    Diamondbacks @ Detroit Tigers
    PICK: Detroit Tigers

This game features a pair of southpaw starters. That should favor the Tigers.

Detroit is a profitable 70-48 (+20.2) against left-handed starters, the past few seasons. That includes a 15-7 (+7.3) mark this season.

On the other hand, Arizona is 10-11 against southpaw starters this season and a money-burning 46-73 (-28.6) the past few seasons.

The Diamondbacks are scoring only 4.1 runs per game vs. southpaw starters, hitting a mere 0.235 in those games. Conversely, the Tigers are hitting .264 against left-handers, averaging 4.5 runs in those games.

While he hasn't had much help from his team, Coke has a very solid 1.065 WHIP at home. That's far better than Duke's 1.446 WHIP on the road.

Speaking of home/road numbers ... Even with a win yesterday, the Dbax are still an ugly 79-120 (-23.2) on the road, the past few seasons. During that time, the Tigers, who had yesterday off, are 125-74 (+31) here at Detroit.

All things considered, the price seems very reasonable. Consider laying the wood

Atlanta Braves @ San Diego Padres
      PICK: San Diego Padres

Tim Stauffer certainly deserves a better record than 2-5 when you consider the way he has delivered the hardball. Stauffer has been especially tough in his last three outings, allowing just 1 earned run and 19 base runners in 22 innings! The righthander will welcome the Braves to Petco, looking to put an end to Atlanta's four-game win streak. Stauffer has been at his best in evening action this season, sporting a smoking 2.44 ERA & 0.95 WHIP, to go along with a .217 BAA in eight starts under the lights. The problem with the Braves is that they don't hit righties. Atlanta is averaging just 3.9 rpg against righthanders this season, and that number drops to 3.6 rpg when they're on the road and under the lights. Veteran Derek Lowe goes for the visitors tonight. He has seen his ERA rise from 3.73 to 4.10 in his last two starts, allowing 8 earned runs and 18 base runners in just 10 1/3 innings. Lowe has a grand total of just 4 K's in those two outings. The Braves have won just one of Lowe's last six road starts against teams with a losing record. Meanwhile, the Friars are taking care of business as a home fave with Stauffer on the hill, winning five of the last seven times. They're also 9-2 the last 11 times Stauffer has pitched against a team with a winning mark. I'm recommending a play on the Padres on Friday.
