Nice match up here at the Poinsettia Bowl. The two teams have combined for 12 consecutive bowl wins. We also know how seriously Utah takes bowl games after their demolition of Alabama last year in a BSC Sugar Bowl match up. It was Utah's 8th straight bowl win Cal doesn't lose bowl games either so this should be a good match up. The two QB's are good as well with Cal's Kevin Riley showing more inconsistency than his counterpart Jordan Wynn, who will also be playing in front of his hometown fans as he was a two time State champion from San Diego. Utah will be without it's best offensive player Jahvid Best who never returned from one of the more scarier head injuries in recent memory. But Cal is always deep at RB so that will not hurt them too bad but Best is worth at least a point and a half on offense and a point on STs. Utah is as balanced as they get however boasting a 1000 yard rusher and a 1000 yard receiver. The Utes are always quick and they always come to play. The Utes own the nations 6th best pass defense as well, and they hold their opposition QB to a mere 50% completion percentage. They have three losses on the season and they were to #4 TCU, #7 ORE. and # 14 BYU. Now also don't forget that we have a common opponent between these two teams. Utah lost to Oregon by 7, while Oregon defeated Cal by 39!!! Utah also held Jeremiah Masoli of Oregon to 25% completion and less than 100 yards in their meeting earlier in the year. The PAC 10 is definitely a little on the down side this year as well. Under dogs have been doing very well recently in bowl games so until we see a definite reversal of this trend we will continue to ride the train, especially with some good teams in that role.
