    1000* - Kansas City w/Greinke over Rowland-Smith, 500* - Arizona w/Haren over Rodriguez

It seems like the only time the Royals win these days is when All-Star Zack Greinke is on the mound.

Greinke is 2-1 his last 4 starts, and is fresh off a brilliant 8 inning win over Cleveland in which he allowed 2 runs on 5 hits, while fanning a whopping 15 batters.

The Mariners have certainly made the most of their current homestand which will see the front-running Angels visit starting tomorrow, but this is the spot they come up flat.

Grienke's last 2 starts against Seattle shows 16 innings of 1 run ball for a 2-0 mark. I have a feeling the Mariners are going to struggle this afternoon against Greinke's stuff.

Ryan Rowland-Smith has cooled off a little of late, and his start against the Royals on August 4th shows 4 runs allowed in 4 innings of no-decision work.

Have to back the Royals to leave the Northwest with the Sunday "W".

    1000? - Kansas City w/Greinke over Rowland-Smith

???NOTE: Both listed starters must start, or no action on the play!???

With a 2.07 ERA at home this year, I think we have some solid value with Arizona this Sunday afternoon.

No doubt Wandy Rodriguez has been stellar for the Astros, but look at his splits; 7-2 with a 1.73 at Minute Maid Park, 5-6 with a 3.95 ERA everywhere else.

Today Rodriguez happens to be "everywhere else", and with the way the D-Backs have been taking care of business this weekend, I have to believe Haren has a 13th win all lined up.

Haren is 2-0 his last pair of starts against the Astros, including a complete game effort that saw just 1 run score.

Rodriguez is 0-2 the last 2 times he has started against the Snakes, allowing 9 runs in just 7 frames of work.

Lay it with Haren and 'Zona this Sunday.

    500? - Arizona w/Haren over Rodriguez

100? ARIZONA DIAMONDBACKS - The Snakes have looked tremendous offensively, outscoring Houston 23-7 in winning the first two contests of this three-game series. Tonight they keep the momentum alive to win #4 in a row. The Diamondbacks have been the Achilles Heel for the Astros, who have lost 10 of the last 13 meetings in the desert.

The Snakes are on a 17-8 run in their last 25 games when installed as the chalk, and should be in good shape with Danny Haren toeing the slab.

I know Wandy Rodriguez has been one of the hottest pitchers in baseball, but most recently he is 1-2 in his last three starts with a 5.21 ERA. That won't bode well against hot-hitting Arizona today.

Play the Snakes, as I look to turn this thing around!

                        20* No-Doubt Rout on Minnesota Twins -135

Jump on the Twins over the Rangers on Sunday. Minnesota starter, Scott Baker has been a consistent winner for the Twins all season, and he's red hot lately, winning all 3 of his last 3 starts while earning a 2.11 ERA and 0.84 WHIP. Meanwhile, Rangers' starter Kevin Millwood has never beaten the Twins in his career, posting an 0-7 record with a 6.18 ERA in 11 starts against them, which includes one loss to Minnesota earlier this month. This series is split 1-1 so far, but I fully expect the Twins to end the set with a victory.

                            NFL Preseason GOY.

2 Unit Play. Take Over 38.5 between the Chicago Bears @ Denver Broncos (Sunday @ 8pm est). This game will have a regular season game type atmosphere. Given the off-season hooplah and drama, both teams will get an early look as to how they have fared since the trade. Granted, it is way too early to tell which team has fared better overall. Only time will tell. Nevertheless, this is the only game that is slated for Sunday and certainly emotions will be high as Cutler faces his old team in his old stadium and Orton faces his old team who comes to visit. And, bear in mind that there are many coaches and executives who took part in this deal so emotions will be high and all involved will want to show their best. Someone who was not at their best in their last contest was Kyle Orton. Orton struggled terribly at Seattle throwing 1 touchdown but four interceptions as Denver fell short 13-27. Cutler played well for the most part against the Giants at home throwing for nearly 200 years and one touchdown with one interception. Given that Cutler faces his old team, Orton faces his old team, Orton comes off a miserable performance, and this is the only game on Sunday - a night game at that, I expect there to be plenty of offense on display. More importantly, I expect for all involved to go for the win despite this game meaning nothing in the regular season win count - but it goes a long way for early pride. I look for both teams to top 20 points as this game likely goes over.

“2 UNIT” PRIMETIME FOOTBALL (Broncos -2 at home versus Bears in a 8:05 eastern kickoff broadcast on NBC-TV):

One has to wonder why winless and banged up Denver would be cast as a favorite even though this is their preseason home opener. The reason why NBC decided to broadcast tonight’s game on a national level is that Chicago quarterback Jay Cutler is making his grand return to Denver where he already has verbally slammed Broncos fans and will be booed heavily. New Denver head coach Josh McDaniels had the audacity to check into other available quarterbacks early in the summer which angered Cutler and ultimately led him to a “forced” trade to Chicago in exchange for Bears signal caller Kyle Orton. To make a long story short Denver fans attending early Bronco training camp practices were not impressed with Orton whose arm is not nearly as strong as that of the now departed Cutler. Those same Bronco fans already have been calling for reserve Chris Simms to take over as the team’s #1 signal caller. Basically this preseason home opener tonight is a chance for Orton to PROVE himself not only to local fans but to the entire nation as well. Tonight is also a huge chance for new head coach McDaniel to prove that he has not already “lost” his football team which has had its share of adversity. Not only did Cutler clash with his new head coach leading to an ouster, wide receiver Brandon Marshall was just suspended for the remainder of the preseason due to insubordination so the NBC announcers are going to have a lot to talk about tonight. As mentioned earlier one has to wonder why the oddsmakers would cast Denver as a favorite considering a recent INJURY bug that will force running backs Knowshon Moreno and Lamont Jordan to the SIDELINES tonight. Chicago comes in as an underdog even though they supposedly have the superior starting quarterback and are coming off an impressive 17-3 home victory against a very deep New York Giants squad. My database research indicates that Chicago is a horrible 2-12 ATS the last fourteen times they have come off a preseason victory in front of the “home” fans. Meanwhile Denver is on a 11-1 ATS roll when posting a below .500 exhibition record and 11-2 ATS/HOME when off a preseason outright defeat.
