I think this horse is very ready right now. I like the fact that Stormfelt brings him back to a race so quickly. I like to bet on this handicapping theory, a horse coming back off a strong outing within the last thirty days. LIGHTNING TONES - The race may set up nicely for this magnificent animal's late kick and he's probably the best closer in the field. This gelding is in good form. Ran first on November 24th.

I like to invest in this handicapping theory, a thoroughbred coming back off a good contest within the last month. IN TROUBLED WATERS - This horse coming off a solid effort in the last 30 days is a win candidate in my humble opinion. You have to bet this horse at a location she likes. There's nothing like being comfortable out on the track when it's time to race. This filly gets a weight break of -5 lbs from last race. This should help in this field. AUNT BEE - Ginter has this mare signed up for the ideal contest. MOBIL CHIC - Zielinski drops her down to this class. You don't need too much more handicapping knowledge to think this one has a good chance at this level. I like to bet on this handicapping angle, a thoroughbred coming back off a strong effort within the last thirty days. This animal has increased her speed ratings from a fig of 58 to 63 to 70 in succession. LUCKY PENNY ROSE - I like to bet on this angle, a campaigner coming back off a strong race within the last thirty days.

PLANE TALK - A gelding like this one, almost always in the money, usually makes an excellent trifecta key horse. We have lots of early speed with this thoroughbred. He could wire this field. This animal has recorded the best recent turf Equibase speed figure at the distance and surface. FORTUITY - This one has recorded the best recent turf speed rating at the dist/surf. May be extremely hard to beat this noble animal on the grass today. Last time around the track scored a nice turf fig, the highest of any of these animals. I like the fact that this gelding's last speed rating, 91, is tops in this field.

Vulnerable Contenders: #8 MISTER MMMMM (ML=3/1), #5 TOUGH CHARLIE (ML=4/1), #9 KAELY'S BROTHER (ML=6/1),

MISTER MMMMM - I normally try to beat this kind of chalk. Long layoff and no drop in level of competition. TOUGH CHARLIE - Tough to invest in any entrant in a short distance event at 4/1 when he hasn't shown any successful endeavors in sprints in the last couple months. This group is a whole lot tougher than the ones he met in the last event. Registered a common speed figure last race out in a $12,500 Optional Claiming race on August 13th. Doubtful to see an improved performance off of that rating. KAELY'S BROTHER - Hasn't hit the board in any short distance contests recently. Not probable to see him doing it today either.

TOUGH CAT - Is hard not to consider given the company run in lately. Conditioner boasts very strong win figs at this distance and surface. SHADOWY - Has been close at the wire most every time lately. This colt ought to be considered just off the earnings per start in dirt sprint races alone.

GHOSTLY GAL - Faced tougher last out at Golden Gate Fields. Based on class ratings, this is a weaker bunch, so I will put this horse on my list of contenders. Looking at this mare's running lines, I see she's almost always in the money. 82-91-95 are last three Equibase speed figs. Improving each time out is something she should do again right here in this race. SPRING MAGIC - Last race out, finished fourth on a sloppy track at Mahoning Valley Race Cour. Have to give a better effort in this event. Last raced at Mahoning Valley Race Cour carrying 5 lbs more. The lower weight assigned in this field should serve her well.

Vulnerable Contenders: #10 MAOTAI (ML=3/1), #11 CHIQUITA MOSCA (ML=5/1), #5 THE CLUB (ML=6/1),

MAOTAI - 3/1 is too short of a value to take on most any horse that has run poorly in back to back races. CHIQUITA MOSCA - 5/1 is too low of a value to take on most any mount that has run poorly in back to back outings. Finished fifth in her most recent effort with a disappointing speed fig. When I look at today's Equibase class figure, it would take an improved performance to win after that in this group. THE CLUB - Speed figs tell a narrative of declining condition. Couldn't make up any ground at all on Nov 15th. Hard to bet on today at the expected odds.

GUEST COMMENTARY: The Brain - GHOSTLY GAL - Contrary to popular belief, some horses run much better off a long layoff. This one has been off 327 days, and in similar circumstances in the past, has run nicely.
