dime bet 978 TEX (-165) BetUS vs 977 NYY
          Analysis:
1* TEXAS RANGERS with LEE vs New York Yankees w/ Vazquez / 8:05pm ET

We'll be on the Rangers again tonight as they go for the SWEEP in this short 2-game series. What has us licking our chops is New York's stats vs Lefties (like Lee) in their last ten games: .171 team batting average. And the Yanks aren't playing with a full deck either (Texeira OUT / Posada and Cano questionable). The home team is already 4-0 this season in this series... TEXAS is 20-7 in Game Two of a series and 8-2 on Wednesdays. The Yankes have struggled as of late against very good pitchers. They are 1-5 in their last 6 games versus starters with a WHIP of 1.15 or less...

Yes, Cliff Lee is a BEAST. But he's also a Yankee-KILLER. He's gone 5-1 vs New York in the last three seasons with an ERA of only 2.25. As of late, he's also been on a roll with a K/BB ratio of 37 to 3 in his time with Texas. Last three starts ERA for Lee is only 1.80. His counterpart (Javier Vazquez) has appeared to 'hit a wall'. His ERA is 5.40 in his last 2 starts with 18 hits and walks in 11 innings (WHIP of 1.63). His numbers 'in this park': 6.75 ERA in the last 5 seasons.

dime bet 959 COL (+115) BetUS vs 960 NYM
          Analysis:
1* COLORADO ROCKIES with FRANCIS vs New York Mets w/ Niese / 7:10pm ET

A couple of southpaws battle it out in the Big Apple on Wednesday night. And in a Lefty vs Lefty matchup.... the ADVANTAGE goes to the Rockies. Whom would you rather be on? The team that's hitting .333 on offense versus LEFTIES in their last ten games (Colorado)? Or the team that's hitting only .200 on offense versus LEFTIES in their last ten games (New York)? I think we can agree that it's the team that's hitting 133 points HIGHER! Colorado is a team that does very well in Game Two of a series this year (25-12 overall).

JEFF FRANCIS is 10-3 in Wednesday starts, while his counterpart (Jonathan Niese) is only 1-4 in his last 4 starts on this Day of the Week. Niese is on a 1-5 run in his last 6 starts... 0-4 off a Quality Start... and 0-4 when pitching on only 4 days of rest.
ROCKIES: 5-0 in their last 5 off a loss.... 9-3 in Game Two of a series... and 5-1 in their last 6 games vs southpaws.
METS: 5-16 when playing of a win... 4-12 vs the NL West... 6-19 on Wednesdays... and 3-8 after scoring 2 < runs.

King Creole | MLB Total Wed, 08/11/10 - 7:05 PM

          double-dime bet 975 BOS / 976 TOR Under 8 BetUS
          Analysis:
2** UNDER the TOTAL / Boston Red Sox w/ Buchholz @ Toronto Blue Jays w/ Marcum / 7:05pm ET

A very L-O-W Over / Under line in this game and with good reason(s). First off, a couple of starting pitchers in very good current form. Second (and MOST important), we'll be riding Major League Baseball's NUMBER ONE Home PLate Umpire in terms of 'Unders' this season.

GREG GIBSON gets the call behind the dish. His #1 ranking has him with a YTD record of 4-16-4 O/U... with an average of only 6.9 total runs per game. And we're catching him at a great time as well. That's because he's gone a PERFECT 0-8-1 O/U in his last 9 games dating back to late June. Average total runs in those games is only 6.3. He has a great strikeout to walk ratio of 135 to 49 in that same time span. That's a ratio of 2.75 KJ's for every walk... and that's what we look for in an 'Under' Umpire. He's also gone 0-4-2 O/U on WEDNESDAY this year.... and 1-4 O/U in Toronto Blue Jay games in his career.

Clay Buchholtz of the Red Sox has thrown three Quality Starts in a row... with an ERA of only 2.01. He's a better ROAD pitcher (2.52 ERA) than at home... and he's a better NIGHT pitcher (2.08 ERA) than in day games (5.09). So wh're catching him in his BEST situations for a low-scoring outcome. He's already faced the Jays once this year in Canada, and was lights out in a 2-1 win (and easy UNDER). In fact, his ERA 'in this park' is only 1.37 in the last two seasons (3 starts). His counterpart (Shaun Marcum) is also in good form. ERA is 3.42 in his last 4 starts... with a GREAT K/BB ratio of only 24 to 2! His ERA at home this year is only 2.30. And he's already made two starts vs the Sox thus far in 2010 with great results: 14 innings pitched... only ONE earned run. Final scores in those two starts were 2 to1... and 3 to 2.

              triple-dime bet 979 MIN (+165) Sportbet vs 980 CWS
Analysis: Perkins had a 6.08ERA in Triple-A this season. Lifetime v ChiSox, he has a 5.22ERA. Meanwhile, Danks has a 2.91ERA over his last 3 big league starts, a 1.13WHIP (13th best in MLB) on the season, and opponents are hitting just .221 (9th best in MLB) against him. Plus, he has a 2.87ERA at U.S. Cellular in 2010. He also has a 3.24FIP (14th best in MLB). So what in the world am i thinking here playing the Twins? Well, let's look closer. That 6.08ERA for Perkins in Triple-A? It's actually a 2.70ERA over his last 9 starts. That .221BA that Danks is holding opponents to? It's actually .288 against lefties. The Twins, even without Justin Morneau, are lefty heavy. In fact, Danks has a lifetime 5.28ERA v Min. Lefties Joe Mauer (.345) and Jason Kubel (.318) indeed hit Danks well, but so does right-handed batter Michael Cuddyer (.533). In other words, it's nice to have a third of your batting lineup hitting a collective 33-for-71 (.465) v Danks. Knowing all of that, all of a sudden, +165 represents big value, especially on a club that has plated 38 runs over their last 5 games (7.6 R/G). The White Sox have lost 4 of 5. I think it's 5 of 6 after this one. The Twins are my play in the 3* Game of the Week.

                double-dime bet 960 NYM (-117) Bodog vs 959 COL
Analysis: The New York Mets -117 is a DOUBLE STAR wager for Wednesday, August 11th.

I find quite a bit of VALUE on the Mets tonight. First off, i can't ignore the home/road splits for both of these teams.

The Mets are 34-19 SU at home this year.

The Rockies are 22-35 SU on the road this year.

Interesting contrast isn't it? The Rockies are simply bad on the road, and they are coming off a series where they only split with the terrible Pittsburgh Pirates. Keep in mind that the Rockies scored 22 runs in the 4 games, yet only earned a series split. How are they going to fare on the road in a place they traditionally struggle so hard in? The Rockies aren't going to score that many runs against a good pitching staff in the Mets. The Mets proved that yesterday, as the Rockies NEVER scored. Obviously the Rockies struggles in New York is officially in their heads now.

Both teams are still thinking they can make the postseason. The Mets are just starting a 6 game homestand, where they know they need to make up some ground. I happen to think this team is very… motivated, and i think you will continue to see SUCCESS for this team against a team that struggles on the road, especially in New York.

The price is right tonight for the New York Mets. We are backing them tonight as one of our 2 DOUBLE STAR selections tonight! The Mets -117 is a DOUBLE STAR selection tonight!

                double-dime bet 956 WAS (-117) Bodog vs 955 FLA
Analysis: The Washington Nationals -117 is another DOUBLE STAR play for Wednesday, August 11th!

Love this game. A few factors working in our favor.

                1. Chris Volstad is going for his 3rd straight win against the… Nationals this year. Keep in mind, it's hard to beat another team TWICE in the same year, let alone 3 straight times. Volstad dominated the Nationals in consecutive starts back in May. Volstad isn't the type of pitcher that we could call consistent. Despite it being nearly 3 months ago, i can assure you the Nationals offense doesn't want to get embarrassed a 3rd straight time this year. The Nationals bats will be focused tonight.

                2. Line Movement. This line opened in favor of the Marlins at -111. It didn't take long for that line to correct itself, as the Nationals are now a strong favorite. This is strong line movement for a team with the far worse record, and for a team that doesn't necessarily have a strong betting following. On top of this, Strasburg was beaten last night, so you would think the betting line would reflect MARLINS money. That just hasn't been the case.

Scott Olsen is going to pitch well tonight. He's on my list of players to back as we wind down the season. He's worked hard to get back on the field, so i think he's plenty motivated and competitive to step up in his final starts of the season.

The Nationals will cash this ticket for us tonight. We are backing the NATIONALS -117 as a DOUBLE STAR selection tonight!

                  Red Sox at Blue Jays
                  Pick: Blue Jays

The Jays have had plenty of problems with the Red Sox this season, but Shaun Marcum is one pitcher that has silenced the Boston bats. Marcum has allowed six hits and one earned run in two starts, splitting a pair of one-run decisions. Clay Buchholz has pitched incredible since coming off the DL for the Red Sox, as Boston has won each of his last three outings. Toronto is 5-1 its last six games off a home loss, while Boston has won three straight games just once since the end of June. I'll take the Jays here to beat the Sox.

Who is the hottest team in baseball in the month of August? Incorrect...in fact, it is the Baltimore Orioles! Could that be a fluke? Of course it is. This team is horrible on the road and horrible against right-handed pitching. Josh Hamlin has pitched well in his limited innings this season and I expect the Indians to get a little payback from last night's loss. Take Cleveland.

Analysis: I personally see value with the D-Backs and Hudson tonight--as I definitely feel like the D-Backs are LIVE DOGS tonight--They are (7-3) their L/10 ballgames coming into tonight- & they have a TEAM ERA of 3.56 over their L/10--& their bullpen has actually been decent lately--while the Milwaukee bullpen continues to be a utter disaster--sporting a 6.98 ERA over their L/10 and Milwaukee also has somoe injury issues--Ryan Braun being the most noteworthy--as he is listed as doubtful--The D-Backs hand the ball to impressive youngster Hudson tonight--& in his two starts in the Nation League with the D-Backs--he is (2-0) with a 1.15 ERA & a sick 0.57 WHIP--as he's had outstanding command since joining his new club & I expect another rock solid start from him tonight--vs a club who has never seen him before--a clear cut edge for him and the D-Backs early on--Milwaukee hands the ball to verteran Dave Bush--who has been hit hard recently--5.29 ERA & a 1.60 WHIP--He allows a lot of runners to reach base--as his 1.56 SEASON WHIP inidicates--and a handful of CURRENT D-Backs have had success vs him--most notably S.Drew (6-14, 3 2B, 3B, HR)--and Young (5-15, 2B, 2 HR's)--Arizona has a much deeper lineup IMO and they should definitely get to Bush tonight--and I definitely expect Hudson to outpitch Bush & hand the ball over to the bullpen with the lead. Bottomline--I see great value with the D-Backs in this spot tonight & we'll grab the +120 and play it for a (2*) Double Star Play.

ML 956 WAS (-116) Sportbet vs 955 FLA double-dime bet

Analysis: Listed Pitchers Must Start (Olsen & Volstad)
                                (2*) Double Star Play
I happen to think there is value in backing Washington & Scott Olsen tonight---as Olsen can be flat out dominant when he has all his stuff going--and I love the fact that he does not walk very many hitters & limits the baserunners he puts on--He had a rough start his last outing AT Arizona, however, his last start at HOME--was a Win over the Braves--in which he went 6 IP, 5 hits, 2 runs, 2 BB---He a lso pitched very well AT Florida early on this season---Win, 6 IP, 5 hits, 0 runs, 4 K's--Olsen has owned key Marlins like: Uggla (1-11, HR)--Ross (2-11)-Helms (0-7)--and Hanley is just (3-12) off him--the only player that his hit him hard is Paulino (10-23, HR)--Florida hands the ball to Volstad---and he has not pitched well on the ROAD--Florida is just (3-6) in his ROAD starts this season--and Volstad has a 6.08 ERA & a 1.70 WHIP on the ROAD--allowing 8 HR's in those 9 starts---BOTH Adam Dunn & Zimmerman have hammered Volstad over their career: Dunn (6-13, 2 2B)--Zimmerman (8-15, 2B, 2 HR's)--& Desmond & Pudge both have had some success in less at bats--I look for the Nationals to bounceback from last nights HOME loss--as they are actually pretty good at home (29-24) this SEASON--and I definitely like the Starting Pitching edge I see tonight--& I like what Washington has in the bullpen at HOME better too--as Washington sports a solid 3.19 ERA at HOME--Bottomline--I see rock solid value with the Nationals at HOME tonight & they are a (2*) Double Star Play tonight.
