The Angels are one of the hottest teams in baseball, winning 6 of their last 7 games overall, aided by a team batting average of .310 and a scoring average of over 7 runs per game on this current stretch. As a basis of comparison, the Royals are 1-6 over their last 7 games, averaging 4.1 runs per game and hitting just .253 as a team. You can clearly see these are two teams heading in different directions. Sidney Ponson hasn't pitched for the Royals since May, but don't expect him to wow you in his return appearance. Ponson was just 1-4 with a 5.92 ERA in 6 starts before hitting the disabled list. The Angels send Sean O'Sullivan to the mound, and even though he only has 4 starts this season, I have much more confidence in him than I do in Ponson. O'Sullivan is 2-0 on the season with a 3.80 ERA and 1.35 WHIP, including a 2.08 ERA and 1.08 WHIP on the road. As a matter of fact, the Angels are 4-0 in his four appearances this year. Obviously that can't keep up forever, but the Angels are playing great ball right now and they should provide him with more than enough support.
15* on Minnesota Twins -120
I'm backing the Twins and Nick Blackburn tonight at Oakland. Blackburn has been sharp all season, earning an 8-4 record with a 3.06 ERA and 1.28 WHIP. Over his last 3 starts, Blackburn has allowed a total of 7 earned runs in 22 innings pitched, giving him an ERA of 2.86 over that stretch. The A's will counter with Gio Gonzalez, who has just 3 starts on the season and who has not earned a win pitching in Oakland in two starts there. So far he is 0-2 with a 7.27 ERA and 2.42 WHIP. I also like that the Twins have been hot offensively, averaging 6 runs per game over their last 7 games, helping them to win 3 of their last 4 overall.

WHITE SOX PK FOR A 1000 DIME SELECTION
Take the Brewers for the road win tonight over the Pirates.
It’s hard to believe the Pirates are the chalk here. They have lost 17 straight to Milwaukee and it’s not like they’re sending an All Star to the mound tonight.
Plus it’s not like the Buccos have been competitive in these matchups. The Brewers have outscored them 111-49 in those 17 games and have scored 32 runs in winning all five meetings this year.
The Bucs have dropped 12 of their last 17 overall and their offense has gone into the tank, scoring three runs or fewer in six of their last seven.
With the dominance Milwaukee has exhibited in this matchup I just can’t see how the Bucs are favored. I know they’re due and it’s at PNC Park, but until the Pirates can win one game I’m going against them at this price.
Tampa Bay at Chicago White Sox 8:11pm EST
Selection: CHICAGO -110
Profile: Gavin Floyd has given up five runs in his last two outings, but he is still in good current form. He did not pitch as bad as those two starts indicate. I look for a stellar performance from Floyd in this game, since he will be pitching at home, where he has been dominant throughout his career. Floyd has given up five earned runs total in his last five home starts this season. In addition, he pitched very well at Tampa Bay earlier this season, giving up only two earned runs while striking out seven batters over seven innings. Meanwhile, he will be facing Tampa Bay starter David Price, who has been inconsistent all season. He has given up eleven earned runs in his last two road starts this season, and I look for him to have a down performance in this road game as well. Chicago hits lefties very well, including lately. Over their last ten games the White Sox are hitting .324 against lefties, including .285 on the season. Look for Chicago to get the home win behind a strong performance from Floyd.
2 UNIT SELECTION
Arizona at Colorado 8:40pm EST
Selection: COLORADO -1.5 +150
Profile: Arizona's starter Doug Davis' results this season haven't been a good indicator of his true performance. He has been lucky to face several weak line-ups this season, such as San Diego and San Francisco three times each, Kansas City, Washington, Kansas City, and Seattle. Davis did face Colorado in his first start of the season, giving up four earned runs while only lasting five innings. In addition, he walked four batters in that start. Davis has a WHIP ratio of 1.43 on the season, but he has allowed 1.90 base runners per inning over his last three starts. He should struggle mightily in this game, as Colorado hits .315 against lefties at home. Meanwhile, Arizona only hits .197 against lefties on the road, so Colorado left hander should have good success against Arizona's weak hitting line-up. In addition, De La Rosa shut out Arizona over eight innings just a few weeks ago at home. Look for Colorado to hammer Arizona at home.
3 UNIT SELECTION
The White Sox are revenging their playoff loss last year to the Rays in their first home game against them since then. The White Sox took 3 out of 4 games in Tampa earlier this season and they should have won both if their bullpen did not blow the one game. The Pitching matchup in this game is Floyd (7-6 4.44 ERA) vs. Price (3-3 4.70 ERA). Floyd is 3-2 with a 2.55 ERA at home this season and in his one game he pitched against the Rays he gave up 2 ER in 6 innings pitched. Price is 0-2 his last 2 games on the road getting shelled for 11 runs in 8.1 innings pitched in Colorado and in Texas. The Rays are coming off a 3 game sweep of the lowly KC team in which they came from behind to win all 3 of those games. I don’t see that happening with the White Sox pen whom is one of the top bullpens in the AL this year. I believe we are getting some good value on the home team today in the White Sox to win this game.
