GILLIGAN - This horse has shown the power to win at different tracks. Making the move from Mountaineer Park for today's event, I have to believe he's ready to run. SAVVY LAYLA - This gelding is in nice form, having run a nice race on Nov 15th, finishing first. ENZOEXPRESS - The rider/conditioner duo of Hernandez and Pizzurro has a strong return on investment together. This thoroughbred has increased his speed ratings in each of the last 2 races. That kind of progress is worth considering when its time to bet.

Vulnerable Contenders: #3 WOODLAND WALK (ML=5/2), #7 D'MONEY HONEY (ML=6/1), #6 OVERBEARING (ML=8/1),

WOODLAND WALK - Most likely won't make much of an impression today. D'MONEY HONEY - In any event of 6 furlongs, I like to bet on a contender that has been sharp in short distance contests lately. Had to show me much more last time out. Never made much of an impact. OVERBEARING - Don't believe this pony will make an impact in today's race. That last speed figure was common when compared with today's class figure.

GUEST COMMENTARY: The Brain - GILLIGAN - Some may pass on this one given his lackluster effort at Mountaineer Park in last race. But that was on a sloppy track. Be wary of this animal today.

Ran a strong last race. SNAPPY RIDE - This filly is a definite contender based on her earnings per start in dirt sprint races. Her chances to score are much better this time out facing this less demanding lot. FAST INTENTIONS - Is tough not to examine based on speed figs which have been decent - 57 avg - of late. Should be carefully examined based on the very good Equibase Speed Figure posted in the last race.

FRANCIA (PER) - This horse coming off a good race in the last month or so is a win candidate in my opinion. Ran last time around the track against much better horses at Mountaineer Park. The move down the class scale should suit her well. STORY CHANNEL - A campaigner coming back this quickly after a good outing is a good sign. TEST YOUR FAITH - Wade brings her back again. I advocate you stick with this hot filly.

Vulnerable Contenders: #7 GIO'S MY DAD (ML=3/1), #3 MEMORIES ETERNAL (ML=5/1), #4 ICY RAIN (ML=6/1),

GIO'S MY DAD - This horse doesn't have a winning mental state. Often finishes close, but no cigar. MEMORIES ETERNAL - Hard to keep chasing this sort of 'bridesmaid' horse. ICY RAIN - If you keep selecting these kind of 'bridesmaid' types, you're going to be disillusioned often. Looked good on November 19th, finishing third, but no workouts since is a bit troublesome. Finished third in her most recent race with a mediocre rating. When I look at today's class rating, it would take an improved performance to triumph after that in this bunch.

I think DIVA POWER is a decent choice. Should be considered here on the basis of the figs in the speed realm alone. Going in a dirt sprint race gives this mare a respectable shot. Should come out strong - I have liked the way this mare has moved swiftly to the front end recently. DANCIN' ROSIE - Looks very strong for the conditions of this contest today, showing solid figs in dirt sprint races as of late. With Rivera controlling the reins on her, this mare should be able to break out quickly in this competition. SARAH JANE - Change in Lasix (on Lasix) may be the key to a turnaround. One of the best win percentages between this jockey and trainer make this mare dangerous.

Al Cimaglia: Yonkers Raceway Late Pick 4 Analysis

Yonkers Raceway begins the week with an 11-race card. The 0.50 Pick 5 starts in Race 5, and it has a $10,000 guaranteed pool. The $1.00 Late Pick 4 rolls in Race 8, and it will be my focus.

Comments and selections below are based on a fast track.

Race 8 (9:20 PM EST)

3-Desperate Man 2-1-Took a picture at this level and is looking for its 4th straight win. Draws inside of main foes and has been too good to ignore.
4-Covered Bridge 4-1-Recent form has been fine and didn't connect in the last 2 races with outside draws. Tonight, gets a better post to start another win streak.
5-Peace Out Posse 7/2-Drew off in last by more than 5 lengths, has dangerous gate speed and shouldn't be overlooked. Could land on top again despite facing better and with a quick start the Joe-Jenn entry is in play.

Race 9 (9:40 PM EST)

1-Seth Hanover 5-1-Seth has shown some heart in 2 of the last 3 all coming at this class. Should have the lead when the wings fold and has a shot to win at a square price if Siegelman can rate the mile.
3-Tuggin On My Heart 5/2-This is another Bongiorno entry with good gate speed. Fits and could be on top or in the pocket around the 1st turn and is threat for top honors.

Race 10 (10:00 PM EST)

1-Shakespeare (3-1)-This is the 1st start for the Daguet barn. That conditioner and Brennan teamed up for a win on 11-20 versus this kind from the rail. Best to respect chances for the same outcome here.
4-My Miki Beach (5/2)-Has made it look easy winning 3 in a row at this class and faces a couple of tough customers. Jimmy Pants steers and may not be bet down off the morning line. But form is too good to leave off the ticket.

Race 11 (10:20 PM ET)

1-Ima Happy Fella GB (9/5)-This is the 3rd start since taking 3.5 months off and drops to a soft spot. Comes off a no-move mile from post 7 against better. Stratton can get on the point early on and should have no issue taking a picture if dialed on high.

Mahoning Valley - Race #5

#11 One More Ring	He has been pretty honest for the last couple months and might find a good spot from this wide draw today. Think he can spy the speed just a bit and get past these.
#7 Quantum Theory	I like the way he has stacked up with the locals in the recent starts, and he has a little versatility that should leave him in a position to run on late for a piece or more. Think he's the main danger.
#3 Reinsure	Think there are a few races on the page here last season that would be enough to keep him in the frame for a share at a nice number, and maybe he sticks around a bit longer in the second start off the break.
Race Summary	One More Ring might get a really nice go of things from the outside today while tracking a couple of modest pace players, and I'm hoping he'll offer something in the ballpark of that 4/1 ML price.

Mahoning Valley - Race #7

#6 Smartasset	She seems likely enough to manage the move around two turns after tracking the pace and staying on last time out. Don't think the price is going to be much, but she might handle these without a ton of trouble.
#4 Dominus O's Me	She has already had her share of chances, and I don't totally trust her to carry that pressing sprint speed around two turns. Wouldn't shock in a bad race, but I think she might be weary late.
#3 Windy Valley	She's probably best of the pace and that gives her a realistic chance to run these off their feet, but she has to turn the tables on the top choice from their last couple meetings.
Race Summary	Smartasset has been slowly moving the right way through three starts, and she has shown the kind of style that should give her every chance to be successful while getting around two turns.

Mahoning Valley - Race #8

#8 Kachow	I have a mild worry that she's going to battle early on and fail to stay late again, but I think her baseline effort probably makes her the one to beat, and the team does really good work in this kind of spot.
#7 Now I'm Here	She has already had a few tries, but she has stayed on well enough in a couple of those to suggest she might be able to hang well enough with these for a piece. Interested to see how she stacks up.
#2 Kateryna	She might be able to get in the mix just a touch earlier this time around, and the better draw inside today might produce a cozier trip for her. Wouldn't be a shock.
Race Summary	Think #3 No Body Loves Me is at least worth a look on the track ahead of this. Kachow hasn't managed to stay in her first couple starts, but she can probably handle these with any small step forward.
