4-Unit Play. Take #955 New York Mets -105 over Philadelphia Phillies (1:35pm.)
The Mets want and need this 3-game series really bad. They should be up to the challenge with John Maine on the mound. Maine has never lost to the Phillies. In nine career starts against them, he has a 5-0 record and a 2.54 ERA. He has a 2-0 record and 2.75 ERA at the Phillies smallish ballpark. Usually don’t like going with right-handers against Phillies left-handed lineup, but two of their left-handed sticks, Howard and Rollins are hitting .143 and .160 against Maine. His opponent today, Joe Blanton, is still looking for his first win of the season. His ERA is 8.41. He gave up eight hits and six earned runs in four innings in his last outing versus the Nationals.
3-Unit Play. Take #957 St. Louis Cardinals -125 over Washington Nationals (1.35pm.)
Kyle Lohse (3-0 1.97) is pitching well for the Redbirds. He also pitched very well against the Nats in’08. John Lannan for Washington has pitched well enough, but still doesn’t have a win. The Cardinals would like to finish this seven-game road trip on a positive note. After a day of rest, Albert Pujols is back in the lineup, and makes it possible. Cards are tied with the LA Dodgers with the best record in MLB, 17-8. Nationals have the worst record 6-17.
2-Unit Play. Take #975 Kansas City Royals +115 over Minnesota Twins (2:10pm.)
Royals just took 3 of 4 from Toronto. So why not 2 of 3 from the Twinkies? Gil Meche at “plus” money is a bargain. Meche has a 3.77 ERA. Minny will be the worst hitting team he has faced this year. His mound opponent, Baker, has an ERA of 9.82. The Royals pen is ranked 9th in the majors, while the Twins is ranked 25th.

3 Unit Pick. Take Over (5.5) Anaheim at Detroit (2:05 pm NBC) These two teams combined for 61 shots and 11 power play's in a 3-2 Red Wings game one win. I think these two teams will play a up tempo game in game two, in the four times they meet in the regular season they combined for 26 goal's in 12 periods of hockey. The game on Friday had every chance to go over and should have. Some teams tighten up in the playoffs, but for the most part these are two veteran hockey teams and I expect a loose fast paced game today.
2.5-Unit Play. Take ‘Under’ 9.0 Boston at Tampa Bay (1:30 p.m., Sunday, May 3)
Two very strong pitchers in Brad Penny and James Shields are on the mound today for a key game in this series. If the Red Sox win they get a split on the road and if Tampa wins it takes the series 3-1 and is up 5-2 on the Sox in their head-to-head this year. Both teams will play this one tight and after seeing a lot of runs the last few games between them this will be a lot lower scoring. Shields wants to make up for getting knocked around in Boston this year. He is always super sharp at home and I think he’ll have a big upper hand here.
1-Unit Play. Take Washington (+110) over St. Louis (1 p.m., Sunday, May 3)
I think that this Washington team is a little better than its record indicates and I think that they are desperate for wins. St. Louis has been kind of lackluster in this series. It is Sunday and I don’t think that they want to be playing this game so I think that will allow the underdog to sneak up on them. Kyle Lohse is not nearly as strong when he is throwing outside of St. Louis. I think that the big lefty bats of guys like Adam Dunn are going to get some good swings on him today and I think that the Nationals are going to split this series.

3-Unit Play. Take First Half #702 Denver (-3.5) over Dallas (3:30 p.m., Sunday, May 3)
This is a first half play. Denver has been outstanding at home these playoffs. The crowd in Denver hasn’t had a winner in a long time and they are getting behind this team. That is having a definite impact on the court as the Nuggets are just blowing teams out in “Mile High City”. I think that the Nuggets are going to get off to a fast start again today. I don’t want to take a chance of Dallas coming back in the second half after the “magic” wears off in the first half so we’re going to make the momentum play and look for Denver’s strong home play to continue.
1.5-Unit Play. Take #966 L.A. Dodgers (-1.5, -105) over San Diego (4 p.m., Sunday, May 3)
1.5-Unit Play. Take #957 St. Louis (-110) over Washington (1:30 p.m., Sunday, May 3)
1.5-Unit Play. Take #976 Minnesota (-120) over Kansas City (2 p.m., Sunday, May 3)
2-Unit Play. Take ‘Over’ 10.5 Chicago White Sox at Texas (8 p.m., Sunday, May 2)
1.5-Unit Play. Take ‘Over’ 9.0 Boston at Tampa Bay (1:30 p.m., Sunday, May 3)
1.5-Unit Play. Take ‘Over’ 10.0 L.A. Angels at N.Y. Yankees (1 p.m., Sunday, May 3)
NBA
3.5-Unit Play. Take 580 Atlanta (-5) over Miami (1 p.m., Sunday, May 3)
This is it, game seven in a series that has provided us with absolutely no drama. Now I don't see this game being a blowout but I do see the Hawks pulling away at the end to win by double digits. Now that Jermaine O'Neal is doubtful with a concussion, Miami's bench is extremely thin. This is not a good thing in the final game of a seven game series. The Hawks have been a great home pick all year, and this is their most important home game of this season thus far. Al Horford and Marvin Williams are both expected back, in limited roles, and that should be enough for Atlanta to put an end to this weird series. The team that has outrebounded their opponent has won each game of this series and with the return of two solid rebounders in Williams and Horford and the loss of O'Neal the Hawks should win the battle of the boards. Atlanta is a big fan of playing on the lord's day as they are 4-0 ATS on Sunday's. A big crowd always comes out to Philips on Sunday's and the will be extra loud today.
