    # 1 HF THEGREATPUMPKIN 1/1

    # 6 FLYING OFFICER 6/1
The contender for this one is HF THEGREATPUMPKIN. This gelding getting the top prize wouldn't be impossible, a chance. Has the makings of a profitable play, averaging a nifty 59 speed fig. This standardbred will be greatly helped with Kelly driving. 22 percent winners over the last 30 days. DUBAI SEELSTER - Worth a close look here on the basis of the markings in the speed rating department alone. If performance in the last race is any indicator, this contender will have a very very good shot in this contest. High last race TrackMaster speed fig. FLYING OFFICER - When the starter calls, entrants starting out of the 6 slot have more wins than the expected average. Would appear to have a probability at being helped back on Lasix here.

BLUEBIRD CRUSH is tough to overlook as our best wagering option in this outing. This solid standardbred may have some hidden form, a win would be a pleasant surprise. Many horse players know speed is is such an important factor. This entrant has credentials with a 64 avg rating. Good for a win wager just off the stellar prior class rankings. Have to like this horse. BRAZEN RAISIN - Sometimes you just have to go with an instinct, back this one's chances. DREAM PILLAR - The consortium noted a clear-cut race out of this standardbred last time. Looking for a repeat of that to dominate.

Al Cimaglia: Woodbine Mohawk Park Early Pick 4 Analysis

                October 13, 2023 | By Al Cimaglia
Woodbine Mohawk Park has a 13-race card with the headliners being Ontario breds battling in Gold Super Finals action. The 0.20 Early Pick 4 starts in Race 4, and it will be my focus.

Comments and selections below are based on a fast track.

                Race 4 (8:29 PM EST)

2-Its A Love Thing (8/5)-This filly comes off a huge win in the $540,000 Great Lady Final and has a bigger bankroll than the morning line chalk Pass Line. It would be no surprise if driver James MacDonald is posing after this race and should be forwardly placed throughout.
7-Pass Line (7/5)-The Burke brigade owns and as with the one above Dave Menary trains. This 8-time winner in 10 starts with a 4-race win streak and is going to be difficult to beat. This appears to be a 2-horse battle for a picture. Burke's top call driver, Yannick Gingras gets the assignment and for my money this one appears to be just a shade better than her stablemate.

                Race 5 (8:52 PM EST)

1-Duchenne (2-1)-Betting Line filly drew off by more than 4-lengths over this type last week. Got the jump and was able to win by open lengths while only needing a 28.4 last quarter to get that margin. Looks like the one to beat and will be a small price but this probably won't be as easy.
2-JM Betonsix (7/2)-Finished a distant 3rd in the same race as the one above. Came 1st over into some swift fractions and that did not work. This mare has been consistently in the hunt at Wbsb. Has hit the board in 18 of 31 in 2023 and if #1 doesn't seal the deal this gal could post a win.

                Race 6 (9:15 PM EST)

3-Willowtime (5/2)-Suffered a break as an odds-on choice and lost all chance. Has won 3 of 4 races and could be greener than the rest who have more starts under their belt. This is a serious player and has a distinct post edge on other top foes.
9-Griff (4-1)-Should offer a square price with this post draw and has shown the ability to fly by the competition down the stretch. If the son of Muscle Mass is within striking range at the top of the lane it could be picture time.
10-Myretirementdream (8-1)-The post draw certainly makes it more difficult. But Jody Jamieson has some gate speed to work with and could end up in a decent seat. The price is right and it's best to not dismiss.

                Race 7 (9:38 PM EST)

1-Funtime Bayama-The Moreau trainee has been dominant versus this kind. Sylvain Fillion is at the controls again and will look to extend the 4-race win streak. Should take control off the gate and could make every call a winning one.

                $1.00 Early Pick 4

                2,7/1,2/3,9,10/1

                    Brian W. Spencer's Daily Picks

                    Remington Park - Race #7
#2 My Buddy Mel Think he has a little appeal with a couple lines on the page that show he can pass horses, and that might work in his favor while lined up inside a few pace and chasing types. Interesting if the chalk doesn't land it.
#4 Classic Rock He was second best behind a well-meant winner in stakes company here last month, and he figures in line for a good trip while right up near the top. The clear one to beat.
#1 Wish Man I have some worry that he might be along too late, but no real arguments from me on the debut score when coming away late with a rush. Some reasonable upside today could make him tough.
Race Summary My Buddy Mel might offer an attractive enough price in a spot where Classic Rock is likely to get bet, and deservingly so. Hoping 'Mel has a little upside at this point in his 2-year-old season after a few months away.
                    Remington Park - Race #8
#3 Alto Road I think there is going to be a lot of hard hustling going on early at this dash trip, and he might end of defaulting into a nice kind of trip while spying the speed.
#6 Jaxon Traveler Graded stakes winner has a handful of lines on his page that would drill this group, but I'm a little worried about all the need-the-lead pace signed on even at this short trip. Wouldn't surprise to see him emerge from the early scramble to take this.
#4 Empire of Gold Gave him a lot of consideration in here, as he has a little bit of class to him and is probably capable of tucking in just behind the pace today. Might be able to make and sustain a move like last time a bit better in this spot.
Race Summary Alto Road has his work cut out for him while facing a couple horses who have earned more than a half-million dollars each, but I think he might get an OK finishing trip here after the committed early burners hook up.
                    Remington Park - Race #9
#3 Mor Victory Honestly have no clue what kind of price we're going to get here, but I'm not sure he's going to get all that lost here with a pretty sharp page if you isolate just the turf running lines. Surface switch offers hope for better.
#4 Bender Liked him quite a bit last out at 13/1, but he caught a pretty reliable winner that day who can be really tough on his best. This guy rallied well and figures to show up again, but it's fair to wonder whether he'll be too late.
#10 Pepper Jack He's another with some fairly honest finishing form, and his versatility in running style could serve him well while his rider works to find a spot from a wide draw.
Race Summary #6 Mint and #8 Wilton both have logical chances in here and are worth consideration, but Mor Victory has plenty of room to bounce back here at what I'm hoping will remain a mildly playable price.

                      Laurel Park - Race #1
#8 CARTWHEEL (4-1) Classy 8yo projects ideal trip at distance which he’s 8/3-2-2 and $114k earner.
#1 TRUE BLUE PEARL (10-1) Controlled pace on turf, rallied on all-weather track, now 2-4 for new barn.
#6 TWEET AWAY ROBIN (5-1) ‘Hung’ for second in five-horse sprint, gets class relief.
Race Summary CARTWHEEL got a good view of the Delaware Park grandstand while following the move of the 4-to-5 winner at 6F last out. She gets plenty of pace to rally into at a proven distance, so let’s make her today’s Best Bet.
                      Laurel Park - Race #4
#2 GLIDING AFLEET (4-1) Scratched off AE list in sprint, better suited to this distance, won close ones.
#1 COVERT CAT (2-1) Well-traveled 4yo romped to maiden victory the last time he ran at Laurel Park.
#8 CLOUD MUSIC (7-2) Takes some catching on the stretch-out if he handles the switch to turf.
Race Summary GLIDING AFLEET won in a pair of photo finishes at Parx the last two times he ran for a claiming price on the turf. He should sit a good stalking trip behind speedball CLOUD MUSIC and could get first run on the other main contenders. Bet to win and place.
                      Laurel Park - Race #6
#7 SOUPERSILVERDOLLAR (5-2) Kept good company in spring grass routes, starts for new connections.
#10 WORLD FACTOR (4-1) Ran big one but just missed victory with blinkers on, draws outside.
#6 BOLD HOPPERTUNITY (9-2) Nearly sprung debut shocker at 37-1, worked bullet since then.
Race Summary SOUPERSILVERDOLLAR returns off a six-month layoff in a new barn. He was the beaten favorite in three consecutive turf routes when last seen at Gulfstream Park. He finished behind the likes of Ordinary, who tested stakes company in two follow-up starts, People Force (4-14, $123k), who won a $25,000 starter allowance in his last start, and Read On, a next-out repeat winner. Bet to win and place.
