Big Al Mcmordie Los Angeles Lakers at San Antonio Spurs 03/12/19
Mar 12 2009 8:00PM
Prediction: under
Reason: At 8 pm, our member selection is on the 'under' in the game between San Antone and Los Angeles. In the last 11 meetings between these two western conference rivals in the Alamo City, only one has gone 'over' the total. That game was the first meeting this season between these two teams. Tonight, I look for a 'return to form,' and for this game to sail 'under' the total of 195. Good luck, as always...Al McMordie. -

Ben Burns NBA Houston Rockets at Charlotte Bobcats 03/12/09
Prediction: under
Reason: The Rockets crushed the Bobcats by a score of 99-78 a few weeks ago. That wasn't particularly surprising though, as that game was at Houston and homecourt means an awful lot to both these teams.
Heading into Wednesday's showdown with the Lakers (played after presstime) the Rockets have won 12 straight home games, going 17-3 their last 20. However, heading into Monday's clash at Denver, they've won just seven of their past 20 road games. For the season, through the weekend, the Rockets are 27-6 at home but just 14-17 on the road.
As for the Bobcats, through the weekend, they're 10-20 on the road but a respectable 18-15 at home. Lately, however, it hasn't mattered where they've played, as they've been "getting it done," regardless of venue. Indeed, Saturday's 114-105 victory over the Knicks brought the Bobcats to a perfect 6-0 SU/ATS their last six games.
The Bobcats have won two of four all-time home meetings with the Rockets. While they lost last year's meeting, that loss came by only three points. Playing as well as they ever have and with recent "payback" on their minds, consider backing the revenge-minded Bobcats.Comment

Larry Ness | CBB Sides
double-dime bet775 NMex St -1.5 (-110) BetUS vs 776 Boise St.
Analysis:
Boise St made a remarkable run last year in the WAC tourney, upsetting Utah St in the semis and then, in three overtimes, beat New Mexico St 107-103 on its home court in Las Cruces, nabbing the school's first NCAA bid in 14 years. However, head coach Greg Graham lost four starters from that team, the 6-6 Larry (19.4-9.2), the 6-9 Nelson (15.7-7.3) and the 6-7 Tiederman (13.9-3.4) in the frontcourt plus guard Bauscher (9.2-3.2 APG). This year's team has a fairly solid frontcourt despite all the losses, featuring the 6-7 Sanchez (12.8-7.1), the 6-7 Noonan (10.7-3.6), the 6-9 Cunningham (9.8-4.1) and the 6-9 Okoyoe (9.0-5.6). The Broncos' backcourt is also fairly deep with Thomas (9.4-4.8 APG), Garner (5.7), Greene (6.2) and Anderson (5.4). Boise State enters this game 19-11, including 9-7 in the WAC. New Mexico State is 16-14 and like Boise, 9-7 in the WAC. Also like Boise, NMSU lost four starters from LY's 21-14 team. The lone returning starter is Gibson (13.8), who is joined in the backcourt by Young (18.1-4.0-3.1), Larouche (5.6-4.3 APG) and Castillo (4.6). The 6-6 McKines (12.2-10.0) has been joined up front this year by two freshman, the 6-8 Gillenwater (12.4-4.3) and the 7-0 Rahman (6.9-4.6). Boise beat Nex Mex St in both meetings this year and now the teams get a rematch of last year's championship classic, squaring off in this year's quarterfinals. Neither team plays much defense and the winner will almost assuredly be gone in the next round, vs Utah St. However, as I so often do, I'm getting ahead of myself. Boise St cost New Mex St a second straight NCAA bid with that triple-OT win last year in Las Cruces and while Aggies have little hope of winning this week's tourney (and gaining the automatic bid), they sure can offer up some "payback" for last year's title-game loss and two regular season losses this year, ending any hopes Boise had of a return to the "Big Dance" this year. Re: 3-12-09
BIG AL's ONE and ONLY ACC TOURNEY GAME OF THE YEAR -- 12 Noon
At 12 Noon, our ACC Tourney Game of the Year is on the Miami Fla Hurricanes minus the points over Va Tech. These two teams played last year in the ACC Tourney, and Va Tech came away with a 63-49 victory. The Hokies also won the teams' only meeting this season (88-83 in overtime at Miami), so the 'Canes play with major revenge. Indeed, Miami falls into the same 79-36 and 56-18 ATS revenge systems of mine which also tagged our Big 12 Tourney Game of the Year on Baylor yesterday, and I expect Frank Haith's club to win this game in a blowout. Virginia Tech has dropped six of its last seven games, so it's not playing well down the stretch. It shot a season-low 30 percent from the field in Sunday's loss, and made just five of 20 three-pointers (25%). That doesn't bode well against this Miami club, which held NC State without a field goal over a 12-minute stretch in the 2nd half Saturday, in outscoring the Wolfpack 51-34 after the break. Miami has won three of its last four, and is 22-9 ATS its last 31 away from home. Take Miami-Fla. Good luck, as always...Al McMordie. And don't miss my Mountain West and SEC Conference Tourney Games of the Year today.Comment

Al
At 1 pm, our SEC Tourney Game of the Year is on the Kentucky Wildcats minus the points over Mississippi.
At 5:30 pm, our Mountain West Tourney Game of the Year is on the UNLV Rebels minus the points over San Diego State. The Rebels will be playing this game in front of their home fans at Thomas & Mack Arena, and it's not wise to go against a home team in conference tourney games unless one has a very good reason.Comment
