          BIG AL MCMORDIE

10* NL TOTAL OF THE MONTH -- PHILLIES/GIANTS GAME 5!
Our Selection: Giants/Phillies 'under' Line: 5.5
Analysis: At 7:55 pm, our selection is on the San Francisco Giants and Philadelphia Phillies 'under' the total. The Giants won game four in dramatic ninth-inning fashion on Wednesday night and are now just one game away from their first World Series since 2002 (they are trying to win their first title since 1954 when they were the New York Giants). Tonight, we're back to game one starters Roy Halladay and Tim Lincecum, two of the very best in the Major Leagues. In that first NLCS game on October 16, the Giants won in a close-fought 4-3 contest. That game was played at hitter-friendly Citizens Bank Ball Park, but tonight they will meet at the much-stingier San Francisco venue, AT&T Park. In Lincecum's last four home starts of the regular season, and his lone Playoff start, a total of 17 runs were scored in those five games (an average of 3.4 runs per game) and only one of those games went over a total of four runs (a 6-0 loss at home against the Diamondbacks on August 27). Nothwithstanding the 'over' in Game 1 of this series, the Phillies have still gone 'under' in 18 of 25 games in which the Total was 7 runs or less, and Roy Halladay has gone 'under' in 24 of 37 vs. winning teams. Finally, San Francisco has gone 'under' in 23 of 33 this year vs. pitchers with ERAs of 3.00 or less. I foresee a very low-scoring game here. Take the 'under.'

          RED-HOT OREGON/UCLA THURSDAY PAYDAY!
Our Selection: UCLA Opponent: Oregon Line: +24
Analysis: At 9 pm, our selection is on the UCLA Bruins + the points over Oregon. The Ducks' success certainly hasn't surprised me (after all, I wagered on Oregon at 30-1 odds at the start of the season to win the National Championship), but this number is inflated tonight after the move upward from the opening number of 21.5 to its current 26, notwithstanding the absence of UCLA's injured QB Kevin Prince, and suspended return man Josh Smith. We'll take advantage of the extra line value and play on the Bruins. The Bruins have had an up-and-down season, to say the least. They've looked great in upsets over Houston (31-13) and Texas (34-12), but horrid in losses to Stanford (35-0) and California (35-7). The key for the Bruins is their running game, as they've won when they've rushed well (967 yards on 163 carries vs. Houston, Texas and Washington St.), and they're led by the Pac-10's 2nd leading rusher in Johnathan Franklin (113.2 ypg). Oregon has been susceptible to the run this season, as Tennessee averaged over 5.0 ypr (182 yards on 36 carries), as did Stanford (177 yards on 31 carries), while Arizona State averaged 4.8 (210 yards on 46 rushes). Finally, UCLA falls into a super 89-41 ATS system of mine that plays on certain road teams in conference games off a blowout loss (UCLA checks in off a 35-7 defeat at California 2 weeks ago). Take the Bruins
