Wrong pick was listed yesterday for his total pick.
Reason: I'm playing on Miami and Philadelphia to finish OVER the total. The first two games of this series, both of which were played at Miami, stayed below the total. That's caused the O/U line to fall lower. However, with the series now shifting to Philadelphia, I'm expecting tonight's game to be considerably higher-scoring. The 76ers had real trouble scoring at Miami. They've scored more points at home all season though, averaging 100.5 points per game here. They also hit a very solid 46.7% of their shots here. Philadelphia's focus should certainly be on scoring. As coach Doug Collins noted: "We've bounced back, we've shown resiliency. I think for our guys, if they could just come out and see the ball in the basket, it would be such a lift for us." While the 76ers score more points at home, the Heat have scored very nearly the same number of points at home as they do on the road. They're averaging a respectable 101 points per game at on the road, on the strength of 48.3% shooting - an even higher percentage than they hit at home. With a 2-0 lead and now feeling "comfortable," a team with "big egos" like the Heat could easily get a little "cocky" here. I don't mean that they won't play as hard - just that they may potentially put slightly more energy into offense than defense. Looking at some O/U stats and we find that the Heat have seen the OVER go 7-4 the last 11 times that they were listed as road favorites in the -3.5 to -6 range. They've also seen the OVER go 7-4 (with one push) the last dozen times that they played with two day's rest in between games. As for the 76ers, they've seen the OVER go a profitable 27-15-4 the last few seasons when playing the second of back to back games. During that stretch, the OVER is 17-13-2 when they'd scored 85 or fewer points in their previous game and 24-18-4 when they were off three or more consecutive losses. Every game of a series is unique and I look for this one to prove far higher-scoring than the last. *10
