Tuesday NBA Free play. My selection is on Philadelphia minus the points over Chicago at 7:10 pm et on Tuesday.
I like the bounce-back spot for the 76ers here as they play with double-revenge against the Bulls, who just outlasted them two nights ago in Chicago. Note that the last time these two teams met here in Philadelphia, the Bulls prevailed as double-digit underdogs on December 18th. On that occasion, the 76ers were in a clear letdown spot off a 53-point rout of the Hornets in Charlotte two nights earlier. It's a much different situation this time around as Philadelphia looks to rebound following Sunday's double-digit defeat in Chicago. Note that the 76ers are an incredible 30-13 ATS in their last 43 games when seeking revenge for a loss against an opponent. When that loss came by 10 points or more on the road, Philadelphia has gone 9-1 ATS. Additionally, the Bulls are 11-23 ATS in their last 34 road contests after scoring 105 points or less in their previous game, as is the case here. Take Philadelphia.
Minnesota is 7th in the league in scoring chance differential at 5 on 5 in their last 10 games compared to 26th for the Flames (7.5% advantage). They also have a 10% advantage in medium danger chances and a 3.5% advantage in both Corsi and high danger chances. The Wild should be favored by more -- at home and the better team by far right now.
This looks like a good spot to back the Memphis Grizzlies to end a three-game losing streak. The Grizzlies are coming off a 123-92 loss to Sacramento on New Year's Eve but they are 4-0 ATS in their last 4 games vs. a team with a losing straight up record.
The Spurs are 5-27 SU and 12-20 ATS on the season. They have allowed 130 points or more in six of their last eight games.
At Professionalsportspicks we see a future where those handicapping sports without advanced analytics and data-driven strategies will be left behind.
Our data-driven picks use data integration, search and discovery, and knowledge management along with collaboration with our in-house handicappers. By isolating relevant trends, removing human bias, and targeting only lines with a positive expected value above a certain threshold, our data-driven picks promise to outperform any and all human competitors.
Our models suggest that the value is on the Oklahoma City Thunder as a home underdog against Boston on Tuesday. The Thunder defeated Brooklyn 124-108 on New Year's Eve and we think they'll ride the momentum to another strong outing.
Supporting trends: Thunder are 41-19-3 ATS in their last 63 games following a straight up win of more than 10 points. Thunder are 5-1 ATS in their last 6 home games vs. a team with a winning road record.
The 10-2 Northwestern Wildcats against the 10-2 Illinois Fighting Illini in a battle of undefeated Big 10 teams. Northwestern opened conference play with a win over Purdue while Illinois took care of Rutgers. The Northwestern Wildcats have gotten off to a very good start to the season as they look to make the dance for the second year in a row. Northwestern is led by Boo Buie with 17.9 points while Brooks Barnhizer adds 13.3 points per game. The Wildcats put up 72.9 points per game while allowing 63.1. The Illini are ranked 9th in the country but will be without leading scorer Terrence Shannon Jr., who was charged with rape and suspended indefinitely from the team. Shannon led the team with 21.7 points per game. Illinois is putting up 82.9 points per game while allowing just 65.5 points. Illini will miss Shannon Jr.’s on both ends of the court. In last year’s game between these two in Illinois, the Illini won 66-62. I like Northwestern to keep this one close as Shaanon’s big play ability will be missed.
We feel that "home ice" will prove to be the difference-maker in this one between these two evenly matched teams. The Leafs are not playing good hockey right now, as they've lost five of their last six, including three in a row. With a much more "winnable" game at the Ducks tomorrow, will the visiting side get caught "looking ahead?!" LA won't be taking anything for granted here, as it comes in off back-to-back 3-2 losses to the best in the league (Vegas and Edmonton.) At this price, we feel that LA is absolutely worth the price of admission in this matchup; consider the Kings!
