Red Dog Sports (Playbook, Nothcoast Community Line)

Won 5* last night on Brown/Columbia under 129.5

    3* ODU/VCU under 132.5
ODU played poorly last Saturday at Northeastern and allowed the Huskies to shoot over 60% and ended up losing 74-64. I have had success playing VCU overs on the road in the last 3 years but today's game looks like an under. The last two year's at VCU the scores were 61-53 (114 points) and 61-44 (105 points). VCU has played some high scoring games at home but did play a 62-57 (119) game vs. Northeastern. Look for a game that finishes in the 120's that goes under.

Old Dominion had its eight-game winning streak snapped last week at Northeastern as it fell by 10 points to the Huskies. The Monarchs did bounce back at home against William & Mary on Wednesday as it won by 19 points in a game was closer than the final score indicates. Playing on the road has been a roller coaster this season for Old Dominion who comes in with a 6-4 record in road games. Included in that record was a huge win at Georgetown and that is looking more and more of simply a bad game for the Hoyas than a good game for the Monarchs. The other five road victories came against William & Mary, who is having a solid season, but the other four came against teams ranked 278th, 264th, 186th and 230th. As a comparison, VCU comes into this game ranked 64th. Obviously this is a big game for the Monarchs to keep pace at the top of the standings but it may not matter as this is just as big of a game for the Rams as well. VCU comes in riding a three-game winning streak as well as wins in seven of its last eight games so it is definitely riding some momentum. The Rams are two games behind the three-team logjam in first place in the CAA so a win here will at least push it closer with five games left in conference action. Three of those are on the road and two are against Old Dominion and George Mason so protecting its home court is a must this late in the season. First place may be out of the question but right now it is about conference seedings as well as byes and early round games against lower ranked teams are of the utmost importance. The top four seeds receive byes in the CAA Tournament. The Rams are 11-1 at home this season with the lone loss coming against Northeastern and as a matter of fact, VCU is 24-2 in its last 26 home games with both of those losses coming against the Huskies so that tells me there have been matchup issues. That should not be the case here as VCU, despite being ranked 23 spots lower in the power rankings, have advantages in several important categories. Namely, offensive efficiency, free throw shooting and assist/turnover ratio, three of the biggest ones in my opinion. The Rams have an offensive efficiency rating of 113.2 which is top in the conference and good for 29th in the nation. The Monarchs bring in a solid defense to slow down the offense but playing on the road has not been nearly as good as playing at home where the defense has been stifling. VCU has an edge at the free throw line of seven percent and that jumps to over nine percent in home/road games and over the last five games, VCU is hitting 80 percent from the stripe while Old Dominion is hitting just 66.3 percent. That type of variance can be the deciding factor in a win or loss or a cover or non-cover. The assist/turnover ratio is not that significant overall but it is still an advantage and that always is a plus. The Monarchs are 1-7 ATS in their last eight road games against a team with a winning home record while the Rams are 10-3 ATS in their last 13 games against a team with a winning record. 8* (584) VCU Rams

                            triple-dime bet 573 Gonzaga 4.5 (-110) BetUS vs 574 Memphis
Analysis: NCAAB: Gonzaga Bulldogs at Memphis Tigers - Gonzaga +4.5 (Best Bet) -110 | Unit Value: 3
                            Game Date: 2/6/2010
Note: My eyes popped out of my head when I saw this line so if I have some typos, please overlook. I live here in Memphis and these Tiger fans are not happy with their team. A win by the home team could do something toward turning that around but Memphis does not have the horses to that today. Gonzaga got murdered by this Tiger Team last year on their homecourt giving them 4 straight losses verses the Calipari Coached squad. But this is not a Calipari Coached squad and with his departure went a lot of talent. They do not crash the boards like the past and in fact, have been outboarded over their 5 games. They do not play the same preasure D as well and they do not shoot the ball as well. This team has been given a lot of respect this year due to~ reputation only and perhaps the reason why they are just 6-11 ATS with their last 2 ATS wins by a meager margin. You can Best Bet that the Bulldogs want this game badly and finally they have the better team. And they are getting points to boot. Even with homecourt advantage the Memphis Tigers are likely to be in for a long day. This line opened at +5 and has trickled down from there. Most bettors are with me on this one, in fact a lot. Joe Public gets it sometimes. I think they got it here and I think this is a high percentage play.

Greg Shaker | CBB Sides Sat, 02/06/10 - 1:30 PM ƒŠ

                            double-dime bet 541 Miss. St 3.0 (-110) BetUS vs 542 Florida
Analysis: NCAAB: Mississippi State Bulldogs at Florida Gators - Mississippi State +3 -110 | Unit Value: 2
                            Game Date: 2/6/2010
Note: The Bulldogs are not afraid of the road but they have fallen short at winning the last 3 of 4 games. That puts them in a "Circle the Wagons" mode for this one and they matchup very well with the Gators. They are the better team and the fact i~s, the Dog has won the last 4 times they have played each other. Big Effort today from the Bulldogs are Florida is going to have a hard time getting anything inside and they don't shoot the 3 pointer well. That puts them in a big quandry here.

                            double-dime bet 661 Drake 10.0 (-110) BetUS vs 662 Illinois St.
Analysis: NCAAB: Drake Bulldogs at Illinois State Redbirds - Drake +10 -110 | Unit Value: 2
                            Ga~me Date: 2/6/2010
Note: Drake on an 8-1 ATS Run and they have always given the Redbirds fits. In fact, they have covered their last 5 of 6 in the series. This game is more than likely going to be a lot closer than this line indicates.
