Note: Is the Northen Iowa Dream going to end tonight? I don't think so. We have learned a lot du~ring this Tournament about the Non-Big Conference teams but I already knew how good the Panthers were and it is not surprising to find this veteran team where they are right now. They have good inside/outside play and they can turn on the D when needed. They have certainly done that this postseason, limiting opponents to just a relatively low shooting percentage, including the Kansas Jayhawks, who is just not a bad team. But what makes this squad go are 3 things. They pound the boards with vigor, they don't make stupid mistakes, including turning the ball over, and they have outstanding Free Throw Shooting. Over the last 5 games, they have hit their Free Shots at 81.6% and that wins games down the stretch. Through it all though, they remain unrespected by the Oddsmakers, so were are once again getting a good betting number here. The Spartans have looked impressive, but the two close wins have taken something out of them, including nagging injuries to both Roe and Allen. These guys will play but perhaps not up to their capability as they deal with foot and knee problems. If I were setting this line, I would put it at Northern Iowa -2.5, and I would still bet it.

The Panther are as HOT as any team left in the NCAA Tourney. They BREEZED thru their Missouri Valley Conference Tournament with 3 straight FAVORITE wins and covers. They slammed the door against UNLV in the opening round of the Big Dance, and pulled off the shocker of the Tourney with the elimination of the #1 SEED in the entire Tournament (Kansas). It's been no cakewalk meanwhile for the Spartans of Michigan State. They barely got by New Mexico State in the Round One, winning by only 3 points as DOUBLE-DIGIT favorites, And their Round Two win over Maryland (by only 2 points) was very fortunate considering they were DOWN by double-digits with 3 minutes to go in the game.
