The Key: San Diego State (3-4) and Nevada (0-6) are both in the midst of disappointing seasons right now. I don't think there will be much defense at all being played in this one. That has been the case for both teams anyone. Nevada may have the worst defense in the country, yielding 39.5 PPG, 512 YPG and 8.2 YPP. San Diego State has fallen off a cliff defensively this season, yielding 31.3 PPG, 444 YPG and 6.5 YPP. Both offenses leave a little to be desired, but both should get on track this week. Nevada has still scored at least 24 in 3 of its last 4 games and can get to 24 in this one. San Diego State can name its number here after scoring 31 on Boise State and 31 on Hawaii in 2 of its last 3 games. Take the OVER.
#377/378 ASA FREE PLAY ON Over 47.5 Points – Nevada vs San Diego State, Saturday at 9 PM ET - Neither offense has been high scoring or dynamic this season which is why this total is low. However, let’s take a closer look. San Diego State has played 4 high level defenses so far this season in UCLA, Ohio, Oregon and Air Force. Those 4 teams all rank in the top 13 in total defense nationally. The SDSU offense expectedly struggled in those games. In the 2 games when the didn’t face an elite defense, the Aztecs scored 41 & 31 points. They won’t be facing an elite defense here to say the least. Nevada’s defense ranks dead last in CFB in total defense and YPP allowed. The Wolfpack also rank 132nd in PPG allowed and they’ve given up at least 31 points in 5 of their 6 games this season. We expect SDSU to look very good offensively on Saturday night. On the other side, the Aztecs have a reputation for being very solid defensively but that is not the case this season. They rank 119th in total defense and 128th in YPP allowed. In their last 5 games the Aztec defense has given up 35, 26, 34, 49, and 34 points. The Nevada offense struggled early this season, but they have now scored at least 24 points in 3 of their last 4 games. The only time they didn’t reach 24 during that stretch was vs Fresno who ranks in the top 30 in total defense. Last week, the Wolfpack offense played as well as they have all season averaging 7.0 YPP vs rival UNLV. Nevada put up 27 points in that loss to UNLV (45-27 final score) but could have scored more with 2 turnovers deep in UNLV territory. This total is set low due to the offensive numbers each team has put up this year but it’s too low based on the poor defensive performances. Over is the play.
NY Rangers @ Seattle (10:05 PM EST)
Play On: NY Rangers -128
The New York Rangers travel to Seattle to take on the Kraken on Saturday night. NY Rangers are 2-2 overall this year while Seattle comes in with a 1-4 overall record on the season. The NY Rangers are 8-1 last 9 games against the Pacific division. The Rangers are 15-4 last 19 games against the Western Conference. Seattle is 2-6 last 8 games when playing on 1 days rest. Seattle is 1-4 last 5 games after a win. We'll recommend a small play on the NY Rangers tonight! Thanks and good luck, Rocky
Saturday CFB Free play. My selection is on Arizona State plus the points +27.5 -105 over Washington at 10:30 pm et on Saturday.
Washington isn't a program that's used to so much national attention and the spotlight only got bigger following last week's wild 36-33 win over Oregon. Now the Huskies are being asked to lay nearly four touchdowns against an opponent that doesn't get much hungrier in Arizona State. The Sun Devils have lost five games in a row but they've been reasonably competitive, losing by 14 points at USC, three points at Cal and three points at home against Colorado over their last three games. Arizona State can play some defense, limiting opponents to just 3.6 yards per rush and 6.5 yards per pass attempt this season. The Sun Devils have to feel more than a little disrespected with this line, noting they've defeated the Huskies in each of the last two seasons, including a 45-38 victory as a 13.5-point underdog last year. Take Arizona State.
