                            Craig Davis
                            Saturday's Lineup
75 Dime Winner on the ARIZONA DIAMONDBACKS -1 1/2 RUNS over the Pittoburgh Pirates with Dan Haren as the listaed pitcher for the D'Backs If Haren does not start for Arizona, this play is VOID. As I go live with this seleotion around 9 AM Eastern on Saturday morning, the Run Line price is around Arizona -125.

ARIZONA D'BACKS (WITH DAN HAREN -1 1/2 RUNS) --- I've spotted my favorite baseball play of the season thus far and I'm going to unload. You give me Dan Haren against this soft lineup and I'll take him on the run line any day of the week. In fact, some of you who have been with me for a while may rememoer July 23rd, 2009... it's the last time I had Haren on a run line play vs. these same Pirates... it was a 100-dime winner as the D'Backs toasted Pittsburgh 11-4 even though Haren didn't have his best stuff. But good pitchers find a way to win, and he's done so three times vs. no losses in his career against the Pirates.

Speaking of his best stuff... it's clear to me he fatigues as the season progresses, which is normal considering he pitches more than anyone else on the team (he logged almost 230 innings in 2009). But if you look at his career and when he's most dominant... it's usually before the summer heat hits. Haren allowed just six earned runs in five April starts last year giving him an ERA of 1.54 heading into the month of May. To be honest, there are very few pitchers in Major League Baseball I'd take ahead of him in the first few months of the season... he's THAT good.

And one of the major reasons I like him so much is that he doesn't give too many free passes. The most he allowead in a single game last season was three... and he only did that three times. This guy has pinpoint control, paints corners well, and is improving his off-speed stuff every year. And given the fact he's facing one of the worst offenses in baseball (at least they have been the last decade), I like his chances even more. Haren already has one start under his belt this season, and he's already notched a win. 7 IP, 3 H, 1 ER, 0 BB and 4 Ks. Not only that, but the Padres hit just .125 against him.

Pittsburgh sends Daniel McCutchen to the hill for his first start of the season, and although he's over 30 years old by birth age, he's only pitched in the Majors for part of one season (last year). He was decent, but not overpowering, and if the D'Backs hitters can be patient at the plate, they'll run his pitch count up and run him out of the game before the 6th inning is over. McCutchen has a good fastball, but still needs plenty of work on his other pitches... and if he misses his spots tonight it's going to be a very short outing.

Arizona is off to a 3-1 start this season and they welcome the oppootunity to pound on the Pirates some more tonight. My top play of the day is on the Diamondbacks on the run line over Pittsburgh.

NOTE: Pittsburgh changed starters to Zach Duke, the play still stands since the Pittsburgh pitcher was not listed. The play is just as strong.
