Texas Rangers vs. Houston Astros
A potential pitcher’s duel is set to go in the Lone Star State Thursday night when Matt Harrison and the Texas Rangers square off against Wandy Rodriguez and the Houston Astros in the finale of their three-game set; first pitch from Minute Maid Park is set for 8:05 ET.
With C.J. Wilson once again getting the best of Jordan Lyles in Tuesday’s series opener, Texas snapped a two-game losing streak after it was embarrassed at home by the New York Mets over the weekend. In doing so, the Rangers moved to 1.5-games ahead of the Los Angeles Angels in the AL West and moved to four-games over the breakeven point on the year ($-232). The defending AL champs have won just 19 of their 41 road games played to date costing MLB bettors upwards of $300 on the year.
The Astros currently bring up the rear in the NL Central managing just a 28-52 overall record heading into Game 2 of this series on Tuesday. They currently possess the largest deficit of any division in the game trailing the first place Milwaukee Brewers by a whopping 16-games. As you would expect, Houston is the worst betting investment in all of baseball having cost MLB bettors an even $1850; $1612 of that deficit has shockingly come in the not so comfy confines of The Juice Box where they’ve only won 13 games to date.
Heading into the second game of the series on Wednesday, the Rangers have dominated the 2011 Interleague series with the Astros winning three of the four overall meetings; the ‘over’ is 2-1-1 in those games. Game 2 of this series pending, but Texas has won each of its L/7 trips to Houston and have won 19 of the L/26 overall meetings; talk about domination! That said; Texas has dropped Game 3 of a series each of the L/5 times but stand an impressive 8-3 the L/11 times Matt Harrison closed out a series. Houston’s 18-7 against the L/25 left-handers faced, but are just 3-13 vs. the L/16 +.500 opponents faced in Interleague play and 1-4 in Wandy Rodriguez L/5 starts vs. AL opposition.
PICK: Rangers/Astros UNDER
