    -=TOP PLAY=- MLB | May 10
Tampa Bay Rays vs. Boston Red Sox Tampa Bay Rays+115

Craig's Free Plays have been down right frigid lately but his premium picks have still been coming thru for his diamond team players. Make sure you get in with Craig today as he has his strongest NBA play of the post season thus far!! Lets look at Craig's late ESPN MLB Free play: trends, records, and winning breakdown!!

    Records

Tampa Bay Rays 15-17, 9-10 away (Garza 3-2, 3.51 ERA)

Boston Red Sox 19-12, 12-4 home (Beckett 3-2, 6.75 ERA)

    Betting Trends

Rays are 6-1 in their last 7 games as an underdog

Rays are 4-1 in their last 5 overall.

Red Sox are 16-5 in their last 21 games on grass.

Rays are 6-0 in Garzas last 6 starts vs. Red Sox.

Rays are 6-2 in the last 8 meetings.

TB is coming off a huge win where they blew Boston out of the water early and often winning going away 14-5. Longoria and Crawfords hot bats carried them to another beat down of there division rivals. Longoria looks like a lock for MVP this season with 44 RBI's and 11 HR's. Almost half of his RBI's and HR's have come at the expense of this Boston team so to say he likes playing Boston is a huge understatement!! If that was not good enough to convince you to take the visiting underdogs they have Garza on the mound tonight. Garza is 5-0 with a 1.37 ERA in his last six starts against Boston, including two wins during the ALCS. In the last three, Boston has managed seven hits in 21 2-3 innings versus Garza (3-2, 3.51 ERA). For Boston Beckett will try and slow down this hot TB team but will have no luck as he gets rocked early and often. SCORE TB 9 - BOS 2

              Sunday's Play

              5 Dime Run Line Release

Philadelphia (Myers) -1 1/2 Runs over Atlanta (Kawakami)

I'm well aware of the fact that Brett Myers has struggled this season, pitching much worse than his 2-2 record indicates as he's allowed 58 baserunners in 37 innings. Plus, he's served up 10 homers already - including three to the Braves in a season-opening loss - to contribute to an unsightly 5.35 ERA. But, this is a guy who pitched so poorly early last season as he tried to make the transition back from reliever to starter that he needed to be exiled to the minor leagues. However, upon his return, he was one of the most dominant pitchers in the majors. And that's the key with Myers; he's one of those guys who when the light goes on, he pitches lights-out ball. After seven mediocre to poor outings, he's facing a light-hitting Atlanta line-up that he could and should dominate today.

The Braves send Japanese-import Kenshin Kawakami to the mound. After winning his major league debut against Washington, the righthander has lost four straight starts. Casual observers will tell you he pitched better in his last outing against the Mets, holding New York to two runs and eight hits over five innings. On the surface that's a major improvement versus the 8.04 ERA he compiled in his previous three outings. But, the fact is he needed 113 pitches to labor through those five innings against the Mets and lost anyway. For the season he's allowed 46 baserunners in just 26.2 innings and now faces one of the major's most dangerous hitting teams in one of the major's toughest ballparks to pitch in.

Much like Friday when I was tempted to play the Yankees on the Money Line before settling on backing them and C.C. Sabathia as a Run Line release in an eventual 4-0 win over Baltimore, the same thought crossed my mind here as the Phillies at the time I posted this play were only around a -140 favorite. But, I've got to think that price is going to go up as the first pitch approaches, nearing at least 150. Since I feel Myers is going to stifle Atlanta's bats while the Phils batter Kawakami, I'm instead opting to lay the - 1 1/2 runs and play Philadelphia on the Run Line.

Pittsburgh Pirates vs. New York Mets Pittsburgh Pirates+150

Ai Simulator 3* graded play on the Pirates as they face the Mets. Supporting this graded play is a strong system that has posted a 32-12 making 31.6 units since 2003 and is already 2-0 making 2.7 units this season. Play against all favorites with a money line of -125 to -175 and with good defensive catchers allowing 0.5 or less SB's/game on the season and after scoring 7 runs or more 3 straight games. Mets are just 12-22 (-19.6 Units) against the money line versus a poor bullpen whose WHIP is 1.550 or worse over the last 3 seasons; 17-25 (-18.9 Units) against the money line vs. an NL starting pitcher whose ERA is 4.20 to 4.70 over the last 3 seasons. Take the Pirates.

                        40 DIMER - LA LAKERS

OK, I have seen enough of this series to know that with a healthy Yao Ming, the Rockets maybe have a chance, without Yao, the Rockets have no shot at holding off the Lakers, even on their home floor.

Los Angeles has righted their ship after their Game One loss, with wins and covers in the last 2 games. Overall LA is now 6-1 both straight up, and against the spread this season against Houston.

The Derek Fisher suspension has been served, and in his place Jordan Farmer stepped up to give the Lakers a solid contribution in a rare start. That can only help Phil Jackson's bench this Sunday afternoon.

Expect Los Angeles to deliver the death blow, and take this series back to the City of the Angels up 3 to 1 with the easy road win, and cover.

10 DIMER - SAN FRANCISCO GIANTS (Lincecum over Weaver)

Tim Lincecum is starting to round into form. The Cy Young winner has reeled off 3 straight wins, and I like him today to outpitch the untested Jeff Weaver who is making just his 2nd start of the campaign.

Lincecum has already dumped the Dodgers once this year, working 7 innings of 3 run ball, and after his teammates were shutout on 4 hits yesterday, you expect the bats to get things started against Weaver today.

LA is just 1-2 since Manny was suspended, and today they go down to defeat once again.

Take Lincecum to continue with his hot hand!

After getting crushed 12-5 Saturday, expect the Yanks to come storming back as they have a huge advantage on the mound with Chamberlain against Uehara. First off, Baltimore is 5-24 against the money line when playing on Sunday over the last 2 seasons and 14-42 against the money line in day games over the last 2 seasons. The Orioles are 0-4 in Uehara's last 4 starts while the Yankees are 4-1 in Chamberlain's last 5 starts during game 3 of a series and 9-4 in Chamberlain's last 13 starts as a favorite. Bet the Yanks.

I'll take the Twins showing great value in the home underdog role against the struggling Mariners, who have lost 6 in a row. While Bedard is off to a good start this season, he is s 0-5 when starting against Minnesota with an ERA of 4.91 and a WHIP of 1.710. The Twins have murdered lefties at home, going 22-5 against the money line in home games against left-handed starters over the last 2 seasons. Bet the Twins Sunday.

With Yao Ming out, the Rockets are without their No. 1 offensive option and their best rebounder. This forces the Rockets to be a more perimeter oriented team and that will not play to their favor here. Expect LA to smell blood this afternoon so they can have the opportunity to close out this series at home in Game 5. Houston is just 2-14 ATS revenging a loss where its opponent scored 100 or more points this season. The Lakers are 6-1 ATS in the last 7 meetings and 9-2 ATS in the last 11 meetings in Houston. Lay the number.

Without Yao Ming in the lineup, I expect the pace of Game 4 to really pick up, which makes this a strong Overs opportunity. The Over is 4-1 in Rockets last 5 games following a SU loss of more than 10 points and 5-2 in Rockets last 7 playoff games as an underdog. The Over is 6-1 in Lakers last 7 games following a ATS win, 5-1 in Lakers last 6 Conference Semifinals games, and 6-2 in Lakers last 8 games following a SU win of more than 10 points. The Over gets the call today.
