Mahoning Valley - Race #5

#7 Light Up My Life	She's got the right style to be tough in here while always in touch with whatever pace develops, and she's fast enough to have a go for it if nothing else materializes. Lots to like.
#4 Lori's Eyes	She doesn't always finish her races with enough punch to score, but she also rarely quits hard, and that kind of grinding ability can play pretty well over the local surface. Think she's one of the ones.
#11 Moon Party	Nothing to write home about in those recent starts, but she has turned in a handful of races this year that might be good enough for a piece at a price if she can find some of that better form again.
Race Summary	Light Up My Life and Lori's Eyes look like the right two in here, and I'll try to get Moon Party in the mix today in hopes that she'll start hinting at better form today after some dull recent tries.

Mahoning Valley - Race #7

#6 Excitement	I don't think the price is going to be much here, but he's probably supposed to handle this group without a ton of trouble. He was second-best behind a super sharp winner last time out and has won his last three non-stakes tries very easily. He'll win this if he holds form.
#1 Oklahoma Joe	He has some dangerous pace from the fence while at least gives him a chance to run these off their feet, but he was no match for the top choice when they met in October. Possible alternative.
#4 Hoppy Gilmore	Would have liked to see just a touch more late punch last out, but that was a decent effort on the rise to meet this kind, and something similar keeps him in the frame for a piece.
Race Summary	Excitement has been landing shares in stakes company and has had little issue dispatching anyone who has come his way in his three non-stakes races this year -- don't see why today should be any different.

Mahoning Valley - Race #8

#10 B Sassi	Think she's the back end of a chalky late double, but there isn't a ton of pace lined up in here and she draws perfectly to force the issue from the break. Mild concern about her modest finishing ability, but I'm hoping she's started to put these away by the eighth pole.
#8 Cowgirls Humor	The barn has done some OK work in the past with longshot runners in this type of spot, and while the last one wasn't anything special, it was still a pretty serious improvement over those first two duds. Let's say that was one step in the right direction -- another would put her in the frame at a price.
#7 My Daniela	She has some upside in the second career start, but she didn't show a lot of acceleration at any point in there and might need better than that kind of even run today to land this. Consider if you're trying to beat the chalk.
Race Summary	B Sassi should get the run of the race from out here today, and I'll try to get Cowgirls Humor into the second or third spot with her to make this one interesting.

Race Summary	CITY RAGE remained eligible for this “non-winners in three months” condition despite a runaway turf-to-dirt win for a $10,000 tag two starts back. He then set the pace while carrying 124 pounds and finished third behind hard-hitting winner Doinittherightway (7-13, $184k), a next-out repeat winner. Bet to win and place and play 3-4 and 3-7 exactas.

Penn National - Race #3

#6 KOKOPELLI GIRL (6-1)	Works say ‘all set’ to win at first asking in Carrasco’s only scheduled mount on card.
#9 BACK FORTY (5-2)	Closed with a rush for second as debut fave, ran second in follow-up stakes.
#2 DUELA DENT (9-2)	Led by city block with blinkers on but faltered at Laurel Park at same distance.
Race Summary	KOKOPELLI GIRL has been turning heads in the morning at Fair Hill Training Center, reeling off three consecutive bullet workouts. Her dam finished second in her debut, ran 1-2 in 20 of 45 starts and was a multiple stakes winner competing mostly at small tracks in Arizona. Bet to win and place.

Penn National - Race #4

#4 NORTHWOODS (6-1)	A win and a second to repeat fave in three starts after year layoff.
#1 PREDICTED (2-1)	Steady form, only $100k earner in field, 0ut-kicked by 32-1 longshot at Aqueduct.
#3 ON THE RIM (10-1)	Exits fast heat, winless at this distance, can land minor awards.
Race Summary	NORTHWOODS ranged up 4-wide for the stretch drive but settled for second behind winning favorite If We Get Lucky, who came back to win again in 1:10.4 in the same spot last week. He’s in good form and offers good enough value for a win and place bet.

HE'S IN CHARGE - On Nov 22nd this gelding shipped in to win and looks good right back. Using this jock/trainer combination is a good choice. This gelding is in good physical condition. Ended up first on November 22nd. Ranked numero uno in earnings per race. Another notice that this animal has the class to take this race. GRAINGER COUNTY - It looks like the speed horses may duel each other into the ground. When the real running starts this gelding should be rolling down the lane. I just may give this one a good shot. Should improve off last race where he did run out of the money, but was within 5 lengths at the end.

Vulnerable Contenders: #7 FLIPPING FISH (ML=9/5), #1 WELL CONNECTED (ML=5/2), #9 HENRY'S WORLD (ML=8/1),

FLIPPING FISH - This mount hasn't been on the track since November 20th. Not even any morning activity. WELL CONNECTED - Notched a mediocre rating last race out in a Starter Allowance race on Oct 17th. Improbable to see an improved performance off of that figure. HENRY'S WORLD - Speed figures of 92/83/79 are going the wrong way. Recorded a mediocre speed rating last time around the track in a $6,250 Claiming race on Nov 24th. Unlikely to see an improved performance off of that number.

GUEST COMMENTARY: The Brain - HE'S IN CHARGE - My historical calculations say it usually takes a thoroughbred at least 2 races after a layoff to get back into condition. That's just what we have here, so I have a good feeling for this horse.

ISLANDINTHESTREAM - She has to be given a shot given the competitive speed figs. The average class rating of 51 makes this one hard to beat.
