    Dolphins at Jets
    Pick: Dolphins

When I first saw this match-up my Knee jerk reaction was to take the Jets no matter what the line was going to be. Now, I see this game open with New York oat 9 and better and yet today with the books taking more Jets money then Miami money the line has been dropping all week to where it is now at 7 or less. Now, does that make any sense at all? No, it doesn't so either the Book maker believes he hung a weak number or the Dolphins are coming to play. With Miami mat 0-4 and the Jets showing no offense this season to date I'll TAKE SEVEN (+7) Buy it if you must be get at least a touchdown.

Tonight’s BIG NHL Pick is going to take place in the Pittsburgh Penguins vs Winnipeg Jets game which starts at 8:30 pm est.

Winnipeg’s offensive problems have been compounded by poor play in net. Chris Mason and Ondrej Pavelec have combined for a 4.33 GAA and league-worst .852 save percentage. Pavelec is starting for the Jets tonight.

The Jets have started their season off on the wrong foot and are currently 0-3. But tonight they may get their first win of the season. Coach Claude Noel, according to the press, blew up on his players after the morning skate. And if you follow hockey, when ever a coach blows up on you or the team, you know that team comes out playing the best they can play. And what makes this interesting is the fact that Winnipeg is playing at home tonight in front of their home crowd.

As for the Penguins they are still without Sidney Crosby and Evegeni Malkin, but are still averaging 3.0 goals per game without them. Thanks to James Neal and his league leading 24 shots on goal. And if he keeps this pace up against an Jets team with horrific goaltending, you know what’s going to happen.

Penguins vs Jets OVER 5.5 (5 UNITS)

NY Jets (-6') for 1.5 Units

Itching to get on the winless Dolphins who have covered 4 of the last 5 in this series however, the Dolphins' offense, which was stagnant with Henne (out) at the controls, should have more difficulty getting into the end zone with Moore. Moore hasn't taken a snap this year and has had limited success in the NFL. The Jets' defense, which has been underachieving this year, should turn in a strong outing here. On the other hand, the Jets' offense should target Miami's weak secondary that has been burned repeatedly. We'll side with the Jets here to break out of their funk.

                    NHL PREDICTIONS

Florida Panthers @ Tampa Bay Lightning - PANTHERS TO WIN (+145)
(Note: I'm risking 1 unit to win 1.45 units)
These two teams played each other Saturday night in Florida, with the Panthers winning 3-2 in a shootout. The Panthers capitalized on 2 powerplay opportunities and outshot the Lightning 38-30. Tonight will be the Lightning's home opener, as they opened the season with 5 straight road games. Tampa Bay won their first game of the season in Carolina 5-1, but has since lost 4 straight (Boston, Washington, New York Islanders, Florida). The Lightning haven't looked to good to start the season. The same can't be said for the Panthers, who have surprised most coming out to a quick 2-1 start to the season. They opened the season with a 2-0 win against the Islanders in New York, and then went on to lose in Pittsburgh in a game they played well in before beating Tampa Bay in their home opener. Jose Theodore has looked solid with a 1.97 GAA and .930 SV%. Dwayne Roloson will be in net for the Lightning, and he has been playing very poor. Roloson is 1-1-1 with a 4.65 GAA and .883 SV%. Florida has owned this rivalry lately, winning 5 of their last 7 meetings. Theodore has been the better goalie this season, and there is no reason that Florida can't come in and beat the Lightning to take this home-and-home. Good value tonight with the Panthers

Miami Dolphins vs. New York Jets
Week 6 of the 2011 NFL season closes shop at MetLife Stadium where the New York Jets (2-3, 1-4 ATS) will look to bounce back from a devastating three-game road trip in their AFC East clash with the Miami Dolphins (0-4, 0-3-1 ATS) under the bright lights of Monday Night Football; kick-off is set for 8:30 ET on ESPN.
Miami went into its bye in Week 5 losers of four in a row and down a quarterback. On top of it, the Fins failed to produce a pointspread victory for its betting backers by putting forth an 0-3-1 ATS tally which will have many holding their noses up at the prospect of grabbing the points with them on MNF. Having said that, Tony Sparano’s outfit has been much better against the closing pointspread on the road than at home covering the closing number at an 11-4-1 clip their L/16 as a visitor. On top of being very familiar with what the Jets will attempt to do being division rivals, the Dolphins possess the ground game with Daniel Thomas and Reggie Bush that should be able to take advantage of New York’s 31st ranked rushing defense that’s been gouged to the tune of 134.8 YPG on the season.
The troops Rex Ryan has unleashed upon the NFL in 2011 look to be far from the ones that took to the gridiron in each of the last two AFC Championship Games. The Jets were a pound the pigskin down your throat type of club the last two seasons, but entering tonight, NY has managed to run for an average of just 76.2 YPG (#31) and will be running up against a Fins defense that’s better at stopping the run (#14 at 107.5 YPG). Where QB Mark Sanchez and the offense might have success however will be through the air since Miami has been gouged by opposing passing attacks to the tune of 307 yards per game (#31). Miami’s had problems executing its red zone offense all season long (#26 of 32), so if the Jets can’t limit new starter Matt Moore, we might as well just turn the page on what was expected to be another stellar Jets stop unit.
The road team has won six of these division rivals L/7 overall meetings with both the Jets and Dolphins scoring outright road wins and covers last season. In fact, Miami’s 3-1 SU & 3-0-1 ATS its L/4 trips to MetLife Stadium. Having said that, Brandon Marshall and his mates have covered only one of their L/6 AFC East tussles and stand 1-3 SU & ATS their L/4 on Monday Night. New York’s 2-0 SU & 1-1 ATS at home in 2011 and stands a rock solid 9-3 ATS against the L/12 losing teams it’s faced, but has only covered once in its L/5 MNF spots. The ‘over’ has cashed in each of Miami’s L/4 Monday Night appearances and checks in at 4-1 in the Jets L/5.

                          PICK: JETS/DOLPHINS OVER
