Wednesday MLB Free play. My selection is on the 'over' between Cincinnati and San Francisco at 3:45 pm et on Wednesday.

The Reds bats have gone silent in the first two games of this series, overmatched by Giants pitchers. With Logan Webb starting for San Francisco on Wednesday most are anticipating a similarly low-scoring result here. I'm not so easily convinced. The Reds know they'll likely need to put plenty of runs on the board to support starter Hunter Greene, who has struggled mightily in two outings since returning from injury. Greene has been lit up for 13 earned runs in just 6 2/3 innings over his last two starts. For his part, Logan Webb hasn't been lights out lately either, allowing nine earned runs in 11 1/3 innings over his last two outings. Of course, those two starts did come against the Atlanta Braves. Still, it's worth noting that the Reds have enjoyed plenty of success at the plate on the road this season, averaging 4.9 runs per game. Also note that the Giants bullpen has been average at best lately, sporting a collective 4.45 ERA and 1.27 WHIP over the last seven games. Cincinnati's 'pen owns a 4.28 ERA and 1.46 WHIP over the same stretch. Take the over.

This is a play on the BOSTON RED SOX for our Wednesday Free Play. Houston is coming off a 6-2 win last night for its fourth straight win following a 2-6 stretch. The struggles from Texas has gotten the Astros back in the mix in the American League West as they are part of a three-way tie with the Rangers and Mariners. Boston has dropped three consecutive games and has gone just 3-6 over its last nine games to fall 6.5 games out of the final Wild Card spot in the American League. The Red Sox have lost four of five at home but are still four games over .500. Framber Valdez tossed a no hitter five starts back but followed that up with three straight poor outings but in his last start, he was on his way to another no hitter before being pulled after 114 pitches and the Astros ended up losing. Over his last 10 starts, he has a 5.17 ERA despite 16 innings of no-hit ball. Kutter Crawford has been one of the most consistent starts in the rotation as he has allowed six runs or less in six straight starts and after coming back to the rotation in June, he has a 3.71 ERA over 15 starts. Here, we play against road teams hitting .333 or better over their last five games going up against an opponent with a starting pitcher whose WHIP is 0.80 or better over his last three starts. This situation is 43-13 (76.8 percent) since 1997. Play (916) Boston Red Sox
