ALL ABOUT KATHERN - A big drop in class figure points from her Aug 10th race at Colonial Downs. Based on that key piece of info, I will give this thoroughbred the advantage. True, this campaigner is coming off a layoff, but this mare runs well fresh. A repeat of that last performance on August 10th where she notched a speed rating of 63 looks good enough to triumph in this affair. BACKSPLASH - Taking a trip down the ladder based on class; has the capability to make her presence felt. You should toss that last event at Mahoning Valley Race Cour in the slop where she finished out of the money. Should do well in this event on a non-sloppy track.

AWAY TO RETURN - I don't normally play a chalk horse that hasn't been to the track in the last three weeks. Not easy to invest in this steed today. Make her show you something in a sprint race before you wager on her in a race of 5 1/2 furlongs. SHELLEY'S GEM - 4/1 is not worth the risk for any horse in a sprint of 5 1/2 furlongs that hasn't finished in the money in a sprint event recently. Didn't meet expectations when favored twice. Finished fifth in her most recent race with a run-of-the-mill speed rating. When I look at today's class rating, it would take an improved performance to score after that in this bunch. OUT ATTHE SPEEDWAY - Can't wager on this steed in today's sprint of 5 1/2 furlongs. Hasn't even hit the board in a sprint event lately. Finished fourth in her most recent race with a somewhat easily forgotten rating. When I look at today's Equibase class figure, it would take an improved performance to win after that in this bunch.

DREAMWITHINADREAM - All systems look good for this gelding. Last prep, 2nd fastest of the day, shows he's fit and ready. Ran a winning race January 1st, but just couldn't haul in the winner. Pennington is right back for another race today after riding on board this horse for the first ride on January 1st and ought to know the ropes to this one a little better.

When I look at today's Equibase class figure, it would take an improved performance to prove victorious after that in this field. IT'S A PITY - This gelding is always in the money, but just doesn't get the job done. Hard to play him on the front end.

I've got to go with AWAY TO RETURN. This mare ought to be given a chance just off the earnings per start in dirt sprint races alone. Reason to like this mare as she has in the saddle one of the best jocks using winning percentages over the last 30 days. Boasts solid speed figures on average overall when measured up against the rest of this group. ALL ABOUT KATHERN - Aviles has a win percentage of 15 over the last 30 days. Could best this field based on the Equibase Speed Figure - 63 - of her last affair. COWGIRL KIMMIE - Spiess has this mare running well and is a solid choice based on the very good Equibase Speed Figs put up in sprint races lately. I expect a formidable performance from this horse whose handler has one of the strongest return on investment percentages with horses running at this distance and surface.
