My 25* College Basketball Game of the Year is the Texas A&M Aggies plus the points over the Missouri Tigers. On Wednesday I was hoping for two things to happen to setup this game the way I wanted. Missouri took care of business in their last home game of the season over top 5 ranked Oklahoma. They did so rather easily leading by double digits most of the way and ended up winning the game by 9. Meanwhile, the Aggies needed a strong 2nd half rally to get pass a look ahead game as they squeaked out a win in Colorado. Now we have Missouri off an emotional win and arguably their biggest win of the season as they knocked off highly ranked Oklahoma and finished the year undefeated at home and they have to travel to an Aggies squad who has really been playing solid ball as of late. The Aggies are a very solid 15-2 SU at home this season and enter this game having won 5 straight games and having covered 5 of their last 6 against the spread. The difference makers for this team are the guys in the paint as they have outrebounded 9 of their last 10 opponents. It first starts with the talented junior center Elonu who is averaging 10.2ppg and 7.7rpg. Additionally in the front court is Bryan Davis who has really matured as a player this season and is averaging 10.3ppg and 6.3rpg. Today is senior day and that will certainly be important for the leading scorer of this team, Josh Carter. Carter really has been the key for them lately as after an up and down year he has really turned it up lately and put together some of his best basketball of his career over the last several weeks. He is averaging 17.8ppg in his last 5 games and shooting 58.3% from 3 point range (21-35). On the other side the Tigers will being playing only their 9th road game of the season; as they have spent most of the year at home. On the road this is a team that has struggled; they lost at Kansas by 25, at Kansas State by 16 and at Nebraska by 5 failing to cover in each contest. Missouri is not a great perimeter team on the offense end and that has really hurt them in big games on the road. By struggling around the perimeter opposing teams have been able to sag into the paint and take care of the big men. In a matchup like this the Aggies have the big men to matchup down low as well as the defense around the perimeter to control Missouri. I expect Texas A&M shows up big here as Missouri comes in prime for a letdown off an emotional big win this past week. The Aggies will have another electric home crowd behind them for their last home game of the season and a game that should put them into the NCAA tournament. I currently have this line at +2. My 25* College Basketball Game of the Year is the Texas A&M Aggies plus the points. As always, Good Luck, Let’s make some money.

GAME: Syracuse @ Marquette Mar 7, 2009 2:00PM
SPORT: College Basketball Picks
PICK: under
Offered at: 157.5
REASON FOR PICK: 4* #538 MARQUETTE/SYRACUSE Under
2:00 Eastern
We have gone to the well with Marquette Under in the post-Dominic James era with mixed results; an easy win at Louisville on Sunday, but a high * loss at Pittsburgh Wednesday night. We turn the cycle into a profit in this one, with the Wednesday defeat helping to bring particularly good value to the table.
While admittedly being on the road against two outstanding defenses is tough for any team, the offensive issues for the Golden Eagles without James were easy to see – they only shot 38.5 percent in those games, with 19 assists over 80 minutes. The downfall for our purposes at Pittsburgh was the size disadvantage around the basket, which the Marquette defense could not make up for, allowing a stunning 27-37 on Panther shots inside the arc. Now the former issues remain in play, and if anything become even stronger, while the latter disappears.
In Wesley Matthews and Jerel McNeal the Golden Eagles still have two capable play-makers, but each is at his best when slashing to the basket, or beating his man off of the dribble. Those chances are limited by the 2-3 zone that Jim Boeheim will throw at them, and the opportunities that they do get may also not be dealt with all that efficiently – each of them played the full 40 minutes at both Louisville and Pittsburgh, which will have their tanks running low. But this time around the interior defense will not be exploited like it was on Wednesday, with Syracuse not having the low post scorers to take advantage. That makes this line far higher than it should be.
Let's face facts, the Golden Eagles are struggling right now, as they lose one of their top players in Dominic James for the season, and now they find themselves back home for their finale off losses to UConn, Louisville, and Pitt!!!
Just a brutal stretch, and the last pair of losses were on the road. Being at home hasn't helped much pointspread-wise, as Marquette is just 5-6-1 against the spread in their lined home games this year.
Syracuse could sure use a "quality" road outing, as the Orangemen have all too often packed the tent on the road too many times this year. The 'Cuse has won and covered 3 straight coming into this game, and they have won both previous series meetings against Marquette both straight up, and against the spread.
With Marquette off 3 very tough conference games, I expect them to be a little gassed in this one, and I expect the Orange to stay inside of the number.
20 DIMER - TEXAS A&M AGGIES - 2PM
Curious game here, as Missouri is playing this game to improve their stock come Sunday when they announce the Big Dance pairings, while the Aggies at 22-8 could sure use this win to imrprove their at-large resume.
To get the Aggs at the Reed Center at this price is a coup!
A&M has won their last 4, and better still is the fact the Aggies have won 4 in a row against the Tigers, and they have covered 7 in a row against Mizzou.
Missouri has done well for themselves on the road for the most part this year, but that 90-65 clunker they threw in the mix their last time on the highway has the G-Man worried they will pack it in today at College Station.
