WEAVER IS HAVING A GREAT YEAR. 10-3 WITH AN ERA OF 3.48. HIS TEAM HAS WON 13 OF HIS 19 STARTS. HE IS 2-1 LIFETIME AGAINST THE TWINS AND IS 7-1 AT HOME THIS YEAR. HE HAS ALSO WON HIS LAST 2 STARTS AND WILL WIN TONIGHT. BAKER HAS BEEN 500 ALL YEAR. HIS TEAM HAS WON 9 OF HIS 18 STARTS WITH AN ERA OF 5.10. OUR EDGE HERE IS THAT BAKER IS 0-4 LIFETIME AGAINST THE ANGELS AND HE WILL GET THE ROAD L TONIGHT.
75,000* MONSTER PUP!
Your winner here is on the Twins!
Jered Weaver can be very good and the Angels over the past few months have really picked things up for sure but to get a quality hurler in Scott Baker along with a pair of studs in Joe Mauer and Justin Morneau along with a solid well coached Minnesota club plus this number is an absolute no-brainer.
The Angels are still a banged up club I don't care if they have been winning a ton even without Guerrero and Hunter. It will catch up to them at some point and after just playing that doubleheader in Kansas City on Tuesday and another game on Wednesday fatigue could be a bit of an issue for tonight's homeboys. Mike Scioscia's club has won game after game unlike Ron Gardenhire's who have been losing and just did so in horrific fashion 16-1 on Wednesday. But this is baseball and results like that if anything help the next time out as it's not that much of a momentum sport at all.
Anaheim is a quality team that can kill you with small ball thanks to guys like Figgins and Kendrick and Aybar and Morales and others. But plus money with former MVP Morneau is just too good to pass up.
Look for Baker to continue some recent success and get the ball to Joe Nathan in a well pitched quality ballgame involing two good clubs that play ball the right way. It's not like Weaver has been at his best at all of late making him more vulnerable than at other times in his career. The righty has now allowed 27 ER in his last 33.1 IP. I don't need to tell you how that is not very good.
If this game was a pick I would still probably back the Twinkies, even with these clubs going in somewhat opposite directions, that tells me all I need to know!
