Doesn't seem to be worth 5/1 today. Pass on him this time.
