I'll take my chances with the OVER 11.5 in Sunday's series finale between the White Sox and Rockies. This will also be the last game for Colorado on a 6-game homestand that has seen nothing but offensive fireworks so far. All 5 games on the homestand have seen at least 10 combined runs, with each of the last 3 seeing 13 or more. In the two games vs Chicago the combined scores have been 15 and 16. I don't know how you expect anything but more of the same in this one. Chicago's got a big name on the mound in Dylan Cease, but he's been overrated all year. He's got a 4.32 ERA and 1.388 WHIP in 25 starts. He's got a 4.98 ERA in 12 road starts and will be making his first ever start at Coors Field against a Rockies team that scoring 6.7 runs/game over their last 7 contests. White Sox should be able to go score for score with the Rockies sending out Chris Flexen, who is 1-5 with a 9.00 ERA and 1.918 WHIP in 8 starts. Give me the OVER 11.5!

I can understand this large total. There have been 31 runs scored during the first two games of this three-game series at Coors Field.

Neither starting pitcher, Dylan Cease nor Chris Flexen, is having a good season.

But there are enough factors for me to go Under what I believe is too large of a total.

I'm expecting some of each team's regulars to be rested given this is a Sunday game. Also, Clint Vondrak is slated to be the home plate umpire. The Under has cashed nearly 60 percent of the time he's been behind the plate during the past two seasons.

Cease has been disappointing this year, but he still is a top-20 strikeout pitcher. He's fanned 157 in 133 1/3 innings.

Flexen has a 7.74 ERA that is due to start coming down. Flexen entered this year 22-15 during the previous two seasons with ERA's of 3.61 and 3.73, respectively. Those were with the Mariners. Pitching at Coors Field is far worse. But Flexen's a veteran and has been with the Rockies long enough to make adjustments. He's a better pitcher than he's shown.
