UNCLE LEON - I'll bet that this gelding even surprised his connections when he made his first start on Sep 3rd and finished second. Martinez should be able to place this gelding right behind the pace. Ideally, Martinez will rate behind the leaders, then surge on the turn. The jock and handler combination have a positive return on investment when they combine forces. REGAL REDWOOD - Jockey jumped on this colt's back for the first time on September 3rd. Should be in tune with the horse even better in today's race. Quite frequently, I play a maiden that finished runner-up easily ahead of the 3rd-place finisher in his last race. Recent Equibase speed figs show powerful pattern of improvement.

BUNNY ON WATER - Should be given a shot based on the very strong speed rating posted in the last contest. Has decent Equibase Class Figures relative to this field - worth a look. KOOL STORM - The Lasix change (with second time Lasix) may spark a return for this filly. Will most likely be one of the early speedsters of the pack going into the midpoint of the race.

RED DOG - Orseno has an 'uncoupled' entry here. Best to beware of the longer priced half. Trainer, Orseno, has been deliberate with this gelding off the layoff. Look for a solid effort today. The last rating of 85 is the best last race speed figure in the group. AL ATLASI - I like this colt. Has the uppermost earnings per start (EPS) in here.

ZOZAN - This colt almost certainly won't be really close at the wire. You always believe this horse has a shot to be victorious, but he fails frequently. Will be tough for this racer to beat this bunch off of that last speed figure. FLYING SCOTSMAN - Last raced at Colonial Downs carrying 35 lbs more. The lower weight in this event should serve him well. MEGACITY - In my opinion, you need 'class' to be successful on the grass. This one has the highest average class figure in the field. Horses out of the barn of Rodriguez have been strong on the turf. Should perform well right here. I like the piece of information that this gelding's last speed rating, 99, is tops in this field. UNCLE CURLY - Lopez and Walder perform well when they team up. It's hard to beat a +370 return on investment for a rider and trainer. Lopez is right back for another event today after getting on board this animal for the initial time on August 18th and ought to know the ropes to this one a little better. CANNON'S ROAR - Had a dominant closing move last time out, running the last quarter in less than 25 seconds. A similar performance today, and it's straight to the winner's circle.

AMERICAN UNITY - Finished first in his most recent race with a disappointing speed figure. When I look at today's Equibase class figure, it would take an improved performance to win after that in this field. ORIGINAL - Finished sixth last time. Would have to move up to finish in the money in today's event. Don't believe this racer will do much running in today's race. That last fig was substandard when compared with today's Equibase class figure. GRADED ON A CURVE - The Equibase speed figures continue to decline, 93/86/74. Not a good sign. The move down the stretch drive on August 19th indicated to me that this equine will have a tough go of it versus this field of stiffer competition. Finished first in his most recent race with a substandard speed fig. When I look at today's Equibase class figure, it would take an improved performance to win after that in this field.
