    #2
    Brian W. Spencer's Daily Picks

Presque Isle Downs - Race #5
#1 Certain He steps up off a pair of really good races to start the season, and he figures in line for another cozy trip right near the splits from the inside draw.
#4 Blameitonmymomma Pace is typically all or nothing, but his better stuff would fit well here if he's able to flash his speed without taking too much early heat. Clear chance to wire them in a two-deep race for me.
#2 Colonel Poppy He makes enough sense, but I wouldn't want to be here at too short a number with form that produces a lot of competitive underneath finishes. Capable, but not much enthusiasm here for me today.
Race Summary Certain and Blameitonmymomma should both get good runs near the top, and I'm hoping the step up will keep the price just playable enough on the top choice.
Presque Isle Downs - Race #7
#1 Yellow Feathers She's probably going to be a short kind of price, but she can probably control the pace from the inside and see this out if she's ready to go off the bench.
#6 Italian Ivy Interested to see how she stacks up here after scoring nicely from off the pace with cheaper in the debut try at Turfway, as I don't think that race is all that far off some of these, and she might still have upside second time out.
#2 Red Wren I liked her a bit against similar last time out, but she was a bit underwhelming with a wide trip that day. Not totally sold that sprinting is her best game, but she is probably capable of a bounce-back effort with a better draw today.
Race Summary Yellow Feathers should be tough in here if she can come back running the way she left, and she draws well to use her pace to attack from the start in a race without much other serious speed.
Presque Isle Downs - Race #8
#3 I'm the Cabana Boy He made a decent bit of progress behind a super impressive winner in the debut run here last month, and he might be able to sustain that move better with that run under his belt. The price might still be OK.
#6 R Chello He outfinished a few of these, including the top choice, in that last one when second-best behind that easy winner, and his tactical pace should give him the jump again today. Capable.
#2 Outsider Get a look at her on the tote and track ahead of this, but she might be ready enough to land a share of this at first asking. Some appeal on paper.
Race Summary Fun race, but I think I'm the Cabana Boy might have the right kind of upside today off a debut running line that might have been a touch better than it looks at first glance. #10 Atrocious and #9 Imposter Syndrome both make sense.

      #3
      Frank Carulli's Daily Picks

      Fort Erie - Race #2
#1 ONE MORE RING (4-1) Returns home in ideal spot, seeks fourth win at Fort Erie.
#6 BRADY O’BRADY (8-1) Can top $100,000 in earnings at track, must use on all tickets.
#3 STORMY SOUL (5-2) Stablemate of top one can make good use of his speed in second start as 7yo.
Race Summary ONE MORE RING ran second at this level when he last raced at Fort Erie in the fall. He was beat 4 lengths by Ace Destroyer (13-46, $176k), who was embarking on a three-race winning streak. Bet to win and place and play 1-3 and 1-6 exactas.
      Fort Erie - Race #4
#6 ANARCHY (5-2) Had no breathers in comeback turf sprint victory, taken to repeat at same distance.
#5 BIG TIME LOUIE (9-2) Tries to carry over 29/10-4-5 record in first start on the lawn.
#8 SHAKOO MAKOO (4-1) Good first gear, unproven on turf, starts outside after eight months away.
Race Summary ANARCHY dueled from start to finish and dug in late to become the lone winner in this field in 2024. He’s 2-for-2 in short sprints on the turf and the pick to do it again. Bet to win and place.
      Fort Erie - Race #5
#9 ASHCAR NELLIE (8-1) Showed a pulse in the mornings at Woodbine, gets blinkers for debut.
#1 JIMMY IS A BREEZE (7-2) Hit board in 3 of 5 at this distance but she hasn’t won in 22 starts.
#2 ALWAY’S ROSIE (12-1) Worked forwardly but ran evenly in 5F return, price attached.
Race Summary ASHCAR NELLIE, the longer-priced of two first-time starters from the Patrick Dixon barn, prepped at Woodbine and need not be much to contend in this field. She gets blinkers, gets in light-weighted and gets the nod for a win and place bet and a 1-2-9 exacta box.

          PURCHASE

          Mountaineer Park - Race #5 - Post: 8:40pm - Claiming - 8.0 furlongs on the Dirt. Purse: $8,700 Class Rating: 84

          Rating:

          #6 CAROM (ML=8/1)
          #5 AVALON KING (ML=8/1)
          #1 HARD ASTRAY (ML=7/2)
          #7 LAUTREC (ML=4/1)

CAROM - This gelding is at the same 1 mile distance he won at on Dec 22nd, which was at a higher class level than today's contest. Earnings per start is something that I feel can be a very important factor. This thoroughbred is ranked numero uno in this group. AVALON KING - Winless in his last three starts, this gelding did win on Mar 13th at Turf Paradise versus tougher competition. This jockey and trainer's animals have been producing a favorable ROI. Always watch out for the longer priced horse when a trainer has an 'uncoupled' entry in a race. HARD ASTRAY - Has run good races in the first or second starts back off of a vacation. This jockey/trainer duo has been producing a very beneficial ROI, right at +168. Ran a less than stellar race at Mountaineer Park last time around the track. Racing with the benefit of a fast track puts this gelding at the top of my contenders list. LAUTREC - This gelding is in a good spot here. Is at the same distance he won at on March 25th. The May 13th event at Mountaineer Park was at a class level of (90). Dropping down in the class scale a significant amount, so he should be in a good position to win.

          Vulnerable Contenders: #2 SIGNOFTHECROSS (ML=7/5), #3 CHOPPED (ML=8/1),

SIGNOFTHECROSS - Hasn't been on the Mountaineer Park oval in the last few weeks. Cause for some concern. This runner just hasn't been winning as the favorite. CHOPPED - This horse hasn't been hitting the board in either of his last two efforts. When scrutinizing today's class rating, he will have to record a much better speed fig than last time out to vie in this dirt route.

STRAIGHT WAGERS: Have to go with #6 CAROM on the win end if we get at least 9/2 odds
          EXACTA WAGERS: Box [1,5,6]

Race 7 - Maiden Special Weight - 8.5f on the Turf. Purse: $36000 Class Rating: 69

FOR REGISTERED INDIANA BREDS MAIDENS, FILLIES AND MARES THREE YEARS OLD AND UPWARD. THREE YEAR OLDS, 120 LBS.; OLDER, 124 LBS. IF THIS RACE IS TAKEN OFF THE TURF, IT WILL BE RUN AT 1 MILE AND 1/16 ON THE MAIN TRACK.

            RECOMMENDED CHOICES
            # 2 UNAFRADE 15/1
            # 6 HEAVENLY RICH 3/5
            # 4 SHIPSHEWANA 10/1
I favor UNAFRADE for this event and the potential return justifies the dangerous nature of the long odds. With a formidable 57 average Equibase speed fig at the distance, seems well suited for today's competition. HEAVENLY RICH - She has been racing soundly lately while recording sharp Equibase Speed Figures. Is a key contender - given the 69 Equibase Speed Figure from her most recent race. SHIPSHEWANA - Will most likely compete solidly in the early pace clash which bodes well with this group. Recently Delacruz has been hot which may give the edge to this filly.

FanDuel Horse Racing - Race #4 - Post: 2:24pm - Optional Claiming - 8.0 furlongs on the Dirt. Purse: $13,500 Class Rating: 60

              Rating:

              #5 HIGHTAILING IT (ML=5/2)

HIGHTAILING IT - Have to give this filly a shot. Ran a sharp contest in the last race within the last month. A wise man taught me to bet on the lone speed horse. Take a look at this animal. This filly looks like a natural router, based on efforts in last 2 sprint races. A repeat of that most recent performance on May 25th where she registered a fig of 66 looks good enough to win in this race.

Vulnerable Contenders: #4 BACKSTAGE BAMBI (ML=2/1), #3 HER NAME WAS LOLA (ML=3/1), #2 LUTION (ML=7/2),

BACKSTAGE BAMBI - If you keep playing these kind of 'hanger' types, you're going to be dissatisfied frequently. LUTION - Pace makes the race and the scarcity of pace means this come from behinder will have to rally without any help. Tough to keep chasing this sort of 'bridesmaid' horse.

GUEST COMMENTARY: Winston - HIGHTAILING IT - This is an automatic bet for me. This filly is the top TM Power-rated racer and her rating towers over the rest.

STRAIGHT WAGERS: Go with #5 HIGHTAILING IT on top if we're getting at least 1/1 odds
              EXACTA WAGERS: 5 with [1,3]

                Race 8 - Claiming - 5.5f on the Dirt. Purse: $13700 Class Rating: 68

FOR THREE YEAR OLDS AND UPWARD WHICH HAVE NEVER WON TWO RACES. THREE YEAR OLDS, 119 LBS.; OLDER, 124 LBS. CLAIMING PRICE $5,000.

                RECOMMENDED CHOICES
                # 3 ZUCCARACE 4/1
                # 1A MACDONOUGH 3/1
                # 5 B C GLORY DAYS 6/1
ZUCCARACE looks solid to best this field. Should compete soundly in the pace contest which bodes well with this field. MACDONOUGH - Has a strong shot here if you like back class. Is difficult not to consider based on Equibase Speed Figs which have been very good - 57 avg - of late. B C GLORY DAYS - Will most likely come out solid - I have liked the way this gelding has moved sharply to the lead recently. Could beat this group given the 68 speed rating garnered in his last outing.
