Thursday 8/24/23 Free Plays / Trends / Betting Info / Etc
My “Cutting Room Floor” plays are the situations I considered the closest to being worthy of investment but did not make the “final cut” for my official plays today for subscribers. The last play I cut for Thursday afternoon is with the Tampa Bay Rays with the money-line versus the Colorado Rockies listing both starting pitchers Shawn Armstrong and Peter Lambert. Tampa Bay (77-51) has won five of their last six games after their 6-5 victory in extra innings at home against the Rockies. The Rays have won 42 of their last 64 games at home. They have also won 12 of their last 19 games in August. Colorado (48-78) has lost three games in a row — and they have lost 14 of their last 20 games this month. The Rockies have also lost 45 of their last 65 games on the road. Take Tampa Bay with the money-line listing both starting pitchers. Best of luck — Frank.
Thursday MLB Free play. My selection is on Arizona over Cincinnati at 9:40 pm et on Thursday.
The Reds delivered a double-header sweep of the Angels yesterday, wrapping up a three-game series sweep in the process. I look for the Diamondbacks to end Cincinnati's winning run on Thursday, however. Rookie Brandon Williamson will take the ball for the Reds. He labored through 5 2/3 innings against the Blue Jays last time out, allowing four earned runs on nine hits along the way. While he has impressed at times this season, he still owns a 4.79 ERA and 1.40 WHIP on the road this season. Merrill Kelly has pitched reasonably well since returning from a blood clot in his calf back in late July. In 16 nighttime starts this season, Kelly owns a 2.70 ERA and 1.11 WHIP. Behind him is a rested D'Backs bullpen following an off day on Wednesday. They've converted four saves while blowing just one over the last seven games. Take Arizona.
