    Grade Descriptions:
    Grade A=Highest degree of confidence
    Grade B=Solid Play.
    Grade C=Least preferred or pass
Grade X=probable winner but likely at odds too short to play

    __________________________________________________ ____________________________
    RACE 1: Post: 1:00 PT Grade: A-
Main ticket: (in order of preference): 1-Pushiness
    Backups/savers: none.

Forecast: The first time starter Pushiness looked very much like a soon winner in a sharp :46 3/5 solo bullet gate work earlier this month, and in a race that came up light the daughter of Kantharos should be a short priced favorite to win this abbreviated dash for state-bred juvenile fillies. Her sire gets precocious runners and this daughter of Kantharos, a $115,000 yearling purchase, appears blessed with the type of quickness that should make her rail draw inconsequential. We’ll consider anything even remotely close to her morning line of 2-1 an overlay for this logical rolling exotic single.

    *

    RACE 2: Post: 1:30 PT Grade: C+
Main ticket: (in order of preference): 3-Katerini; 1-Paleo’s Princess
    Backups/savers: 7-Inner Beauty.

Forecast: We’ll spread the second race, an extended turf sprint for restricted (nw-2) $32,000 claimers. Katerini is re-equipped with blinkers (she wore them without success twice in 2021) and gets a reasonable spot to make amends after finishing close third as the favorite under similar conditions last month. Her only career victory was accomplished over the local lawn, and in a field lacking in early speed the daughter of Broken Vow should find herself within striking range throughout. Paleo’s Princess drops into a claimer for the first time since she graduated for $50,0000 just over a year ago sprinting on this grass course, and in her first start since being transferred to the Librado Barocio barn the daughter of Square Eddie looks well-placed to regain her best form. She’s a fit on speed figures and is guaranteed a ground-saving trip from the rail. Inner Beauty is worth including as a backup. She returned off a 10-month layoff to finish second in the same race Katerini wound up third (they finished a half-length apart) and with even the slightest of forward moves should pose a threat again, her outside draw notwithstanding.

    *

    RACE 3: Post: 2:03 PT Grade: C+
Main ticket (in order of preference): 7-Crazy Hot; 5-Conquest Celsius
    Backups/savers: none.

Forecast: Conquest Celsius was a well-backed favorite (4/5) when debuting in a similar state-bred juvenile dash for fillies last month but stumbled badly at the start, lost her position, and then couldn’t make up the needed ground despite having the length of the lane to do so in what turned out to be a slowly run race. The number came up especially weak, so while she probably deserves another chance, we’d prefer a newcomer to beat her, though to be honest the first timers in this field hardly inspire. We haven’t seen the Goldencents filly Crazy Hot on video so we don’t know enough about her to have a strong opinion one way or the other, but she did bring $75,000 at auction as a yearling, her dam was a Saratoga stakes winner, and she shows a couple of bullet drills during the early stages of her current workout cycle, so let’s make an educated guess and put the Jeff Bonde-trained filly on top by default while doubling the race in rolling exotic play.

    *

    RACE 4: Post: 2:38 PT Grade: B
Main ticket (in order of preference): 5-Ever Smart; 1-Aloha Kitten
    Backups/Savers: none.

Forecast: Ever Smart finished a respectable third (beaten one length) in the Golden Poppy Stakes at Golden Gate Fields three weeks ago and returns to the allowance optional claiming ranks today over a turf course that always has been kind to her. The Neil Drysdale-trained mare does her best work when stalking or pressing the early pace, and in a five horse affair with just one committed front runner (Angel Nadeshiko) the daughter of Broken Vow should easily be able to secure her type of trip from her outside draw. With numbers that can win and having finished first or second in five of seven prior races over the local lawn, the six year mare should have no excuses. Aloha Kitten lands the good rail and is guaranteed an ideal, ground-saving journey. Third with a less-than-ideal trip in a similar affair at Golden Gate Fields late last month, the Craig Dollase-trained daughter of Kitten’s Joy is solid in the speed figure department, likes this turf course, and projects to have every chance. The main concern is that she’s only won once from 15 starts during the last two years.

    *

    RACE 5: Post: 3:22 PT Grade: X
Main ticket (in order of preference): 6-Mor Tequila
    Backups/savers: none.

Forecast: More Tequila got into a speed duel with Brazen Bull in his comeback in a similar event last month and paid the price late when weakening to finish third, but this time from his cozy outside draw pace-stalking tactics likely will be employed, and the projected softer trip should make the winning difference. The son of Mor Spirit earned a strong speed figure in defeat, so if he can move forward at all today the Bob Baffert-trained colt should have every chance to pose for pictures. At 8/5 on the morning line, he’ll probably not offer much value in the straight pool but can be usable as a logical rolling exotic single.

    *

    RACE 6: Post: 4:30 PT Grade: B+
Main ticket (in order of preference): 3-Ruby Nell
    Backups/savers: none.

Forecast: Ruby Nell displayed an affection for turf when she finished a closing second in her sprint debut behind the speedy A G Bullet in a hot race over the local lawn and today returns to grass while stretching out for the first time in a maiden special weight affair that should be well within her capabilities. The daughter of Bolt d’ Oro already has been a beaten favorite twice from three starts so she may not be one to totally trust, but under today’s conditions the Richard Mandella-trained filly is worth giving one more chance to. There’s good value at or near her morning line of 5/2 if you can get it, so let’s make her a strong win play and rolling exotic single.

    *

    RACE 7: Post: 5:00 PT Grade: B
Main ticket (in order of preference): 3-Liddell
    Backups/savers: none.

Forecast: The known element certainly isn’t much in this weak sprint for older horses so let’s sink or swim with a fresh face. Liddell brought $105,000 as a yearling and finally makes it to the post in this bottom-rung maiden $20,000 event, not exactly a sign of confidence from trainer Dan Blacker, whose record with first time starters isn’t one to write home about. However, the son of Super Saver actually has trained okay leading up to his debut after being in serious training last summer before being turned out, so while the long range prospects for this gelding must be questioned he does strike us as capable of winning at first asking against this bunch. Under good speed rider Edwin Maldonado (a “go-to” jockey for this outfit), he’s 6-1 on the morning line and at that price he’s worth a gamble as a win play and rolling exotic single.

    *

    RACE 8: Post: 5:30 PT Grade: B
Main ticket (in order of preference): Very Scary; 5-Elm Drive; 8-Big Summer
    Backups/savers: 3-Freedom Flyer.

Forecast: The feature race today is a contentious renewal of the Mizdirection Stakes that requires considerable coverage in rolling exotic play. Very Scary has been two-turning almost exclusively during her career but this shortening to a turf sprint could easily produce a career top performance. Graded stakes placed in her last two starts with rapidly rising speed figures, the daughter of Connect projects to settle into an ideal stalking position and then have every chance from the dirt crossing to the wire. She’s listed at 5-1 on the morning line and offers a good gambling opportunity at or near that price. Elm Drive may be the quickest in the field, and if she can transfer her excellent dirt form to the Hillside Course the Phil D’Amato-trained filly could inherit the role as the controlling speed. She’s fast on numbers and sports a recent bullet training track workout (5f, 1:00.4h, fastest of 19) to indicate she remains right on edge. Big Summer always is there or thereabouts and is especially effective (two prior wins) over this trickly downhill layout. Drawn comfortably outside, the daughter of Mr. Big should settle in the second flight outside and then accelerate when turned loose in the final quarter of a mile. Genuine and consistent, she has finished first or second in 11 of 13 career starts. Freedom Flyer won the Wishing Well Stakes down the hill in mid-February from similar company and a repeat of that race today makes here a major player once again. You have to include here somewhere on your ticket.

    *

    RACE 9: Post: 6:00 PT Grade: B
Main ticket (in order of preference): 3-Joker Boy; 6-Strike That
    Backups/savers: none.

Forecast: Joker Boy exits an infinitely tougher couple of races and this drop from starter allowance company to a straight $20,000 claimer should make the winning difference for this hard knocking son of Practical Joke. A winner over this track and distance for this price in mid-February, the 4-year-gelding actually earned a career top speed figure when a non-threatening fifth behind next out winner Lovesick Blues in his most recent outing six weeks ago and a recent sharp gate drill (5f, :59.3hg, fastest of 55) indicates that the Doug O’Neill sprinter is all set to regain his winning form. His morning line price of 5/2 seems reasonable. Strike That is another that should enjoy this softer assignment, and from his cozy outside draw the son of Biondetti projects to draft into a good pace setting/stalking position and remain a strong factor throughout. He is consistently fast on speed figures and has finished first or second in nine of 15 career starts. We expect the winner to be one of these two, and both should be included in rolling exotic play.

    *

    RACE 10: Post: 6:30 PT Grade: B-
Main ticket: (in order of preference): 2-Seven Charms; 7-Nineeleventurbo
    Backups/savers: 5-Durante.

Forecast: The finale is a grass grab bag for starter allowance ($50,000) older runners over a mile. Best advice is to spread as deeply as your budget allows. Though he’s been away since July of last year, Seven Charms looks like a live item and rates a slight edge on top. Making his first start since being gelded, the son of Cairo Prince has run well over this course in the past and off a layoff as well, so with a work tab that should have him fit enough the Michael McCarthy-trained veteran will be quite dangerous even at this one mile distance that might be a bit sharp for his liking. Based on speed figures and with good previous from over the local lawn, he’s good enough to win at this level, and from his inside two hole draw he should enjoy a ground-saving, second flight trip. Nineeleventurbo earned a career top number when winning a similar starter allowance event over this course and distance two weeks ago and rates a look right back despite the quick turnaround. He should be forwardly placed throughout and have dead aim from the top of the lane to the wire. Durante has been freshened since December and his work tab at Los Alamitos is light, so it’s possible he’ll need a race before being dead fit. He’s most effective as the controlling speed, and in a race that projects to have soft early splits the son of Distorted Humor may be able to secure his preferred trip. We’ll toss him in, though we’d probably need a bit more than his morning line of 4-1 to feel like we’re getting any value.

Al Cimaglia: Meadowlands Early Pick 4 Analysis

      May 20, 2023 | By Al Cimaglia
The Meadowlands has a 14-race card in place with the headliner coming in Race 9, the Arthur J. Cutler Memorial Free For All Trot with a $155,200 purse. The 0.50 Early Pick 4 starts in Race 6. The sequence has a $50,000 guaranteed pool with a 15% takeout, and it will be my focus.

Comments and selections below are based on a fast track.

      Race 6

2-Southwind Gendry (5/2)-Comes off a sharp win from post 7. Steps up and faces a solid field but should be racing near the top of the stack with this post draw. Has won 28% of Big M starts and David Miller should have in play from start to finish.
4-Billy Clyde (8-1)-Makes the 1st start of the year and this is the debut performance with the Schnittker barn. Will look for a price and hope the 5-year-old fires hot off the bench. If so, could top the one above and offer a very nice price. Has an impressive record at M1 hitting the board in 13 of 16 and has posted 7 wins.

      Race 7

4-Dire Straights (6-1)-Comes off a necessary start and should be tighter after being used hard to get an early lead. Finished a beaten 3rd but the two that finished ahead are not in this field. Could be ready for a complete effort and might be overlooked at the windows.
6-Oh Well (9/5)-Comes off a good try to finish to 2nd to #8 in last and did rally with a 54.4 back half. Gets a post edge over some main players and will probably be driven aggressively off the gate. Should be dialed on high this week.

      Race 8

2-Nuttin But Finesse (12-1)-Rallied nicely down the lane last week but was not used off the gate from post 7. Does good work when raced near the top of the stack. This will be 3rd start at M1 and will look for a more aggressive steer. Stratton can keep the longshot close and be in the mix at the wire.
3-Stonebridge Reef (9/2)-Has only 1 win in the last 6 Big M starts but has been right there at the wire in every race. Was just nipped near the line by the one below in last. Todd McCarthy takes over for Gingras, starts inside, can offer a solid price and like the one above should be racing with the leaders.
4-Jilliby Dynamite A (5/2)-Was aided by some fast fractions but not knocking the last win because the rally down the lane was impressive. Not sure this race will set up the same way and could be bet down off the morning line.

      Race 9

1-Venerate (9/2)-This 5-year-old was sold for $410,00 in October after only banking $85,926 last year. Comes off a pair of qualifiers and the last one was a strong effort. The price is right to use, and it wouldn't be a shock if Melander finds the key to the trotter and this season turns out to be much better than 2022.
4-Bella Bellini (5/2)-Was handled conservatively in the lone start this year and should be closer to the top in the early going tonight. An aggressive steer could be coming with a good purse on the line. Best to respect, but hoping the champion mare won't be bet down to a tiny price.

      0.50 Early Pick 4

      2,4/4,6/2,3,4/1,4
      Total Bet=$12

Race of the Week: $1.5M Saudi Derby | Saturday, Feb. 25

        February 22, 2023 | By Jeremy Plonk
        The Lead:
The world's eyes will be on the $20 million Saudi Cup on Saturday from the Middle East, but the undercard provides several competitive wagering opportunities as well. One of those stands out in Race 6, the $1.5 million Saudi Derby, where the international pool figures to be heavy on the Japanese and American contingents.

Through the first 7 weeks of 2023, our Xpressbet Race of the Week betting strategies have netted $2,768 in returns for $700 invested -- including 4 winners returning $1242, $430, $520 and another $576 a week ago. Plying our trade in international races like this isn't the norm, but we'll see if a hot hand extends to the desert.

        Field Depth:
Graded stakes winners HAVNAMELTDOWN from California and CONTINUAR from Japan will garner the headlines and support on the international parimutuel tote. These kind of races always are difficult to judge on class, though ES UNICO's last company line in Dubai stacks up nicely as well.

        Pace:
FROM DUSK and HAVNAMELTDOWN ought to insure a blistering pace over a mile. Several others of these sprint-bred types could push the issue and a finisher has a major chance in this set-up.

        Our Eyes:
        Here are my horse-by-horse notes.

1-Es Unico: Clear runner-up in the UAE 2000 Guineas trial over 7 furlongs on dirt at Meydan, this southern hemisphere 4-year-old transferred his form nicely from Uruguay. Finished up with sharp interest behind highly regarded Tiger Nation in Dubai, a race capable of winning this. Es Unico is by sire War Secretary, who owns a purely American pedigree by War Front out of outstanding turf/synthetic mare Upperline.

2-Loreley: No match for Es Unico in Meydan’s UAE 2000 Guineas trial a month ago, but post-race scope detected mucus that may have impacted performance. Clasico Argentina winner prior in front-running fashion may be part of the pace. Southern Hemisphere 4-year-old is by fleet US sire Kentuckian and out of a mare by Kentucky Derby winner Fusaichi Pegasus.

3-Almulhem: Late May 20 foal gives away development to Northern Hemisphere types and obviously those from Southern Hemisphere. Runaway maiden mile winner over this track on December 24, besting 18 runners by 3+ lengths. Has a sprint/mile US pedigree, pure Todd Pletcher, by More Than Ready and out of the mare Morrow Cove (by sprinter Yes It’s True).

4-Almurtajiz: No match runner-up to Saudi Derby rival Commissioner King in the Ministry of National Guard Cup over this track Dec. 16 going the same mile trip. Showed promise in November romp over 7 furlongs locally. Win-early pedigree by Good Magic out of American mare Vieja Luna; should handle distance.

5-Atta Alghali: Son of Breeders’ Cup Mile winner Karakontie would appear turf-bred on top, but dam was solid dirt performer in Chicago. Third-place finisher over this track Jan. 27 in the Saudi Derby qualifier. He had to almost stop cold on the far turn and re-rallied nicely before losing steam late. Could be a late factor with a cleaner trip.

6-Baalb: Deeper foundation than most of the local Saudi sophomores, running 6 times back to early September and winning 2 of 3 over the track in Riyadh. Maternal grandson of star US sprinter Classy Mirage is by Irish sprint/mile sharpie Beldardo. Comes off a disappointing race, but intrigues some.

7-Commissioner King: Kentucky-bred son of Pimlico Special winner and Belmont Stakes runner-up Commissioner, he exits a 4-length win Dec. 16 in the local Ministry of National Guard Cup. Dam was a solid stakes sprinter in Maryland. Winner of 2 of 3 lifetime ranks among the top local hopes.

8-Continuar: Cattleya Stakes winner in Japan’s Road to the Kentucky Derby qualifiers in November, he’s a son of top US sprinter Drefong. Note last year’s Saudi Derby runner-up also was a son of Drefong via Japan. Connections seek path from Saudi Arabia to Dubai to Louisville if all goes to plan. Twice has run 1-1/8 miles, so distance will not be an issue at a mile for this colt from the female family of legendary Japanese mare Almond Eye. Was a bit one-paced last out in the Cattleya victory.

9-Derma Sotogake: Hard-fought dirt winner in Japan’s Zen Nippon Nisai Yushun last time out, he’ll be one of that nation’s multiple major reps in the Saudi Derby. Japan has won this race 2 of its 3 years in existence and finished 2-3 in last year’s event. Derma Sotogake defeated Saudi Derby rival Continuar in a matchup last year, and this is a son of Mind Your Biscuits, the US-based sprinter who had much success in Dubai. He carries the Sunday Silence bloodlines on the damside for class and stamina.

10-Ecoro Ares: Outsider among the Japanese contingent, ninth beaten 14 lengths most recently in a turf sprint. Son of US sprinter Unified, who did stretch out to win the 9F Peter Pan around 1 turn. Dam won 3 routes in US on dirt and turf.

11-From Dusk: $900,000 Ocala 2-Year-Old purchase by hot young sire Bolt d’Oro (and out of a half-sister to $1.6M turfer Get Stormy) has been wildly inconsistent in Japan to date. He’s performed better shorter in distance and has exceptional early foot – owing to his 9-4/5 drill at OBS. From Dusk should be part of the pace.

12-Havnameltdown: Trainer Bob Baffert won this race last year wire-to-wire with Pinehurst, who ran in many of the same races as this colt – specifically, the Del Mar Futurity at 2 and San Vicente at 3. His only career loss in 5 starts came when barnmate Cave Rock wired the Del Mar Futurity. Havnameltdown was gifted the lead in the San Vicente and cruised up top; that scenario will be more difficult to attain in the Saudi Derby. Not only did his American barnmate win this race last year, but also note Cowan represented the US well in 2021 when runner-up.

13-My Map: Saudi Arabia’s leading contender is perfect in 4 starts and notched the local prep victory in the Saudi Derby qualifier. By Breeders’ Cup Dirt Mile winner Liam’s Map, he sat patiently inside last out, split horses professionally and had a nice turn of foot to open up before idling a bit to the wire. With a hot pace expected, he’s a danger late as the locals look for their first win in this race.

        Most Certain Exotics Contender:
ES UNICO really caught my eye in Dubai and the race shape looks favorable for his style. The Southern Hemisphere 4YOs always perk my attention in these spring international races with their developmental edge.

        Best Longshot Exotics Contender:
ATTA ALGHALI can improve off a troubled trip and gets a good set-up.

        Sending it in ($100 bankroll):
$70 win ES UNICO. $5 exacta key-box ES UNICO with MY MAP, HAVNAMELTDOWN, ATTA ALGHALI ($30).

          Brian W. Spencer's Daily Picks

          Santa Anita - Race #6
#7 Luminiferous She has really turned the corner since adding Lasix, and she has shown some versatility in her running style that might land her a good spot spying the speed today.
#3 Ruby Nell She ran well when troubled on the turf in her career debut and has followed it up with a couple decent runs on the main, and I think it's one of these top two to land it today.
#1 Free and Humble Don't think she's out of the question with some decent turf form to her credit, and there might be some upside in the second start off the bench. Maybe on wider tickets.
Race Summary Luminiferous and Ruby Nell have the credentials to be tough in here, but I'm hoping the former will offer a slightly better price on the board.
          Santa Anita - Race #8
#6 Lady Jae I'm not sure ifher best is quite good enough to land this, but the price is going to be right as she rises off a tough trip. She looked like she had a little run coming down the hill before getting taken out by the pacesetter, ending all chance for her as they crossed the dirt. Three or four potential pace players make her interesting.
#4 Very Scary She has some cutback appeal with route pace, and she might get towed into the splits and get first jump on the finishers. Interesting.
#8 Big Summer She's a super honest finisher who might also appreciate the setup today, and she has proven competitive on class with some of these in her recent starts. Not out of it.
Race Summary Lady Jae looked like she wasn't finished when she started to move into the pace last out, but the early speed veered out and ruined the rest of her race. Willing to take a shot.
          Santa Anita - Race #10
#5 Durante He's a really good fit at this kind of level and has the speed to get in the mix early on here in a race without a ton of other early burn signed on, but he also owns a mild pressing gear if needed.
#7 Nineeleventurbo The appealing price from the win last out is going away this time around, but his turf route baseline is in line with what it might take to land this. Wouldn't surprise right back.
#2 Seven Charms Not totally sure what to do with him off the bench, but he's back as a gelding with some previous form that would make him an obvious threat in here. Capable with this kind.
Race Summary Durante gets the nod in a competitive finale, and I would consider adding #1 Crew Dragon on tickets at a huge price in hopes he can land a piece.

            Frank Carulli's Daily Picks

            Pimlico - Race #3
#1 COMPOSER’S DREAM (6-1 Barn had productive Friday with similar-priced horses.
#5 TOOFAREASTISWEST (5-1) Took money, closed full of run for second after ‘tight’ start.
#9 HEADLINE NEWS (8-1) Firing bullets for 20-percent turf barn, gets Lasix for his debut.
Race Summary Trainer Michael Maker had a win, a second and three thirds from six starters on yesterday’s Pimlico card, three at 7-1 or higher. He could pick up where he left off with COMPOSER’S DREAM, who improved with blinkers and ‘stayed on well’ despite a wide trip at one mile last out. Bet to win and place.
            Pimlico - Race #5
#5 DOWNTOWN KATIE (4-1) Held rock solid form off layoff, will be running late into contention again.
#6 TEQUILERA (7-2) Another Maker-trained contender had good tune-up, holds decided tactical edge.
#10 JUST NORTH (15-1) Awakened with Lasix and blinkers in seasonal debut for Team Russell.
Race Summary DOWNTOWN KATIE rallied from downtown for an 8/2-4-2 record at short odds since she was claimed. She won her seasonal debut at her best distance and could get a faster pace to run at. Bet to win and place and play a 5-6-10 exacta box.
            Pimlico - Race #10
#10 COPPOLA (6-1) Can’t seem to avoid trouble lines, but can’t fault his grass sprint form this year.
#3 ARTEMUS CITYLIMITS (5-2) Multiple G-II placed turf sprinter doesn’t shy from photo-finish camera.
#5 SMOKIN JAY (6-1) Last year’s runner-up returns with a winning 5F prep under his belt.
Race Summary COPPOLA seized the moment after the favorite got roughed up at the start, but he too overcame some bumping and steadied slightly off heels into the turn before he recovered to win going away in allowance company on the Churchill Downs lawn. He draws post 10 but has enough speed to get forward position and make a run at his first stakes victory. Bet to win and place.

COMMENTS: ARABIAN LION will be the heavy favorite with early speed and gets first Lasix as a boost. DENINGTON is a closer who has shown the ability to run towards the front with some success. He probably moves closer to the lead today. TAPITS CONQUEST can handle the distance with a win and second in two tries. MASTERWORK has been getting better from race to race to race. Similar improvement here and he could pop at a price.

COMMENTS: SUPER CHOW is undefeated in five at the distance and they usually are not close. HAVNAMELTDOWN might have been a Kentucky Derby qualifier if he was not in Bob Bafferts barn. PRINCE OF JERICHO is the lone closer and the rest want to giddy up and go. There should be plenty of tired legs to pass. RYVIT has shown he can win on the front or pressing the leader or closing. The versatility could come in handy here.

COMMENTS: VERGARA won her lone race at the distance and has a third in her lone trip at Pimlico. WHITEBEAM showed a powerful late burst in her US debut with the highest last race speed figure. PRINCESS THEOREM is just two lengths from winning three in row. SOPRAN BASILEA is a mystery horse coming in from Italy. She hit the board in 10 of 13 on Italian grass.

COMMENTS: ATONE missed as the beaten favorite in his last race. Trainer Michael Maker rebounds at 23 percent the next time out. NEVER EXPLAIN had two of his best workouts in a while training for today. EMMANUEL has a shot to go wire to wire if he can break aggressively and get to the front without a lot of pressure. HURRICANE DREAM ran very competitively in French Group races and has some of the best turf breeding in this group.

COMMENTS: PRINCESS KOKACHIN tend to make a powerful mid race move which works well in sprints. EDIE MEENY MINY MO won half of her eight races at the distance and is hard to pass with the lead late. BEGUINE makes her 2023 debut and has a good workout pattern getting prepped. IM THE BOSS OF ME ran noticeably better late in winning her last and is usually close to the front all the way around the track.

COMMENTS: NOTHING BETTER has been a winning machine of late and his last two workouts say he will churn out another shot at the winners circle. THATS RIGHT cuts back in distance which should be helpful in his first race since late October. COPPOLA ran the highest last race speed figure despite checking to avoid a spill. ARTEMUS CITYLIMITS will try and increase his output in the second start after a layoff.

COMMENTS: WONDRWHERECRAIGIS ran faster fractions in his last race and could be quicker in the second start after a layoff. STRAIGHT NO CHASER won his last race and trainer Dan Blacker follows a win with another at 26 percent. NAKATOMI consistently puts forth a strong push in the stretch which could be the answer in a race with lots of speed. THREES OVER DEUCES is a consistent high end performer with nine high quality races in a row.

COMMENTS: FUNTASTIC AGAIN has plenty of early speed and gets first time Lasix which can be a good combo. NAGIRROC could see some improvement with first time blinkers to help keep his mind on business. CIRCLING THE DRAIN had some excuses in his last which was his lone miss in five races. His workouts say he should get back to business. WONDERFUL JUSTICE had all sorts of issues in his last race. His workouts say all he needs is a clean trip.

COMMENTS: FIRST MISSION should be fresh and was improved his in race numbers in second half of the Lexington Stakes. MAGE might have to go back to his wire to wire debut win to win the first two legs of the Triple Crown. NATIONAL TREASURE ships in from Southern California for trainer Bob Baffert who usually places his horses in places where they have a good chance to win. COFFEEWITHCHRIS should make a strong mid move and could be a live longshot.

(7) Quick Power Nap was moved off the turf in her last two starts including her first start of this year. Last time on the grass at Saratoga she was a winner and was claimed for $40,000. (11) I’m Nervous Now returns to New York after three top three finishes on the Tampa Bay Downs turf.
7th race [NY, Md Sp Wt, 7F] – (6) Seize the City (A) got off to a slow start in his debut, took a lot of kickback, and then rallied to finish fifth. (7) Refuah crossed the finish line first after 16 career starts but was then disqualified and placed second after interference in the stretch. (2) What a Mesa will make his career debut who is out of a mare that won $94,000 on the track and has produced four winners from four to start including a NY-bred stakes winner of $554,000.
