Dominic Fazzini Friday's play 10 Dime -- Boise State (minus points vs. FRESNO STATE)

The Broncos and the Bulldogs have clearly been the class of the Western Athletic Conference in recent history, but when it comes to their head-to-head series, Boise State has been dominant. And I don't see that changing tonight.

The Broncos have won eight of nine games against Fresno State, and covered in seven of those eight wins. The favorite when these teams meet has covered seven straight times.

The Bulldogs are coming off of a crushing 34-31 loss in double overtime at Wisconsin in which they led 21-7. They did cover, however, as an 8-point underdog.

Boise State has been impressive with a season-opening 19-8 home win over Oregon, in which it was a 3 1/2-point favorite, and a 48-0 victory Saturday over Miami of Ohio as a 38 1/2-point home favorite.

Boise State has been tearing it up ATS against all opponents, going 5-0 overall, 5-1 on the road, 4-1 in September, 4-1-1 in WAC games, 10-3 in Friday night games and 43-20-1 when it covers in its previous game.

Fresno State, on the other hand, is 11-30 ATS overall, 5-16 at home, 3-9 in September, 6-20 in WAC games, 1-7 on Friday nights and 3-23 after a straight-up loss.

The Broncos are on a mission to earn a BCS bowl bid, and I think they should have no problem moving closer to that goal tonight. Take Boise State to cover the points.

        SAM CLAYTON
        25 DIME - KC/CHW UNDER 9
As a loyal White Sox fan that lives and dies with this team, it pains me to say that it's officially time to label this season as a failure. There were some serious strides taken for 2010 with the impressive play of Gordon Beckham and the acquisitions of Jake Peavy and Alex Rios, but this team has absolutely no confidence. They were in a perfect position to gain some serious ground as the first place Tigers dropped 7 of their last 10 games, but Chicago gained only game in the standings thanks to a 2-4 mark on their West Coast road trip. And to make things worse, two of those losses came in the ninth inning or later.
The South Siders find themselves in yet another tough spot Friday after losing a 14-inning game last night that completely sucked the wind out of their sails. The Sox will have boarded a flight well after midnight and they won't hit the hay until the wee hours of the night. It'd be hard for any team to be excited about getting ready for a game the very next day, let alone a team that's pressed against the wall and fading fast in the division title race. I really believe the Sox come out dragging their feet tomorrow and not just because of the tired legs and the jetlag -- but because they know they're finished. Motivation is everything in baseball and right now Chicago lacks so much of it.
I believe we're in for a pitchers' duel tomorrow night with two solid pitchers in Mark Buehrle and Luke Hochevar squaring off. Starting with Buehrle, the southpaw has been lights out his last three starts, compiling a 1-1 record to go along with a 2.25 ERA over that span. And in three starts against the Royals in 2009, Buehrle is 1-0 with a 3.38 ERA. Hochevar on the other hand has been rather hit-or-miss at times, but I like his odds against a depleted Chicago offense that seems to not give two shits about anything anymore. When he's on top of his game, the former No. 1 overall selection is lights out and the Sox saw a glimpse of that last August when he held them to three runs over seven innings.
These two offenses are in no way, shape or form known for their offensive prowess. In fact, Chicago and Kansas City rank 12th and 13th respectively in the American League (14 teams) in runs scored. The under in this series has cashed in 9 of 14 games this season and 5 of 6 at Comiskey Park. I expect a low scoring affair to the fullest and would be shocked to see more than eight runs scored.

The Dodgers have the definite edge on the hill tonight with Padilla going against Sanchez. Sanchez is 0-4 lifetime against LA with an ERA of 5.86 and a WHIP of 1.613 and the Giants are 0-6 in his last 6 starts vs. the Dodgers. Plus, the Giants are only 2-12 in his road starts this season and 4-17 in his last 21 road starts. One more strong factor going against him is that the Dodgers are at their best against lefty pitching, hitting .271 and scoring 5.1 runs per game against southpaw starters this season. The Dodgers are a perfect 4-0 in Padilla's starts since he joined the club, during which he has posted an ERA of just 2.01. The Giants are 10 games under .500 on the road while LA has been one of the best home teams in baseball all season. Take the Dodgers.

Bobby Maxwell Friday's winner... 200-Unit WAC E-Z Winner - BOISE STATE

Boise State is on a mission to get back to a BCS bowl game and I don't see Fresno State getting in the way of that tonight. The Broncos are definitely the play, so go ahead and lay the chalk.

The Broncos opened the season with a 19-8 home win over the Pac-10's Oregon squad, cashing as a 3.5-point home favorite. Then on Saturday they killed Miami of Ohio 48-0 as a 38.5-point favorite. So they showed there was no letdown after beating the team from the bigger conference. There won't be a letdown all season for these kids. They are well coached and definitely focused on the bigger picture of getting to a BCS game.

Boise State has won three straight and eight of nine against Fresno State, covering in seven of the last eight matchups. The favorite is on a 7-0 ATS run in this series and look for Boise to make it eight straight when the final gun sounds on this one.

QB Kellen Moore is more than getting it done for the Broncos, throwing for 504 yards, five TDs and just one INT. He's managing the game much better this year and you can see that he is the leader of the offense. He's also got a very nice, young, speedy target at WR in Titus Young who had 114 yards receiving and two TDs against Miami on Saturday.

Fresno State lost a heartbreaker in Wisconsin on Saturday, falling 34-31 in double-overtime. The Bulldogs looked great in the first half, up 21-7 and getting three TD passes from QB Ryan Colburn. Then in the second half Colburn threw three INTs and they looked completely lost. Colburn is too much of a crap-shoot and has the ability to make the big play or the bone-head play.

Boise State is on ATS runs of 5-0 overall, 5-1 on the road, 4-1 in September and 4-1-1 in WAC action. Meanwhile Fresno is a disaster at the betting window, going 11-30 ATS overall, 5-16 ATS at home and 6-20 ATS in WAC games.

I love Boise in this one. Lay the chalk and play the Broncos on the road as this one ends up 35-24.

              Chris Jordan Friday Night winners
100? FLORIDA MARLINS (LIST Bailey) - I've committed myself to find value everytime Homer Bailey steps on the rubber for Cincinnati. And I don't mean value with him, I mean going against him - every single time. This is the perfect opportunity to do so, as the Marlins are looking to remain in wild-card contention, and are in the perfect spot to do so this weekend opposing a much weaker Reds team. The Fish, who I know have lost 11 of their last 14 against Cincy, won two straight and the series against St. Louis and should have the momentum to keep it going against Bailey, who is 5-5 with a 5.56 ERA this season.

100? UNDER Boise State/Fresno State - Only one way to stop Boise's machine, and that's to match wits defensively. And that'll be Fresno's key tonight when these two lock up in an early-season WAC clash. Fresno will be confident since it hung pretty tough with Wisconsin last week, and it'll take a load of confidence to hang with the 10th ranked Broncos, who have stymied their first two opponents with a smothering defense of their own ... including preseason darling Oregon. But the Bulldogs won't be thinking about what Boise has done this season, not when they will be thinking about last year's meeting in Boise, where the Broncos administered a 61-10 beatdown. Boise State has won seven of eight meetings with Fresno since joining the WAC in 2001 with the only loss coming in 2005 ,but the games have always been closer in Fresno. And make note, the Broncos have never played Fresno this early and it's probably not to their advantage since the Dawgs are healthy and have a solid team this season. I don't want to be on either side, but I do know it's going to be a physical game that should stay low.

100? OAKLAND ATHLETICS - Don't mean to repeat myself, but once again I am playing crap teams at the end of a season, something I don't necessarily like doing. Once again the A’s look damn good today. Aside from the losing slumps Cleveland is mired in – it is 3-14 overall and 2-8 in its last nine at Oakland – the Athletics are in off a bit of momentum after sweeping three in Arlington and winning the series-opener over the Tribe last night. The A’s have won four straight and nine of 11 – including six of eight on the road – and are now in the comforts of home, where they’ve won seven of 10. Bad news for the Indians, who have scored three or fewer runs in six of their last 10 games and managed to rake just six hits Thursday. Plus, making matters worse for Cleveland, it has lost eight in a row on

Glenn McGrew's NATIONAL LEAGUE GAME of the YEAR! - FRIDAY

At 10:10pm, my NL GOY call is on the LA Dodgers. The Los Angeles Dodgers, in firm control of the NL West, 11 games in front second-place Colorado, plays host to the San Francisco Giants on Friday night. LA has manhandled it's division rival this year, taking 9 of 15 in the season-series, outscoring San Francisco 86-52. Vincente Padilla (11-6, 4.42), an excellent pick up from the Texas Rangers, will start the series opener. The 32-year old righthander has had four starts in Dodger blue, going 3-0 with a minuscule 2.01 ERA, with his last start being a brilliant 9-1 win over these same Giants, as he allowed just 3 hits and 1 earned run in six dominating innings of work. San Francisco, just 3-5 over their last eight games, has now fallen three and one half games back of Colorado in the NL wild card race. Their choice to start game one of this three-game series will be Jonathan Sanchez (6-12, 4.16). While Sanchez has decent numbers vs most National League teams, he continued to struggle against the Dodgers last Saturday, allowing five runs in 4 1/3 innings in a 9-1 Giants defeat. That setback moved his record to a dismal 0-4 with a 5.86 ERA in seven career starts against Los Angeles, including 0-2, 9.00 in two starts at Dodger Stadium! Edges abound everywhere in this matchup, with the hosts owning the better starter, the better bullpen, the better offense and momentum. Play LA And, as always, Good Luck.....Glenn McGrew
