BOSTON RED SOX (-150) AND
1ST 5 INNINGS: BOSTON RED SOX (-145) (MLB)
** PLAY OF THE DAY **
The Oakland A's are pretty brutal this season and although they put up a good fight yesterday in Game 2 of this series, they still came up short once again against a Red Sox team that is taking full advantage of an easy early schedule. In a tale of 2 seasons already, the soon-to-be Vegas A's are a dismal 1-5 to start the season, while the Sox are 4-2. After taking the first 2 of this series, the Red Sox are now 7-3 ML in their L10 against the A's and have picked up 3 wins in their L5 played in Oakland. Pivetta toes the hill for the Sox today and he owned the A's in his 2 meetings against them last season, posting a 2-0 mark and carrying a 1.64 ERA in 11 IP with a miniscule 0.64 WHIP and .108 BAA. He was even better against them in 2022 (2-0 / 0.60 ERA) and the A's are by far his favorite team in all of the MLB to face. Through 5 games (3 starts) in his career against Oakland, Pivetta is a perfect 5-0 with a 0.82 ERA, 0.61 WHIP and .087 BAA in 33 IP. In fact, he has only allowed 11 H and 2 ER (3 R) in those 33 innings of work. This one might be closer than expected, but the Red Sox should definitely have enough to get away with the W once again. Take the BOSTON RED SOX in the 1ST 5 INNINGS and the GAME.....
UNDER 9 TORONTO BLUE JAYS @ HOUSTON ASTROS (-120) (MLB)
** TOTAL OF THE DAY **
This one just seems a tad too high as these two teams come into today off two games featuring top quality pitching (at least on the Astros side for both) as Houston got a no-hitter two games ago and would have won a 1-0 shutout last night had they not given up 2 runs in the top of the 9th. Javier had a great first start to his season, and true to form, the youngster has dominated early in the season, posting a career mark of 6-1 in the opening month of April and held a 2.01 ERA in 62 2/3 IP. He also has a 0.93 WHIP and .157 BAA during the month. At home he is almost as equally dominant going 17-8 with a 2.80 ERA in his career on his home diamond. Take the UNDER in today's meeting....
