It’s tough to get a good reading on teams in week one, but UNC has an advantage tonight. UNC Head Coch Mac Brown is a difference maker and changed the program with his presence. Shane Beamer has created a winning program at South Carolina but will miss ex-offensive coordinator Marcus Satterfield. The primary key tonight is the running games. The Gamecocks will no longer have the services of Marshawn Lloyd, who transferred to USC. Spencer Rattler is a good QB but needs to be mobile. The Gamecocks will need help with short-yardage plays. North Carolina returns their running game as Elijah Green is back this year. QB Drake May is a genuine duel threat and should give the Gamecock defense nightmares. The offense line returns 4 out of 5 starters from 2022. UNC should be able to move the ball better early in the season with the running game and bail out plays to their veteran tight ends. Both teams have a lot of talent, but the Tar Heels are better on both sides of the football. Take UNC.
