Note: Oddsmakers set lines at 9.5 and 10 for a reason and this one was set at the open at 10. These numbers are the high end and especially during what is being called The Year of the Pitcher. I can guarantee you that this number will not go down to the 9 level though as every Sharp Bettor in Vegas will jump hard if it does. It may skew that way though and already is starting to do so. There are a couple of interesting things happening in this contest tonight. The First is that Both Pens are performing very well right now and both teams not NOT maintaining a High BA. In the case of the Rockies that has meant low run production and in the case of the AZ, it has not mattered. Part of that is the venue in which this game will be played and it is clearly an OVER Venue. However, based on My MLB Totals Model, which looks at recent play as part of it's program of choosing numbers, it has this contest ending right near the 9 mark, and falling BELOW this number posted at about 53% of the time. I have to beg to differ with it's findings. The AZ Starter is not performing very well right now although his last start was the best we have seen from him in a very long while. His last 7 games thrown have produced 9 or more overall runs each time and 5 of those have topped this posted total. His work against the Rockies has been a bit iffy as well and his last game verses them right here at this park saw 13 runs. Rogers has not been very good at all with a High Whip in 2 starts after being put in the rotation following Cook's injury. Both teams will be in their best hitting posture tonight facing the righty and after Colorado's 3 contests verses 3 very good pitchers, this pitcher, and this park should be a welcome relief. Therefore I will play this one harder than usual and ditch my Model's Findings.
