Monday NBA Free play. My selection is on Sacramento plus the points over Houston at 8:10 pm et on Monday.
Bettors seem to be spooked after seeing the Kings get drilled by double-digits in the front half of this two-game set in Houston. The Rockets have now recorded consecutive wins for the first time this season while Sacramento has dropped two games in a row. I look for the Kings to rebound on Monday. Sacramento really couldn't have played any worse than it did on Saturday in Houston as it connected on just 32-of-84 field goal attempts in the lopsided defeat. While the absence of De'Aaron Fox hurts, I do think we'll see the Kings rally in this spot as they look to salvage something from this three-game road trip. Sacramento did take all four meetings in this series last season and while the Rockets are certainly a different team this season, I'm still anticipating some growing pains - as we saw when they opened the campaign with three straight losses. Take Sacramento.
ack's Free Pick Monday: Celtics/Timberwolves OVER 223 -109
This is definitely a clash in styles. The Boston Celtics play up-tempo, lead the NBA in offensive rating and take a hit defensively this season. They lost defensive stalwarts Marcus Smart, Robert Williams and Grant Williams, and the addition of Kristaps Porzingis makes them dynamic offensively. The Minnesota Timberwolves prefer to slow it down and lead the NBA in defensive rating with Rudy Gobert leading the way.
The Celtics are going to get theirs. They are scoring 126.4 points per game on 50.1% shooting and 38.9% from 3-point range. The Timberwolves are going to have trouble defending them with Gobert having to play more away from the basket to defend Porzingis, one of the best big man shooters in the game.
But the Timberwolves should also get theirs by dominating on the glass and getting plenty of easy put backs. They are outrebounding opponents by 6 boards per game and will certainly have a big advantage over the Celtics, who are playing more small ball this year, which has led to their offensive success.
This total has been bet down from an opener of 228 down to 223, and I think that's too big of an adjustment with the value now on the OVER. Boston is 10-1 OVER in its last 11 road games following four consecutive games where they made 47% of their shots or better. Minnesota is 14-3 OVER in its last 17 games vs. good teams outscoring their opponents by 6-plus points per game. Bet the OVER in this game Monday.
I'll take my chances with the Hawks as a 3.5-point road favorite against the Thunder. Atlanta comes into this game on a 4-game win streak. All four 4 wins coming by at least 7 points. The offense has been playing extremely well, putting up 125.4 ppg (60.2 ppg at half) on 50.6% shooting. OKC is just 1-3 SU at home this season and are down their best player in Shai Gilgeous-Alexander. Give me the Hawks -3.5!
Monday night football wraps up the week for us, and we're hoping it's been a successful weekend for you! Backing the UNDER here on Monday.
The Jets boast the NFL's 5th-best pass defense, limiting opponents to just 15PPG during wins against Denver, Phili, and the GMEN. Plus, the Jets have scored 13 points or less in three games. Full Stop!
I'm not sure I see these two teams putting up more than 35 points in this one. They Jets haven't scored 20 in who knows how long, and aren't built to go toe-to-toe with teams. Plus the Jets defense is a top unit in the NFL, they should be able to keep the Chargers in check...somewhat.
While the Jets may have won 13-10 over the Giants are they a team that will be able to trade punches with the Chargers on MNF? (Let me answer that rhetorical ? for you) No chance in hell. The Bolts catch another break on their schedule here to get right. Last week it was a 30-13 blowout of da Bears, now they get a team that's not much better in the Jets.
This is more a play on the Jets defense than a play on the Chargers offense. I think both teams try to pound the ball with Ekeler and Hall going at it. That clock will be moving all night long.
Some trends to note, the total has gone UNDER in 5 of the Chargers' L5, and in 5 of LAC's L6 games played on a Monday. On the other side the total has gone UNDER in 9 of the Jets' L12, plus the UNDER has hit in 5 of the NY's L6 at home.
