Hawthorne - Race #4

#6 Follow the Signs	Riser has typically been in a little tough with this kind, but he has a little bit of upside with the change of scenery and new barn, and he knows how to win, which might serve him well in a race with a lot of horses who like to settle underneath.
#1 Simpson Bay	Absolutely nothing wrong with the comeback win off the bench, and he showed a new dimension when rallying from off the splits that day. Dangerous right back today with a more tactical trip.
#4 Sonnyisnotsofunny	He's pretty honest and has been knocking on the door in recent starts, but I wouldn't want to be here at too short a price based on his willingness to settle underneath.
Race Summary	Follow the Signs gets another crack at this type while running out of the Reavis barn, and he might work out a decent trip from the outside. Could be swayed to Simpson Bay if the price stays playable.

Hawthorne - Race #7

#5 Electric Charge	He might offer a price that's just appealing enough while dropping back in with claimers, as he caught a really tough winner two starts back and is worth a look on the lawn at this level.
#6 Larry the Poet	Nothing cooking here through two starts, but he has a right to carry that pace a bit further today while trying this softer bunch. Wouldn't surprise, but I wouldn't want any kind of short price until he shows some life.
#3 Mo Time at All	The overall form has been inconsistent, but he stuck around a lot better when facing similar last time out, and something similar would keep him in the mix again here.
Race Summary	Electric Charge has some appeal at what might be a mid-range price while getting some class relief, and I wouldn't put it past him to land this while trying cheaper on the turf for the first time.

Hawthorne - Race #8

#8 C F V Red Nova	Tactical player cuts back while getting some class relief for this one, and he's not far removed from some efforts that might make him tough with this kind today.
#4 Triple Chrome	He was along from way downtown last time out to score, and this seems like a reasonable enough spot for him right back. Think he can sit a bit closer today with a cleaner getaway.
#1 Wildwood Secret	He owns a handful of running lines that would be pretty tough at this kind of level, but I worry about the trip he's going to get from the inside while likely trying to flash a little pace. Maybe if everything goes his way...
Race Summary	C F V Red Nova is capable of something better than the fading effort going long with better last out, and I think he's got a chance to show up late and land this one while turning back to a trip at which he has had some recent success.

Race Summary	MAYSTART’S lone win on the turf was more than two years ago, but she showed enough on the main track lately against the likes of $105k earner Protomagic, odds-on favorite Rattrapante and Trip To Freedom (3-17, $78k) to earn a second look in this field. She could sit a perfect stalking trip and upgrade her recent in-the-money finishes. Bet to win and place.

Hawthorne - Race #5

#6 LAWMAKER (2-1)	Stayed after and caught pace setter near wire, versatility comes in handy.
#2 UNDISMAYED (3-1)	Dueled on inside, gave way to closers, returns to claim level.
#1 STORM’S REFLECTION (5	Rallied inside at one mile, couldn’t reach pace controller.
Race Summary	LAWMAKER was ‘restless’ in the gate but broke second, chased the 7-2 leader to the stretch and got up in the final strides to break his maiden going a route of ground. He gets plenty of pace to rally into on the cutback to 7-1/2F and is taken to repeat as today’s Best Bet.

#4 GETTIN DOWN (5-2)	Got down to the proper claiming level and romped, hit the repeat button.
#1 SEQUAYA (4-1)	Just missed in latest, projects ideal trip, but hard to overlook 1-37 record.
#2 OPALINE (7-2)	Rushed up early, chased 1-to-5 favorite around turn and tired in longer sprint.
Race Summary	GETTIN DOWN stumbled at the break but recovered for a popular runaway victory on the class drop to this level. No reason to think she won’t repeat for a high-percentage barn. Bet to win and place and play 4-1 and 4-2 exactas.

I think JESSICA BLAH BLAH is a strong choice. The handler wheels this one back quickly to race again. Montanez has an excellent ROI over the past month (+57) which should help players with this choice. Should go to the lead and could never look back. HAZARD - The Equibase Speed Fig of 55 from her last race looks competitive in here. DOMINANT STRANGER - Has strong Speed Figures and has to be considered for a bet for this race. Have to examine solely on class, with some of the top class figures of this group.

Don't overlook this gelding in your wagers - very dangerous with Flores aboard. PENTANGELI - He has been racing soundly recently while recording very strong Equibase Speed Figures. Change in Lasix (on Lasix) may be the difference to a return. CENTRAL STATION - Is a solid choice - given the 61 speed fig from his most recent race. Must be given a shot given the class of races run as of late.

ARDANWOOD - All systems look good for this gelding. Last workout, 2nd fastest of the day, shows he's fit and ready. The rider/conditioner duo of Gomez and Robertson has a strong ROI together. PHILEAS FOGG - Trainer Stidham gave this colt a good stiff work. Last one was 2nd fastest of the day. Nice return on investment for this rider and trainer twosome. I have to figure Stidham is making a good move here. This colt can only benefit from the shorter distance. When a thoroughbred drops at least five pounds (like this one is), you must take notice. It may not seem like much, but its possible this could make the difference.

CONSPIRACY FACT - May 31st is the last time we've seen this gelding around. Have to be a little bit leery. CANDY FOR CARMEL - 5/2 odds isn't enough for this participant when scrutinizing the most recent outings. KHOZY MY BOY - I can't play this perpetual non-winner. Gets the assignment executed now and then. Don't feel this vulnerable equine will make an impact in today's race. That last rating was run-of-the-mill when compared with today's class rating.
