The Chargers made their way to the East Coast and are playing an early start time for their body clocks. The Patriots have struggled this season, but one bright spot is their defense. The Patriots will make Justin Herbert very uncomfortable in today’s game. Regarding defense, the Chargers don’t know what that word is. Patriots QB Bailey Zappe is looking to become a steady starter in this league and couldn’t get a better opponent to test his arm out today. The Patriots have good receivers. The problem has been getting them the ball. The betting line is too high, as the underdog has tremendous value in this spot. Take the Patriots.

Lions/Saints Over 47.5
Today’s game features two teams with veteran offensive lines, outstanding running backs, and quality receivers. The Lions are an excellent offensive team, while the Saints have the talent but have yet to put together many complete games. Detroit will have the luxury of facing a Saints secondary missing Marshon Lattimore and Marcus Maye. Look for Jared Goff to have a big day. The Saints should run the ball well and succeed due to their balanced attack. Look for a lot of points in New Orleans. Take the Over.

Dolphins -9.5 over Commanders
The Commanders are in the basement of the NFC East as they have lost three straight. Washington has a bad defense that will improve in the offseason but won’t for the next few weeks. Miami is the top team in the AFC East and will look to hold their lead with a big win on the road. Tua Tagovailoa has a lot of weapons at his disposal, and the running game is rock solid. On the other hand, the Commanders need a better running game outside of Brian Robinson. Washington could be without their center, which would be a massive hit to a weaker offensive line. The spread is high, but after 60 minutes, Miami should create separation. The Dolphin’s defense should create turnovers and get consistent pressure on the young Sam Howell. The good news for Miami is the weather is warmer for this time of year. Take the Dolphins.

Panthers +3 over Bucs
The Panthers fired Frank Reich after a disastrous season, and now the special teams coach, Chris Tabor, takes over for the rest of the year. Bad teams that get a new coach play better, as it’s a clean slate. Carolina has an outstanding defense that should keep the running game in check. Bucs WR Chris Godwin is not at full strength so that the Panthers can focus more on Mike Evans. The Carolina defense can undoubtedly knock around Tampa QB Baker Mayfield. The Panthers will get the ground game going with Miles Sanders and Chubba Hubbard and then attack the secondary. Tampa is without Jamal Dean at cornerback, so the Panthers might be able to find an edge. It’s weird when you see the home team only favored by three over the worst team in the NFL. Take the Panthers.

Chiefs -6 over Packers
Jourdan Love has played a few good games in his first year as the Packers’ starting quarterback, but he is far from a next-level quarterback. The Packers will be without Aaron Jones tonight, so their running game takes a hit. Jones can catch the ball well, so his absence will hurt the Packers. Green Bay has a limited number of quality receivers, so the Chiefs should be able to shut them down. The Chiefs are the top team in the AFC West, but the Broncos are on their heels, so they need “easy” wins like tonight. Look for Kansas City to get the ground game going early, opening up the deep shots. Take the Chiefs.
