The reason this game will stay under is because of Chauncey Billups. We saw when he was in Detroit the way that he can control the tempo of games. He is a bigger and stronger body than the run-and gun guards for the Warriors and will present problems for their offense the entire night. Denver is an extremely better team, but knows that GS can score at ease. The strategy for the Nuggets is to control the tempo of the game and methodically defeat the Warriors on their home court. Look for Golden State to commit a lot of turnovers and shoot well below their average tonight. Take the under.


College Basketball

Tulsa +18 over Duke

I really thought the oddsmakers would set this line around 13 or 14 points because Tulsa is a surprisingly strong team on the road. It is also advantageous for us that these teams haven't met in over a decade. Ben Uzoh is definitely an underrated stud that really hasn't seen anybody in the country able to stop him. He is stronger and faster than Nolan Smith and will win that matchup tonight. Overall, Duke is obviously the better team, but they definitely should not win by more than 15 points tonight. This is not an 18-point discrepancy in talent between these two teams. Take Tulsa!

For a number of different reasons I believe the value in this contest is on the "under"

Denver hasn’t played since a 114-105 home win over Boston on Sunday, and now faces one of the league’s doormats. The Nuggets have scored at least 123 points in winning each of their last five games against the Warriors.

Denver has made the most of its opportunities against Golden State, which has the second-worst record in the West. The Warriors, 2-2 on a six-game homestand, will be without second-leading scorer Corey Maggette (20.3 points per game) for the third straight contest due to a hamstring injury.

Denver doesn't play to a lot of "unders"; that said it has seen the total dip below the number in 16 of 27 road games.

On the other side of the court: Golden State had one of its worst shooting performances of the season Tuesday, making 37.9 percent of its attempts in a 110-102 loss to Philadelphia. Two days earlier, the Warriors shot 53.6 percent in a 108-104 victory over Atlanta; I expect an offensive letdown this evening as well.

Keep in mind that the total has in fact gone "under" the number in four of Golden States last five overall.

Bottom line: The absence of George Karl I believe will effect the Nuggets tonight and without Maggette in the lineup I expect the Warriors to continue to struggle; no need to overanalyze this one; when taking into account these strong "under" trends these teams exhibit in this position, and these other factors, the sharp money in this one is indeed on the UNDER!

Paul Pierce is out for Boston, a huge loss, Cleveland Playing with revenge here after an opening day loss at home to Boston. An aging team in the Celtics, and although neither team playing any defense as of late, the Cavs will buckle down and exact some revenge with a deeper, younger team and more power in the paint. Play 1 Unit on Cleveland.

NORTH TEXAS --- Much like New Mexico State last night, this line makes no sense. Did Vegas make a major mistake by listing North Texas as only a six-point favorite? Possibly. Maybe it's a trap game.. if so, they got me. If you look at the conference records, I guess it makes a little more sense, but we are still talking about a Louisiana-Lafayette team that is under .500 for the season and under .500 on the road, and you simply can't ignore that. Have we also forgotten that North Texas has won their last five at home vs. Lafayette by an average of over 10 PPG? Only once in their last five meeting in North Texas have been played within 6 points, so I have no doubts tonight will be no different. Those Mean Green Eagles have been very good, offensively, recently, scoring 190 points in their last two games, including a very impressive 18-point win over Arkansas Little Rock. These two have already hooked up once this year, and the Rajun Cajuns escaped with a two-point win. Can you say revenge? North Texas has won six straight SU and covered five of six, and with revenge on their minds and a small line at home, I'm happy to back the home team tonight. The Mean Green is 6-2 ATS at home this year while Lafayette is just 3-6-1 ATS on the road. I'm expecting at least a 10-point win and some distance between these two in the conference when all is said and done.

WISCONSIN --- Are you looking for a game in which you can turn it off at about the 10-minute mark? Watch Wisconsin/Indiana tonight. The Hoosiers are bad enough as it is, but it's going to be even worse tonight when the Badgers apply their suffocating defense to a team that hasn't scored outside the 50s in their last four games. Listen, I respect Tom Crean, I really do, but this team is absolutely awful. It's going to take a miracle for them to keep this thing within 15 points, but I believe it's going to be worse than that. Remember, these two hooked up in Madison just a few weeks ago, and Indiana was lucky to walk out only losing by 28. These two teams don't match up well at any position, as Wisconsin clearly has the advantage in just about every department. The Badgers have owned the Hoosiers over their last five meetings, winning by an average of 14 PPG, and there's no reason to think tonight will be any different. The Badgers don't want to just win, they want to make a statement... and what better way to make a statement than by whipping the Hoosiers on their own home floor. Badgers by at least 15.
