    #2
    Brian W. Spencer's Daily Picks

    Horseshoe Indianapolis - Race #5
#9 Inspired Fire She took cash in the debut when never really getting involved at 9/5, but she's back off the bench while still in special weights and probably has something better to show today.
#7 Who Not What Nothing to write home about from those first two starts here last fall, but the last one was at least a very mild improvement. Could see her grabbing a piece at a price.
#1 Galoshes Debuter brings a handful of Turfway drills with her for this one after prepping for a debut here last summer before they stopped on her. Get a look on the tote and track.
Race Summary Inspired Fire is likely capable of a better showing at second asking, as she raced that one time and didn't return to the tab until March of this year. Let's see if the action that day hinted at something more.
    Horseshoe Indianapolis - Race #6
#3 Linzer If he doesn't graduate today, he likely will soon enough when he gets back on the grass, and I think he's fast enough to sit a great trip right up near the top today. Capable.
#11 Smackdown Guessing he's going to take his fair share of the action in a race that doesn't feel like it has a ton of depth, so he might not have to be a real star to land it at first asking.
#4 Sharon's Prince The Turfway form is heading in the right direction and probably stacks up well enough here if he can transfer it to the dirt. Spying speed has a chance.
Race Summary Linzer has some form that fits well enough here, and he can probably turn in a better dirt effort than he did last time out.
    Horseshoe Indianapolis - Race #7
#11 Meadow Value Feel like there are a good number of sharp pace horses -- many racing fresh -- lined up in here. Might set things up for something from a touch off the splits. Better stuff might do.
#4 New Year's Fever He got past a few late on the turf in that last run before the layoff last summer, but his best game comes on the front end, and I think he's got company. Still, he's probably most likely of the pace to land this with a couple sharp scores and a decent enough stakes try on his page here last season.
#2 El Rosillo He has been one paced at Turfway in those last couple starts, but he was solid enough here last season to think he might be able to hug the fence and sneak past some of these.
Race Summary Meadow Value should be a decent enough price in here despite the fact that his isolated dirt form is actually pretty solid when you forgive him the stakes try. Interesting late?

      #3
      Frank Carulli's Daily Picks

Will Rogers Downs - Race #5
#2 TWO WORLDS (2-1) Make that three worlds – versatile, consistent and productive.
#5 SWEET MEDICINE (8-1) Awakened in second 2024 start to go 3-for-5 at track, projects ideal trip.
#3 RACE DAY REBAL (3-1) Buried weak field, gobbled up ground at 6F in the race prior to just miss.
Race Summary TWO WORLDS romped off the claim in his first start at Will Rogers, continuing his ultra-consistent ways spanning several tracks and distances. He put away the 5-2 second favorite on the turn, widened in the stretch and has plenty of back class to handle today’s class rise. Bet to win and place and play 2-3 and 2-5 exactas.
Will Rogers Downs - Race #6
#4 NORWAY BEACH (2-1) Improved at 2, useful try in comeback stakes, one to beat with speed and Lasix.
#6 STORMS LAST (5-1) Ran to workouts, drew off in-hand in maiden win after five months away.
#1 RED DIRT RICH (5-2) Has loyal following, broke maiden at distance, wears blinkers for first time.
Race Summary NORWAY BEACH, overhauled on the lead by even-money favorite Lake Bee (4-9, $72k) and others in the $75,000 Welder Stakes, looks formidable in this spot. He can make better use of his speed on the cutback to 5-1/2F and gets first-time Lasix. Bet to win and place and play 4-1 and 4-6 exactas.
Will Rogers Downs - Race #7
#1 CONNORS OUTLAW (5-2) Forgot to stop in stakes win, today’s Best Bet from the rail.
#2 THERIDEOFALIFETIME (3-1) Never headed, won last four starts by a combined 22-3/4 lengths.
#3 C W PRIZE (8-1) Gathered momentum on turn, leveled off while widest in stretch against top one.
Race Summary CONNORS OUTLAW was visually impressive in his first stakes victory, setting a fast pace, guided to the 3-path for the stretch drive and widening the lead with every stride. Take him to repeat from the rail as he looks to build on a 4-11 record at 6F and six-figure bankroll. Bet to win and place.

Will Rogers Downs - Race #4 - Post: 2:36pm - Maiden Special - 8.0 furlongs on the Dirt. Purse: $22,000 Class Rating: 76

            Rating:

            #2 COLE TRICKLE (ML=6/1)

COLE TRICKLE - This is a fairly classic handicapping angle. Play a pony that finished 2nd in a maiden race last time out but finished well clear of the third horse. Faces state bred foes today after finishing second versus 'open' company on Mar 9th. Young has an 'uncoupled' entry here. Best to beware the longer priced half.

            Vulnerable Contenders: #1 VIENNA PRIZE (ML=3/5), #7 BROWN RESERVE (ML=5/1), #4 SONIC POSSE (ML=6/1),

VIENNA PRIZE - This morning-line favorite ran on March 20th and hasn't had a workout since. Last effort was too good. Not too far of a reach to expect a 'performance bounce' today. BROWN RESERVE - This horse hasn't been close to the winner at the finish line lately. SONIC POSSE - This gelding finished out of the money on Dec 8th and wasn't close to victory last race out either.

STRAIGHT WAGERS: #2 COLE TRICKLE is the play if we get odds of 1/1 or better

THREE YEAR OLDS, 120 LBS.; OLDER, 125 LBS. NON-WINNERS OF A RACE AT ONE MILE OR OVER SINCE MARCH 16 ALLOWED 3 LBS. CLAIMING PRICE $50,000

              RECOMMENDED CHOICES
              # 7 RIDIN WITH BIDEN 2/1
              # 1 COUNTERSPY 3/1
              # 5 MARTINI MARTIN 5/1
I've got to go with RIDIN WITH BIDEN. Must be considered given the class of races run recently. Reid has this gelding racing well and is a very strong pick based on the respectable Speed Figures recorded in route races as of late. Carmouche has been on fire the last month, winning at a nifty 31 percent rate. COUNTERSPY - This gelding has been consistently racing well in his latest outings. Ought to be given a shot here on the basis of the numbers in the speed realm alone. MARTINI MARTIN - Has ran well in dirt route races. Always difficult to beat Mancilla and Cruz working together, winning 22 percent of their races.

Race 4 - Maiden Claiming - 5.5f on the Dirt. Purse: $18500 Class Rating: 58

FOR REGISTERED INDIANA BREDS SIRED BY REGISTERED INDIANA STALLIONS MAIDENS, THREE YEARS OLD AND UPWARD. THREE YEAR OLDS, 120 LBS.; OLDER, 124 LBS. CLAIMING PRICE $15,000.

                RECOMMENDED CHOICES
                # 6 ANDELE ANDELE 7/2
                # 2 GREEWHIZ 4/1
                # 9 TANEYCOMO 30/1
ANDELE ANDELE is my choice. This animal enters today's race on Lasix. The speed rating of 55 from his latest affair looks decent in here. Jockey's recent return on investment figures make this gelding a strong bet. GREEWHIZ - Might wake up with Lasix change (with second time Lasix) today. Garcia and Pedroza have won 20 percent of their races giving this animal a solid chance. TANEYCOMO - Might see a different pony here with the blinkers change.

                  Rating:

                  #7 CHARLIE'S BEACH (ML=9/2)

CHARLIE'S BEACH - When Diego and Thurman join forces on animals the return on investment has been wonderful at +138.

                  Vulnerable Contenders: #2 XPRESSIR (ML=3/1), #1 KEEP ATTACKING (ML=7/2), #6 IMMORAL (ML=4/1),

XPRESSIR - This runner hasn't been on the track since Mar 24th. Not even any drills. KEEP ATTACKING - This gelding is always in the money, but just doesn't win. Hard to wager on him on the top end. IMMORAL - This horse doesn't have a champion's attitude. Very often finishes close, but no cigar.
