The Knicks look like they're running out of gas, while Orlando will look to shake off the cobwebs after nearly getting clipped by the Grizzlies. Still, expect New York to command the pace. While Stan Van Gundy will have his hands to his head seeing all the points the Magic will give up, the presence of Dwight Howard inside and Orlando's excellent shooters will keep the Knicks at bay. The spread looks about right, but the total number looks very vulnerable to an over.

The playoffs have started for the Indiana Pacers - even though they might not be in them. They sit one game behind Charlotte for the eighth and final spot in the NBA East, so expect a playoff-like effort in this one. The Pacers have risen against the better teams in the NBA all season long, and they need to step up again here. The Pacers have roared as a road dog, as they are 7-2 ATS over their last nine played in that role. The old gambling adage, "the team in need, is the team indeed." applies to this one. I will back the Pacers to make a huge effort, and at least stay close here.

After beating the Mavs in 5 during last springs NBA playoffs, the Hornets continued their dominance over Dallas by winning the first two games of the season series this season.I'll expect that success to continue during this home and home stand with the Mavs - virtually a playoff series for the right to NOT PLAY the Lakers in the opening round.

Texas is going to be an excellent money making team for baseball bettors over the first month of the season. They have one of the best, if not the best, line-up in baseball and have already crushed opposing pitchers this season. They scored 29 runs in their series against Cleveland, and now they get to face a struggling Detroit bullpen. The Tigers bullpen is going to have significant problems while they wait for Joel Zumaya to return. Texas also has the advantage of getting a motivated Kris Benson to take the mound for the start. Benson hasn’t seen action since the 2006 season due to injuries and struggles. However, he appears to be over those problems and pitched well in Spring Training. I look for Texas to continue their momentum and hot hitting in this game. The Rangers have the vastly better line-up, and Detroit’s line-up hasn’t seen Benson’s stuff in almost three years. Look for the Tigers bullpen to get shelled in the last three innings, as they won’t let quality young starter Armando Gallaraga see extensive action in this game.
