The Illini haven't fared well at the betting window. This is a low number though; they're not being asked to cover much. Indeed, that low number is providing us with excellent value. Keep in mind that Illinois is 7-2-1 ATS the past 10 times that it was off a Big Ten loss.
Nebraska got hammered last week. Coach Rhule acknowledged his team was a long way off: “We're going to recruit … we're going to develop. We're going to keep coaching these guys. We're going to coach these guys this week. They were in the same spot last year. They were 2-3 last year, right? They battled, they won some games. We're going to have a chance to win games. The biggest difference is I'm not going to get up here and make excuses. I'm not going to get up here and blame the players. We're going to recruit, coach, develop. We're going to learn from this game. This game sucked. Pardon my language. This game stunk.” Recall that Rhule wasn't at all successful in his first year at Temple or Baylor. His success came after he'd had a "chance to recruit, coach and develop." The Illini have owned the Huskers in recent seasons, including a 26-9 victory at Lincoln last year. Illinois dominated time of possession and limited Nebraska to nine first downs. I expect a similar formula for the Illini in this one. The Huskers may be more competitive under Rhule but the end result will be the same. *good at -4 or better. Any Kelso?
